View Full Version : Does Character Size Matter when Targeting

Does the size of your Tank matter when you are attempting to acquire new targets. I know the next NPC, nearest NPC hotkeys can be used for targets, but I was wondering if being a smaller tanks causes confusion when you are in the Mobs legs.

thanks in advance

In my opinion it makes zero difference at all ... your group can use the F2-F6 keys to target group members

Raiding and grouping it makes little difference. On PvP servers I try to be as large and menacing as possible to make it tough for enemies to target smaller squishy allies hiding near me. The target box size ratio will usually only hinder the people who are used to mouse clicking and can not adapt to hotkeys.
I made the smallest DE berzerker I could make. I just wait for the mob to hit me usually but I don't have any problems targeting the mobs.

It's not the size of your zerker that counts it's how skilled you are ;-p

No.. seriously... it does matter a lil bit... not for targeting though. Visibility.

Some mobs are so big... or so ugly... that it is hard to tell the front from the back during combat.... the tank might be knocked back on occasion and the scouts don't know which was it is facing because it's so ugly or all they see is the belly.

During situations like this they typically look for the tank... and see where he is standing... if he is a gnome it makes that harder.

I think this is why Guardians were given the Rook form as a fluff spell.... they were kind of the tank of choice back then although SOE denied it... and being the tallest toon on the raid with a distinctive look has it's perks in terms of recognition of tank and placement of flanking attacks.

In PVP I've found that being a halfer has resulted in me being able to target everyone else easily, because everyone's torso's are eye level :smileytongue: Another good advantage is that chanters have a harder time mezzing me as the tank ((I keep the group we are fighting taunted )) while the caster cant target me in the fray of the battle. Playing on the Qeynos side i've found that my opponents whol roll Trolls, ogres and barbarians are super easy to target (which can be a good thing, first thing people target) But also a bad thing at the same time.Cloven Wallsworn, Berserker of Firionia Vie's Championsp.s. If this doesnt make any sense, sorry ahead of time, my mind is mush after work today.
