A few questions.1.) I'm short on money, should I invest in gear or skills?2.) Is there any way to do a certain heroic opportunity? I always seem to get random ones.3.) I've noticed that my white weapon hits are the majority of my dmg, is this normal?4.) Duel wield or 2H or sword and board? Granted I'm sure they all have their uses in certain situations but I solo about 95% of the time so keep that in mind. Thanks in advance

im not high lvl but i can do my ebst to help answer these questions.1.) profit from adventuring so far seems to scale with your lvl. if you stick with it and sell vender trash to venders and skills/spells/itmes to players or venders depending who will pay you more, you will have enough money to maintain your gear and spells. also take up harvesting, mine loams and rares for alchemists to make your skills at adept 3, and mine rares from ores and have an armorer make you some armor. can also take up crafting yourself, up to you.2.) HO's are random for the most part. the only ones that have any sort of control from what i remember are scouts, who can change the path of the HO at will. 3.) no idea what you are really asking here but auto-attack will be your main source of damage with CA's coming in second - after taunting of course.4.) this is really up to you. if you are fighting easy mobs, or there is another tank that is taking the hits, go for the 2hander or dual wield. if you are the main tank and the mobs are white or higher, i suggest sword and board. it mostly comes down to how well your healer can keep you alive with your play style. if not so good, you need to adapt to the healer, not the other way around. if your healer is board, and always has full power after a fight, then the choice is yours.i started a serker recently, he is 23 wood elf. not the strongest but so far very fun. for under 20 gold i was able to buy a full suit of carbonite armor, legs and chest imbued. i also got an imbued tower shield, a 1-handed axe, 2 dual wield weapons, a 2-handed sword, and a 2-handed club, all imbued. if you can live with taking the hits for a bit, there are also armor quests available at lvl 20. there is a thread around here somewhere that has a pic of a full suit of it. i am actually upgrqading some of the carbonite vanguard armor i bought with this AQ armor, so it is pretty decent stuff. if you are hard for cash, do them, they are available from Ian Cathlan in qeynos harbor, not sure who gives them in FP.Good luck with your serker, but most importantly, have fun with your serker. if it isnt fun for you, it wont be fun for your group members.

Whether to go for gear or skill upgrades varies. I'd tend to go for a full set of common-material plate, with pristine vanguard being the goal, and see if you can hook up with an alchemist (or become one) for App4 CA upgrades. You'll probably do better with personal contacts than on the broker, honestly. If you need coin, remember to check all your unusable loot against the broker to see what it's selling for, and broker it if you can get a good price. Also, broker raws. It's amazing what some raws will go for and how fast they'll sell, and even at the bottom 1c each that's still half a silver per stack and you can pick up stacks easy once you get a feel for harvesting. As for weapons mix, I'm not a fan of 2H. It's good for max damage in a single hit, but they're the slowest weapons you have, you get the minimum stat boost (since you can only carry one of them) and you lose any additional mitigation from a shield. If you've got a strong healer behind you, I tend to go dual-wield for maximum damage output. If my healer has trouble keeping up with my damage, or I'm at the level where I get the shield-bash CA, I switch to 1H plus shield for the extra mitigation and knockback effect.

White damage... you sound like an ex-WoW player.

But yeah, I noticed that too - and I believe that's pretty normal.

Anyway, I started my zerker a bit ago (I am also relatively new to EQ2 - I moved from WoW), and I've been investing in skills and just picking up the quest/instance gear which seems to be adequate for me... although, getting into a group seems to be exceptionally painful the majority of the time. I'll usually whip out the 2h'er on blue con packs that are like 2 down, or single blue, or things of that nature... but anything even con and above I usually go sword and board, and find myself alive more often than not.

Just my experience so far, though I'm anything but an expert on the subject.

On the 2h vs DW issue. If you are hard up for cash... it's much easier to find 1 good two hand than it is to find two nice DW weapons (rather 1 main hand weapon and a DW weapon). Seems to be quests all over the place for good two handers and armor, so i say invest a bit in skill upgrades.Just a hint if you are on a non-pvp server... if you are evil and cant find a skill upgrade or if it's too expensive... make a good alt and check the broker there. There is soo much more competition in Qeynos that the prices and selecition are usually better. Mail money to your good alt and have them buy stuff for you.

Message Edited by Ufdah on 10-12-2006 04:06 PM

Thanks for the info guys, I seem to be trucking right along. Been using a 2H for solo and a sword and board for the occasional group. Haven't been DW since lvl 5 or so Gonna try it out once I get enough money to buy some gear. One more question: Can you equip a 1H wpn in your main hand and then use a DW weapon in your offhand or does it have to be DW weapons in both hands? Thanks again in advance.

Dual-wield in both hands. Equipping a 1H weapon unequips any DW weapon in your secondary slot. The valid combinations are 2DW or 1H+shield or 2H (shows in both primary and secondary slots).
