Long time ago in a galaxy far, far...wait wrong game.Heya everyone lol, once upon a time (before PVP servers opened up) I was a full time zerker.  Used to love useing DW leafblades for the awsome proc rate and the ability to really dish out dmg and still be able to take a beating (because of the adjusted repoiste rate on DW's).  Any of you out there still go the DW route or has everyone for the most part decided the 2h or 1h+board was the way to go?Don't mind me, no time to play before bed so figured I'd troll a little <span>:smileyvery-happy:</span><div></div>

<P>My default state is dual wielding. Ther other styles have their moments, good for certain situations, but going in with both hands flying floats my boat. It's zerky, it's rawr, and something I couldn't do in EQ1 with my zerker there. </P> <P>Good for agro an all. More blows, more opportunity for our arts, AAs and procs to get jiggy with it. But that's a concern for groups rather than soloing. And flipping to a 1hander and shield for a particularly gribbly foe is fair enough. Or flipping to a 2hander when going up against something with a high mitigation. It's all good, situationally. </P>

<div></div>One hander + buckler.  Most dps, still capable for tanking anything including raid mobs (Heck, I tank trash in offensive with juggernaut, but that's another story altogether), there's really no contest.<div></div>

<DIV>i don't dualwield at all anymore, but thats cause I have an array of great Two handers. When tanking heroic content with a 'ideal' group i always use a two hander, if its a less than ideal (meaning either no Shaman, or only one healer and less than spectacular DPS) i will use the 'sword and board' combo but only if its a 'harder' zone...like HoF 3/4's of the way through (plus the nameds), or all of Nizara and Nek 3. </DIV>

Do not use DW against high DS mob.. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> I pwned DWing zerker with my high DS plus lifetap ward. More hits on me = more unresistable damage against zerker.  <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Smart zerker will use 1h+shield or 2h against SK..<p>Message Edited by Nocifer Deathblade on <span class=date_text>09-21-2006</span> <span class=time_text>06:31 AM</span>

<DIV>consider this... and this number is not the end-all of dps, but its a good way of looking at it in general.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you have two DW weapons (the highest DW i seen has dmg rating 65), your dmg rating from using them is 65+65 = 130.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I you have a 1h + buckler, you have 76% double attack (the highest 1h I seen has dmg rating 90), you damage rating is 90x2X0.76=137</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So you have 130 and no defence or 137 and buckler defence.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>With a 2-hander its 110 (i havent seen one above 109)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So this is an indicator that:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>a.  1h > DW>2h</DIV> <DIV>b.  we need some DW-specific AAs</DIV> <DIV>c.  we need some 2h-specific AAs</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>disclaimer:  i recognize that there are a lot more  factors that go into DPS than just dmg rating  of weapon.  So this is just one way of looking at it from a purely WEAPON perspective.</DIV>

It is sad that because of the AAs DWing has no advantage over the buckler line for DPS or defence <span>:smileysad:</span>I think it is fitting to the lore of the zerker though, and at lower levels probably doesn't matter much.  I used to DW but switched over to buckler line for most dps, not as much fun as DWing though.Maybe EoF can bring a new hope for DW?<div></div>

I love the idea of a duel weilding Berserker. It is just cool, so I bought my berserker (70) 2 nice DW weapons. Then I found there are some serious problems. We have a number of arts that rely on our Primary weapon damage rating. I forget which, I think open wounds is one and a powerful one. I ran a parser and found in a tanking position it is sub-optimal. In fact I found it was only effective in a DPS where I could not AE role. Even though my DW weapons had a higher total damage rating than my two hander I did less damage while soloing with them. If u want pure funconality go STA AA line with a buckler. If u wanna DW, have at it it is fun, but realize the damage is less.

<DIV>I stopped using dual wields at lvl58 because we got open wounds at that lvl.  That skill looks at your weapon equiped in the primary slot for his dps.  So if we would use dual wields we would handicap our biggest ca a lot. So 58+ i changed to 2H.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Since KOS came out and i maxxed out my aa's a while ago i changed to the stamina line (buckler + 1H).</DIV> <DIV>Try to acquire a nice fabled 1H and you'll be amazed at the dps you can do...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Nothing can beat the combo of a 1H and buckler with full aa's.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I loved the animation of the dual wields but as it stands now there is no reason except "looking cool" for using dual wields... :smileysad:</DIV>

<P>I have a question and a few statements about this subject. My wife and i run a fury/zerk duo. We occasionally add in a dps class in a third slot and run everfrost, ct, things like that. From perhaps low 40s to 52ish she was using a 2 handed fabled axe and going down strength line. Hitting 52 we reassessed things because i didn't think we were chewing through things as fast as we should. We're both basically in mastercrafted gear for our tier and using ad3 spells/arts. Well, she decided she wanted to try the agility line, so we picked up a couple of lvl 52 leaf blades and her dps seems to have gone up quite a bit. Also, she dodges and parries quite a bit more. We tend to keep things in the high greens or a couple of levels behind us in case we get jumped by a scout or other bad guy while pve'ing. I think she has maybe 12 aa points. Switching from strength to agility seems to have upped her defense a little bit as well as improving her dps, especially against a group of 4 green/blue heroics. She also says her arts seem to cycle faster. All in all i'm happy with the change so far. I'm not sure what the outcome will be as we move on into 60 and beyond, but so far it seems to be working out all right. I  saw the post about the 1-hander and shield combo doing more dps, but is that only for someone that is 24 aa points or beyond? How about for the rest of us that aren't quite there? I love reading about how things turn out at 70 with full aa points and all, but i really don't think these statements about what is "best" fit the situation of most of us out there still struggling to 70 and not even half-way to  full aa points.</P> <P>-Onikio, 54 fury Nagafen</P>

<DIV>Devil Dog the AA Line with the 1 hander and shield isn't a regular shield, and its also not something you have to be all the way down to get the DPS bonus stuff. Its with a Buckler, and its the Stamina Line. The reason its so strong (if you have a good one hander) is that the third skill thing on the line creates a double attack. You or your wife should check out the Sticky thing here about the Warrior Acheivement stuff, fantastically written and setup. It was a great help for me myself, and even though i detest that line myself i can see its benefits in many ways.</DIV>

<P>I do not dual wield anymore.  In the beginning (1-40), I was okay tanking with DW.  Since I got to 50 I have been sporting a 1H and shield.  I notice that healers are not as frantic when I have a shield.  Just remember your primary goal in a group should be taking hits and living, then worry about agro, and then DPS.  </P>

Devil, 16 AAs will give you 76% double attack with a 1h and a buckler.  (4/4/<img src="/smilies/b2eb59423fbf5fa39342041237025880.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> 24 AAs will make having a tower shield unnecessary (4/4/8/<img src="/smilies/b2eb59423fbf5fa39342041237025880.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  until you get to 70 or so where there are some 1300-1400pt shields that give you higher avoid than that buckler AA.At 65ish... with 4/4/8/8 in the buckler line, using a 950 rating tower shield increased my avoid over buckler by a whooping 2%.  <div></div>

<div></div>Currently 56 on my Zerker alt, I solo and tank heroics up to yellow con mainly with my Buckler and 1hander, I do loose some avoidance but the solo dps helps alot and I have a very good healer partner! If I need to go defensive, it's a simlple switch to defensive stance and clicking on my towershield from my equipment hotbar. I did dualwield tank up until about level 47 when I started getting enough AA's to go down STA line for double attack. I know Warriors that tank mobs like Tarinax and Chel'Drak with the STA line setup and they perform very well indeed. I'm not worried. <div></div><p>Message Edited by Supernova17 on <span class=date_text>09-24-2006</span> <span class=time_text>12:27 AM</span>

I've finally laid my Templar down and am going for a career change with my Zerker. After healing since the beginning of T5 and being at the forefront of raids, I'm a bit tired of it =O<div></div>
