for some reason i thought a shield added towards your total MIT but i see it says "protection" how does this add towards my MIT or defence, when i check the stats with it equipt or unequipt they say exactly the same..any help would be great!<div></div>

It increases your Avoidance by boosting your "Block" percent rate.<div></div>

ok thx!<div></div>
Some shields increase mitigation as part of their stats...Formula:1 Vs. Slashing + 1 Vs. Piercing + 1 Vs. Crushing = 1 MitigationSo, if a shield has say 140 towards each of these stats, you have 140 more mitigation, which physically shows as part of your total mitigation. However, this goes towards any item, not just shields, just thought I would share considering there is a decent amount of Tier7 shields with these stats.

True, but any item can have those bonuses. Shields inherently do not increase mitigation. It just happens that every once and a while, a shield just happens to have stat bonuses that increase mitigation.<div></div>

<DIV>An example of the Shield/Mit question... originally i avoided the buckler AA lines thinking it would severley decrease my overall mitigation yet with sheilds like the azjeroz guard (from HoF) and Ironplate shielding (both being bucklers) my mit is higher than with alot of tower shields. </DIV>
