My 26 zerker was my 1st eq2 character.Seemed pretty good until about level 26, some of the magic wore off. Im starting to notice my shortcomings, other classes are looking mighty fine right now.I know im a good tank, but its not enough, fights are boring, spamming my melee spells and waiting for refresh. And I made the mistake of starting a wizard alt. I dont want to quit my zerker, but I cant hardly log onto him.Can anyone inspire me?

Not quite an inspiration, but maybe a tank class isnt your cup of tea if your not enjoying it.

I found my zerker quite dull till about 40, but then again i've found that applies to most classes - there's a boring patch between about 20 and 40 where the novalty wears off but the chracter hasn't really matured.

Having said that, you zerker will always be stood there hitting stuff and waiting for reuse timers (though at higher levels this isn't very long with lots of combat arts to click).

If you're really not enjoying zerker at 26 then maybe the class isn't for you. If you just finding it a bit dull and you can hang in there till your 40's then you might find you enjoy it more, I know i did.

MaesterMathias wrote:I know im a good tank, but its not enough, fights are boring, spamming my melee spells and waiting for refresh.

Well honestly you'll be spaming combat arts or spells as most classes unless your a really high damage class in which case you'll cast a spell/art and then wait then cast then wait then cast.... So ummm... well... the point is that all classes are pretty much the same in that respect. I personally like healers and tanks cause I have to pay the most attention to the game (In my mind) Tank you have to pay attention to keeping things on you and try and read agro levels of others. And the healer you have to keep an eye on everyones hp and keep them up.But it doesn't take long to get into the 20's so play your wizzy for a while and see if they get boring or you still enjoy them. Unless a weekend or two to get to the 20's is too much time, but I'd honestly suggest trying most classes into the 20's (or at least 15, you get a good idea of the class by then), it may take a lil while but your sure to wind up with a class you enjoy in the process.

Me, I absolutely loved my Berserk in her 20s. She had at least one AOE and I loved, and still do, to watch her make that huge back-spin attack. I love watching several foes drop simultaneously. As berserks get more powerfull they get more AOEs, and attacks that hit the whole encounter, so the carnage intensifies. I have purposely parked her where she'll get adds just to watch her fight for lengths of time. I love my Berserk! She can tank decent, solo well (especially against grouped mobs!) and she okay on the DPS side when assisting. Sure, I am spamming CAs, well, attampting HOs repetively, but tanks especially is far from boring for me. Maybe I am slow, but tanking is hard for me: I have to be monitoring everyone to see if anyone else is getting aggro, I need to be looking around for possible adds, and I have to pay attention to which taunt to use when...

Sure, you don't get the manuever the scouts do or the spell selection of the casters, but you're in the thick of it and in it FACE!

Message Edited by wwd2 on 06-04-2006 07:28 PM

First, you can't really judge a class in the mid 20s. You still get class specific basic spells up into the mid 30s. Then you get another 1 (or 2) in the 40ish lvl range then your t6 Ancient Teachings.

Thing is, for all the people that said "I just spam my melee skills" You need to sit back, look at your class, your role, and LEARN your class. I never just spam my abilities. That is a waste of power and a huge hit in your DPS. Pay attention to when your zerk procs, and depending on the buffs you have running from your group depends on what arts if any you use.

If you play your class right, even on epic fights as a Tank, you wont run out of power and you wont lose aggro. And that is spamming nothing. And then when playing the DPS role on a group or raid, if you spam your arts, your gonna be OOP 90% of the fight and your DPS is gonna be very low.

We have a zerker as our Raid MT, and when others are absent, I've tanked as well. But I'm primarily DPS and its very easy and common for me to put out over 1k DPS on the parse. Given the right encounter, I've seen another zerker of our put out over 2k. All the time the MT (zerker) holding aggro.

So my advice is, give the class another shot, those lvls go really fast. Get a few more of your class specific abilities and you can be a little diverse. Zerks are a very fun class to play. If not, find the class that you love, but dont judge any class off the abilities from lvl 1-20.

when i get bored with an alt or my main i always find it easier to let them build up vitality for a few days while i play another character. serkers have some amazing abilities, and if you liked the class to start you may just going thru a dull patch and in a day or 2 try playing him again, get him to 30ish

I just Dinged 25, but I had simular thoughts a few levels back. I tried a few Alts, but always seemed to come back to my Zerk. Trouble was I played a 60 hunter in WOW since release, so I was used to PvP from a different angle. I was getting owned in PvP and PvE, and it was fustrating.

Recently I have changed my attitude toward my Zerk, having come to realise that I am a group fighter, not a one or two puller. now I charge deep into a large group of enemies and come out better than I do agains tone or two, and my Zerk has taken on a new edge of fun. I guess what I am saying is that my own attitude seemed to be spoiling my view of my Zerk, and having revised the way I fight, I absolutely love playing her now.

Anyway, don't give up yet. Everything I have read and all the inidcations I am getting as I watch my power increase is that we are very late bloomers, but in the end it will pay off big. Good luck.

-Luba, 25 Berserker, White Fang Guild, Veneker Server

My word of advice - Rampage! Set your goal for level 50, because once you get that skill you wont look back

Yeppers, a zerker is hard to play up until the 40's because they're so much like a guardian. But trust me its worth it. The zerker is much more flexible then a guardian later in the game.
