Hey guys, I'm new to the game and been having a hard time deciding on a class. Maybe someone here can help me out. While I'm looking for a good pvp class character I'm not looking for an all out "uber" class. Mostly I'm looking for a balance between a good pvp class and a character style I like to play. I'm looking for a melee character who will be effective using pikes and spears. I'm not much of a tanker and liek to be more on the offensive DPS side of the things. Also I like playing solo or pairing up, not much in to large group raids. I have been recommanded to play a Swashbuckler or a Berseker. Few people have been suggesting Shadowknight as well. So input from some of the more experianced players will be great help.

Also another question i have is, how much do stat difference between races effect a class in higher levels. I'm from SWG where races didn't really matter when it came to character stats and such so i have no experiance in this. Can I be a effective fighter as a half-elf for example ?

Any help would be great help to me. LoL I feel like a total nub around here .....

If you want to be on the DPS side of things I dont rec a zerker. Part of a zerkers utility is the ability to tank and you will be asked to do so in groups if you are one. Now, zerkers do a fair amount of dps but not that of a swashy or monk/bruiser. I would also recommend that you consider a brigand. They get some very nice, fun, useful arts.

Race really doesnt matter, pick one you like. The slight differences in stats really dont mean anything in the long run because you will more than make up for it with equipment.

I was raid MT last night in Ascent and almost hit 1100 dps (1092.7)

Though I'm pretty sure that was all the procs I was getting.

Yea, you were most likely getting credit for procs.

Race does not mean that much at higher levels, play what you like.

Bruiser or monk is my recommendation, althought I hear SK's are pretty good in solo situation, not a PVP person here. The big asset of a brigand is the AOE immunity, so I would suggest finding out the benenfits of this in PVP situation.

Best PvP classes (aside from conjurers & necros) are probably bruisers or scouts. Swashys can really rock - but so can rangers & assassins. Both are very good with piercing weapons - like pikes and spears. Bruisers have really impressed me with their PvP skills. They are probably the best and most versatile DPS fighters in the game - great at PvP - and solid in both tanking and DPS roles in groups. BUT - bruisers cant generally use piercing weapons like pikes and spears.

Zerkers are solid tanks - unspectacular DPS, moderately good at PvP, solid slow soloers and weapons generalists. We can use any type of weapon - and it is good to have more than one type as some mobs are entirely resistant to piercing damage. If you are flexible on your desire to use only piercing weapons - it seems that bruiser would best meet your overall goals. If you are insisent on the piercing only setup - assassin or swashy would do it for ya.
