View Full Version : AA WIS weapon requirement - is a morning star a hammer/mace?

Well I guess the title covers it. Is a morning star counted as a mace for the sake of the WIS AA line. I am keen to use this line, but don't like the idea of giving up a weapon with STR and STA for extra WIS (hammer), so looking around I noted that the morning star has stats that suit a fighter while looking like it might fit into the hammer/mace grouping.

BTW I'm avoiding taking a mace simply because of the DW requirement.

Shahut

53 Zerker

<strike>Lavastorm</strike> Nektulos

Like a flail? You can just hit up a weapon vendor in your hometown and buy like a iron flail or something for roughly a few silver and see if it works. My guess is no, there are a few weapons that don't fall into any category with those AA abilities.

DW requirement? None of our lines require you to duel wield, but to have certain types of weapons in atleast your primary hand, or both hands. I'm pretty sure that any mace will work. I'm doing the wisdom line too, and I actually haven't found a crushing weapon that doesn't work.

It really doesnt matter because you look at it like this:

Crushing Weapon:

Great Hammer, 2 handed crushing.

Hammer, 1 handed crushing.

Mace, 1 hander OR Dual Weild crushing.

Slashing Weapon:

Great Sword, 2 handed slashing.

Sword, 1 hander OR Dual Weild slashing.

Great Axe. 2 handed slashing.

Axe, 1 handed OR Dual Weild slashing.

Piercing Weapon:

Great Spear, 2 handed piercing.

Spear, 1 handed OR Dual Weild piercing.

Now the rest comes down to common sense and working out what picture resembles the type of weapon. Now take for example, i use Cudgel of the Wildwood to trigger Belly Smash. To look at this weapon it clearly is a Hammer type weapon, it has a Stone lodged in the top of the shaft with a hilt, clearly is a Hammer, a Ebony Club is clearly a Club type weapon cause of the look of the weapon, in the Icon, looks like a dirty peice of tree branch just ripped off a Tree.

Personally from what i have noticed is it doesnt really matter what type or look the weapon is, as long as its Crushing type weapon Belly Smash will work, as long as its Slashing Sword type, Acceleration Strike will work, as long as its Slashing Axe type, Executioners Warth will work.

One thing im not 100% sure of is, Staves and Staffs weather they be Two handed or 1 handed / Dual Weild ie: Batons, will they trigger Belly Smash? Its the only weapon type i havent tried with our 3 abilitys we get that require one of each weapon type to trigger.

I use Rahotep Scepter - it works great when soloing!

Sorry if i am repeating ,did not read everything, but did think I should add this since I am wisdom path as well.

The idea of buying 1sp wpns and testing is good, i found that it must be a mace and not crushing, so it is fickle in that regards. Since Rahotep, Godking (i think) and the new Pris 3 claymore are all maces, that pretty much makes it so you dont have to waste money getting the crafted ones.

The dual wield should work if mace is in primary hand, but you cannot do belly smash unless target is knocked down, so with no shield, you ability to debuff the mob will greatly decrease.

I did find that belly smash is kind of buggy in a way. It seems that once a mob in an encounter is knocked down/stunned that the ability belly smash is in some way unlocked, and after that it is useable till the end of the encounter. Let me explain: you pull a group of 5 mobs, and hit one with your shield, knock it down, and belly smash it. Even if he dies, belly smash will still be able to be triggered on other mobs until that encounter is ended, even if never knocked down or stunned.

At least that is what seems to be happening with me since I have had the ability.

To the previous poster talking about being able to use belly smash on different enemies that hasn't been knocked down.

If you used your aoe that knocks down all the enemies in the area, then that particular mob HAS been knocked down recently.

Also keep in mind that YOU don't have to knock them down, anyone in your group can. Or I guess anyone period, grouped or not.

If you find this is still not the case...shh

yea, i have thought about that, and perhaps you are right, it just seems buggy at times.

You know, like guarded vehemence, if you leave the group under the correct circumstances, it reverts back to you, maintaining the agil buff as well as the extra avoidance for soloing, so shhhhh, hehehe.
