Looking for DPS-Survivability balance

<div>Hello.  I have tried out quite a few classes so far, but I have not found the class that just seems to fit me.  I am really looking for a class that can solo fairly well, deliver a pretty good hit, and take a decent amount of damage as well.  My conjuror definitely seems to fit this descripton but I am looking for something that is not tied to a pet to achieve this.  Do any of the fighter classes offer this (I really wish there was still an overarching fighter board)?  Thanks for any input.</div>

<div></div>I have a level 68 zerk and a level 18 conjurer. I can tell you that a conjurer probably does better that a zerk early on in the game, down the road, however, I think the zerker is probably a better soloing class. Mobs start getting smarter and more resistant in the higher tiers. One thing mobs never seem to be immune to, however, is a good hard thrashing with a big sword.
