Been a way for some time well before DoF.When i left their was a lot of talk about the differances between Beserkers and Guards I was wondering what the current state of play was <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  Are Guardians the king tanks and Beserkers just a little behind with more dps etc ?Do they both have the same HP ?Can the both use the same equipment etc?<div></div>

Both have nearly the same amount of HP.  Both have very similar tanking ablities.  Zerkers do more dps and are better on ae aggro control.  Guardians have 1 more taunt and a little more defensive capablities.  They both wear the same armor.  Most noticable difference is Guardians have Tower of Stone which allows them with a tower sheild to abosorb 3 attacks.  We don't have anything like that.<div></div>

in essence just about all the tank classes are sort of ballanced.. i mean sort of because while some can do things solo that others cant, others can tank epic content others find alot more difficult, some tank casters better, some tank physical mobs better, etc etc etc.  There is no best tank for all situations these days, its really he who has the better gear tends to tank better (dependant on mob and situation aswell)<div></div>

Do monks and bruisers get tank spots nowadays then ?  Also can Beserkers solo effectively as starting a new character means a lot of low level content is likely to be dead.<div></div>

I think monks and bruisers have to "take" tanking spots, not get them <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Atleast for me thats how it is...As for soloing with Zerker, well, no, I would say bruiser is much more soloable...thats just my point of view tho <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

yep Zerkers can solo just fine. and yep monks / bruisers can tank just fine .. just depends on gear and the rest of the group doing their jobs right... same as it is for Guards/Zerks/Pallies/SKs<div></div>

Bruisers are a better soloing class than a zerker.  However i've soloed alot of content from the begining effectivley.  The only thing that seems to slow me down is the fact that i dont have a self heal like the Brawler classes do.  As far as the Best tanks yes all the fighthers are able to tank in there own niche.  However the 2 raid tanks you want to have are a Guardian/Zerker.  All the rest are off tanks 9 times outta 10.  Guardians and Zerkers just have the higher base Mitigation and higher avoidance.  And with all our self defensive buffs we raise our mitigation higher than any other tank can. <div></div>

<div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>In response to the previous poster and the ability to heal...well we do get 2 in combat health regens.  The one is a group buff, always on, and the other is a self buff and needs turned on every 15 minutes, and gives health every time we are struck with melee damage, which, if we are tanking, is quite often.  I have master 2 of the group one which is 85 per tick, and master 1 of the self buff one, which I think is a little lower...so ya we can get up to about 140ish health per tick (6 seconds?) while in combat.  Not alot at any one given time, but still pretty [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] good.  Plus I'm going to go ahead and try out the stamina line (since I had to respec and try out the 80% avoidance bug for a few days), which final ability gives 10% of power saved to my health.  I'll take a guess and say that, on average, every 6 seconds (a "tick&quot<img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> I may be using 300 power, so at 10% that's 30 going to my health, for a total of 170ish health every 6 seconds.</div><div>So if you are comparing total health of us versus total health of someone who can't heal themselves (guardians), IMO, this should be taken into consideration.  If an average fight is 1 minute (not saying it is, but for an example), and we are healing ourselves for 170ish every 6 seconds, that's 1700 more health (per minute) that we'll have that people don't see, by simply inspecting us.  Granted, this is not an exact number, and if we are already full on health, then we won't be regenerating more, but still think people should consider things like this.</div><div>Fresh in my memory because I was recently in a group, and they decided to have the guard tank, simply because he had like 350 more total health.  They didn't consider things like this (probably because they just don't know), or the fact that I had higher mitigation and avoidance, which was right there in front of them.  Anyways, after we almost beat it (a named in PoA), but wiped, I voiced my opinion, got to tank it, and won, with 1 less person, the guardian because he left group crying that he had nothing to do now.  I felt good, and made everyone in the group re-think their whole opinions on whether a certain tank class should tank, based solely on total health alone.</div><div>Most times a guardian and berserker and can tank equally.  Sometimes one of us is a little better than the other, simply because of certain resists that we may have and need because of a particular mob.  I think if you had a berserker and a guardian with equal health, mitigation, avoidance, resists, adept 3 or better spells, we'd have equal tanking ability (also assuming the person's playing the toons have equal knowledge of the game and their toon).  The guard has a one more taunt and one more defensive buff, and we have 2 in combat health regen's.</div><p>Message Edited by FightGame on <span class="date_text">03-27-2006</span><span class="time_text">03:49 PM</span></p>

Don't get me wrong i love our health regen.  However in the grand scheme of things its really only good for group mobs.  I raid constantly and when i am tanking in a raid the 150+ per tick is virtually useless when im getting hit for over 2k dmg.  And what i was saying about the bruiser/monk heal.  I believe the bruiser heal is like 60% of there max hp and its every 90 secs.  thats a hell of alot more than our regen.  However they cannont mitigate anywhere near what we can.  Nor can they avoid exteremly well against yellow or orange cons.<div></div>

I like our health regen for soloing and it seems to help with training adds and tanking single group content.  I agree it's not that helpful if you are the MT in a raid.<div></div>

<div></div><p>If you use a manastone and the bind wound (AA) out-of-combat self heal between fights, there is almost no down-time when soloing.  If you have food/drink up and your health regens going, you can solo very efficiently as a berserker.  The effect is even better if you solo against groups while using an imbued chest piece.</p><p>Berserkers get some self-heals at higher levels that only invoke when you die and save you (only for a few moments in some cases), and they can have great utility if used correctly. </p><p>Still, the bruiser self heal is just awesome and I envy them greatly.  If berserkers had that heal, we'd be ridiculously overpowered though.</p><p> </p>

<div></div><div></div><p>i just hit 62 the other day.. all my group time and my solo time taken into account i would estimate that i have soloed about 55 of those levels.</p><p> keep up on your armor, spells and weapons.you should constantly upgrade when you can.</p><p> like the above poster said, try to fight group mobs if you can. i was fighting groups of 3 double arrow down and chewing them up.</p><p>Message Edited by darasaild on <span class="date_text">03-30-2006</span><span class="time_text">02:09 PM</span></p>

<div>With regards to soloing, I'm finding there is less downtime between fights with my zerker than there ever was with my guardian. My zerker is still low level, but even now it's noticable.</div>
