A good one for PvP players. <a href="http://eq2.ogaming.com/db/items/ShieldofDarkBetryal.php" target="_blank">Shield of Dark Betrayal</a><div></div>You might also not want to narrow your search to fabled and legendary only.  There appears to be a treasured buckler with a Protection value of 640 from a quest in the Sanctum of the Scaleborn.

quick question how much would 100 protection add?some % of avoid?and by how much?cuz the regular T7 bucklers are 300ish, finding a 600one would be nice, but what would that extra prot really give? vs other stats that you might see.<div></div>

<div></div><div></div><div>Good question.  In the past, the higher the protection, aka Shield Factor, the more avoidance it would give.  As of the last update, they said that all kite and tower shields now have 12% avoidance, and bucklers are all 8%.  I think that pretty much means the the protection number doesn't mean anything now.  It would be nice if it gave us these 12 and 8 percent's in addition to whatever the protection number is, but I'm not sure.  Someone test it out pls!</div><div> </div><div>Also, I have a 7 or 8 hundred protection buckler, with STR STA and WIS.  Forget the name, but can post it later.  It's No-Trade.</div><p>Message Edited by FightGame on <span class="date_text">03-27-2006</span><span class="time_text">11:52 AM</span></p><p>Message Edited by FightGame on <span class="date_text">03-27-2006</span><span class="time_text">08:57 PM</span></p>

<div>If block percentage is only a matter of shield type, why upgrade your shield as you level other than for the stats? Do stats alone justify upgrading from the SBS to a pristine ironwood at a cost fo 2p? Probably not.</div>

<div>Epyx, have you gone done the stamina line to give extra avoidance when a buckler is equipped?</div>

FightGame
03-28-2006, 03:58 AM
<div>I agree [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]nitz, is why I am hoping that with the recent changes, that you get a base 12% and 8% for kite/tower and buckler, respectively, PLUS some extra for whatever the protection (aka shield factor) number is.</div>

<div></div><div></div><div></div>Epyx,  if you want me or anyone to try to figure this out, we will also need to know how much agility and/or any +defense that may be on each of these shields.  They add to the avoidance as well, and if we are simply comparing shields and what exactly the protection number, aka shield factor does (and not the stats that come with them), we'll have to subtract these.<p>Message Edited by FightGame on <span class="date_text">03-27-2006</span><span class="time_text">04:27 PM</span></p>

<div></div><div></div>Well i cant remeber the name of this shield, but it drops of the last guy in Vaults, legendary shield and is priest wearable  indcating that its a buckler seeing they cant wear anything else but Bucklers and it has awesome stats along with a 1024 sheild factor, not bad for a Buckler, but im not sure if its acually classed as a Buckler, i think it also has +6 Parry, cant remeber, been awhile since i seen it.<p>Message Edited by -Aonein- on <span class="date_text">03-28-2006</span><span class="time_text">10:42 AM</span></p>

<div></div><p>They really need to add classifications back on items so we can tell exactly what they are. Having an AA system that requires specific weapons types and shield types means we should have a way to tell exactly what we are equiping. I have seen shields that are priest equipable like the one posted above, but by looking at the icons you can't be sure if it a kite shiled or a buckler. I won't be wasting a respec to try out the Sta line unless I know for sure that I have a decent buckler to use.</p>

Actually priests seem to be able to wear round shields now which do not work with the STA line.  Its actually driving me nuts.  I actually like this line but a protection of 300ish is killing me even with maxing out the bucklers parry skill.  The guard listed ^ i have seen but not tried on the line.I totally agree put the item type classification back in the game so we arent runnign around guessing anymore.  So stupid of them to take it out.<div></div>

<div></div><p>I put this post in a few different threads around the forums. Hopefully it will get some attention and maybe we can get something done about all the item classification confusion.</p><p>I agree, having classification of items put back in the examination window would not only be a huge help with the number of AA's that require specific equipment to use them, but it is actually neccessary in many cases.</p><p>I am currently looking for a decent buckler so that I can try the STA line of the warrior AA's, so I went a did a search of secondary items that templars can use because it is my understanding that priests can only use bucklers as a shield type. However, after going through all the shields that came up in my search I noticed a few of them had kite shield and tower shield icons and the names gave no clue as to what type of shield it was considered. Also, talking with one of the mystics in my guild last night, he told me that the shield he is currently using is not considered a buckler, which on one hand makes sense since it is called the Enameled Kite Shield of the Witchdoctor, but on the other hand makes no sense since he shouldn't be able to use a kite shield at all. I would hate to bid on a shield drop in a raid thinking that it might be a buckler only to find out it wasn't and that another class would have gotten a bigger benefit using it.</p><p>Shields are just one of the equipment types that are very confusing. For example, The Dark Fury Halberd of Anuk is considered a spear when using the AA line that requires spears even though when examined it is called out as a Two Hand Slash weapon. I would bet most warriors wouldn't know this unless they tried it out accidently or happened to read it somewhere, which means they would probably end up looking for a piercing weapon when they might already have a good one sitting in their inventory.</p><p>Please dev's, put classifications back on items.</p>

<div>i'm a little confused to tell you the truth...</div><div> </div><div>Grizzfazzle shield is what i'm using right now, but have been looking for a good buckler, and planing to respec to sta line.  (right now i have the agility line)</div><div> </div><div>when i have no shield, and then add grizzfazzle, i gain about 10.2% to my avoidance.</div><div> </div><div>we had azjer'oroz guard drop last night, and another member of our party gained it.  when he eqpts it from no-shield to azjer'oroz... he goes up 12.8%.</div><div> </div><div>he doesnt have any of the shield bonus sta line spells either!!!</div><div> </div><div>so it looks like i'm doing halls every night until i get that shield, and try it out for myself, if it actually gives me more protection then my grizzfazzle tower shield, then odviously its a no-brainer to go with the stamina line.   but looking at protection factor.. 795 to 1200+, from bucker to tower, and grizz actually having better stats, i'd would have expected grizfazzle to give me much better protection?!?!</div><div> </div><div>-Erick</div>

<i>"we had azjer'oroz guard drop last night, and another member of our party gained it.  when he eqpts it from no-shield to azjer'oroz... he goes up 12.8%."</i>Keep in mind It might not give you the same % increase in avoidance though as it gave him.  Don't forget that AGI and protection value as well I think go down in their effectiveness with the more avoidance the character gains.  So if the guy is a healer and has low avoidance to begin with then equipping a nice buckler like that from no sheild at all will cause his avoidance to go up considreably more than what he had than if a tank that has a higher avoidance already equips the same item.<div></div>

<div></div><p>actually i found a bug.</p><p>my avoidance reads 60.1 normally (65 when fully buffed)</p><p>but if you add up the base, parry, block i should have 78.3% avoidance.</p><p>my grizzfazzle shield gives me 16.9 in the details for block, but its only giving me 8% to the normally displayed avoidance...</p><p> </p><p>anyone else having this problem?</p><p> </p><p>-Erick</p>

<div></div><p>scratch the bug.. its correct.. the displayed value is the actual overall chance of avoidance.. the other numbers are the numbers it check, and in which order there checked.</p><p> </p><p>-Erick</p>
