New to EQ2, some questions for you Zerkers

<div>Hello, I am fairly new to this new world of EQ and still deciding on which class is the right one for me. If you folks don't mind I have some basic questions about your class. I have browsed through the boards, but I understand that a lotof stuff was revamped in the last expansion and I am not sure how current some of the info is. I appreciate any info you good folks could give.</div><div> </div><div>What I am looking for in a class, is more of a DPS than a tank class. I undersand that I would never be in the same league as  the tier 1 classes, but are we considered to be in the tier 2 DPS classes? I basically want to be able to wield a big honkin sword and deal some good DPS with it.</div><div> </div><div>Speaking of big honking weapons, can i dish out as much DPS with a 2  hander as duel weilding?</div><div> </div><div>Is there an updated link to post LU20 skills and AA's. I would also like to see a list with our fluff abilities. <div></div><p>As far as I am concerned, Berserkers are the funnest class in the game... but I wouldn't play one if you want to get into raids later on. You'll find tons of discussion on these boards about it, but one thing I see that all the discussions have... Zerkers are like the fat kid on game day. We are the jacks of all trades and the masters of none.</p><p>I love zerkers for soloing and for small groups... if that's your play style zerkers are for you... but if you want to play a zerker for DPS, roll a scout or a mage. We already have a ton of people that thought they were playing a DPS class. Zerkers do awesome DPS for a plate tank clas.. but our role isn't dps. We are tanks. Chances are, you will level up into the upper levels and then come back to these boards and post abut how you wish your zerker could wear leather armor and out DPS a ranger...... and you will be totally trashed for saying it.</p><p> </p><p>Just my 2cp</p>

<div></div><div></div><p>wow, i feel like i'm getting trashed now. I did say in my original post that i knew i would NEVER reach the DPS lvl of Rangers/Assasins/Wizzies. But I merely wanted to know if we could be considered a Tier 2 DPS class.</p><p>Any thoughts on the 2 hander vs Duel Wielding. I'm sure there are some parsers out there with some good input. When you play a tank class, your dps is tier 3 at best. However, versus group encounter, berserker dps can get to tier 2 with good weapons and buffs. Like what the previous poster said, if you are more concerned with dps, play a scout or mage. Scouts are primarily dps class with some tanking ability. Only play a berserker if you want to be a tank with some solid dps for group encounter. Bottom line is berserker is mainly a tank. Just take a look at the combat arts. No combat arts with high damage on them. All AE combat arts are on long refresh timer. Multiple combat arts with hate and mitigation buffs. If you are looking for a tank that can dps like a scout. Don't think such class exists.<div></div>

I just don't want to see someone pick a zerker for DPS and then realize that after 60 levels they really wanted to be a scout. This is one of the problems that really plagues the zerker community ATM. It seemed that most of your inquiries were aimed towards how you could maximize DPS... and really that's not what a zerker is about.</p><p>We are probably the most versatile class, but we aren't the best in any department. You will probably find that yuo are looked over in a lot of groups in favor of another class. I'm just trying to give you the reality of it. Zerkers ARE tanks, but will normally be passed over in a tank spot in favor of a Guard. We can play a DPS/Buff role... but there are classes that yield more benefit.</p><p> </p>

If you want to be a tank and dps, be a Bruiser. Berserkers do decent dps but at the end of the day, we are tanks and our dps reminds us of that fact. If someone is looking for dps in a group, you won't get asked. If they are looking for a tank, you will. It's that simple.I'm not thrashing you either, but from what you're saying I don't think you would be happy playing a Berserker. Pick an Assassin if you want high melee dps, or a Monk/Bruiser if you want a little less dps but fancy being a little "tougher"On the other hand, if you decide that you like tanking Berserkers are great, but when you get to raid level expect to be replaced by a Guardian. We CAN tank raids, in fact I do regularly, but Guradians really are the best choice.As many people have said, we are the jack of all trades, master of none.
