Insolent gibe:Note: The threat values of insolent gibe were adjusted recently. The values are out of date, but the effect is the same.I've noticed this issue ever since LU# 16. Since they changed all out of encounter AE's to a max of 8 targets
Blackguard wrote: - All area-of-effect spells that affect only a single encounter no longer have a target limit. - All area-of-effect spells that do not target a specific encounter now affect a maximum of 8 targets.
The issue i've noticed is. If i'm standing in the middle of a crowd of players or players pets, and i cast insolent gibe to agro nearby mobs (within 15m) the mobs dont seem to be hit by insolent gibe. I do see the taunt graphic show on the closest players and pets to my character tho.By taunt graphic i mean the flames on the face of the character model.Since KoS has been released and i'm exping again, i notice this issue far more often. I also notice it more since the taunts were changed, taunts are extremely effective now (thanks soe! woot!). If i cast Insolent gibe any newly agroed mobs (un-damaged) would normally run directly for me, but if i'm standing in the middle of the group with a few pets around, the mob will not get hit by Insolent gibe. Typically running straight for a healer. The current work around. It seems to count the eight closest NPCs/PC's to me when i cast it. So i just move onto the newly agroed mobs and cast insolent gibe. This works great, doesn't require me to change targets since typically i'm the person people are assisting, and the mobs get agro on me and stay there since the dps dont target and hit the newly acquired mob.I've tried /bugging this problem, but i've very seldom seen results from /bugging.Is anyone else noticing this issue? Would there be a more effective way to show and confirm this as a bug? If we can get some good info, that can prove this is an issue. We can repost it on the combat arts forum, requesting a fix. Currently this really hinders the effectiveness of the spell, and i dont believe offensive AE's are suppose to count players towards their max target count. So, have you noticed similiar issues with insolent gibe? Any info is appreciated.

I know what you are talking about. I have noticed it too when I cast IG when other players in my group are close by it looks like they are actually getting taunted instead of the mobs...very odd.

I have seen it as well. I also noticed it taunting player pets. I can't confirm if it's taking away from any target limitation though. At one point I had taunted 4 pets and 3 players and still managed to pick up 3 adds. It might have just been a side effect of casting an AOE hostile spell. No one else touched the adds. I don't know for sure.

You basically just have to go by your "gut".I suppose, if you get 8 players and have them stand clsoe to you, then stand in a crowd of mobs and cast IG. See if you agro the mobs? Also try with multiply encoutners around, see if you actually agro 8 mobs.Hmm, i might test this when i get time. Which seems rare lately, with all this grinding exp.

I will just send them a bug report saying that it appears to be taunting players instead of just mobs, which is the truth. It does appear that way at least. Then they can figure it out for themselves.

I've never seen anything i've /bugged fixed. Seen constructive posts from others solve problems tho.I've /bugged it like i said, hopefully it'll be addressed. Been an non-game breaking issue for a while now though.

I'm experiencing this as well. And I think it really is bugged, for a couple reasons. First is simply because of experience, and I see it happening. Second is related to the pet bug. You know the one that keeps you in combat mode. If it's considering the pet as being a target to fight, then it may be considering the pet (and quite possibly others) as part of the 8 total allowed on the IG.

I was helping a guildie in CT last night and using Insolent Gibe on the top of one of the small pyramids. I too noticed the graphic effect on the two other members of the group but I was also pulling mobs from the base of the pyramid to the top.

It would appear that the taunt part is working against mobs but the graphic is showing on group members.

Just my observation.

Skagarrin

Lvl 60 Zerker (Guk)

Last night in Cazel's Mesa, Insolent Gibe failed me ... over and over. I had a couple pet classes with me and when we had everyone together in a nice little area i would be taunting the mobs (had a lower level group besides me so we ended up with repops) and when the mobs popped on us, i threw up insolent gibe....and watched them completely ignore it (while within in the area of effect) and go onto the pets and healers and basically everyone but me. It got real messy...real quick. And that happened a total of 3 times last night with Insolent gibe at best bringing me two of the targets at best.

I never made that connection, but it may make sense. I always seem to remain stuck in combat when we get an add as i pull. Which occasionally i'll just use insolent gibe to get agro off this add.I'll have to pay more attention tonight. Thanks for bringing that up

Message Edited by Mjollnyr on 02-28-200609:27 AM

I have also noticed the combat bug with summoner pets being more prevalent when there were adds from more than one encounter. But I don't use IG every time there are adds and the bug still seems to happen whether I use it or not.

Message Edited by infernus006 on 02-28-200612:45 PM

I'll be interested to test this tonight tho.
