<div></div><div>I had hoped any shield would do so I used my point in STA tree, but... yes only a buckler will do. Well I will spend the 1 silver and respec. To bad though STA  tree could be very nice.</div><div> </div><div>I really would like to hear from the dev. why they picked a buckler...there have to be a good reason,..right?</div>

<div></div><p>Assuming the Double Attack ranks up like other skills, it should come out to 100%. With a one handed weapon, that really boosts damage from auto-attack. It might not build like others, but no one I've seen say it doesn't even uses the STA line, so I won't go one way or another until I see it with my character or someone with it actually leveled to Rank 8 would say. Even if it doesn't, it would still add a fair amount of Double Attacks anyways.</p><p>You are trading the Block from a Tower Shield for a better Riposte chance.</p><p>It isn't for everyone, but some people would like the improved offensiveness of a defense.</p>

<div></div>Can anyone confirm or deny that gaining additional ranks with that skill (like 4 at least) allows the use of an actual sheild rather than just a buckler?  If not then what do the additional ranks for that skill do then?If not I may still go ahead and stay with this path just for the extra HP and the final ability which I do still want pretty bad and just ignore the buckler skills...I know that I will never and I mean never trade my tower sheild for a buckler though under any circumstance, I mean SCREW that.  Maybe they will change it someday when they realize what a dumb idea it was to make it that way.  At least I can always respec if I change my mind too, which is nice.  If so then I would probably put more points into the WIS path and then some into the STR path as well to get that extra hate bonus and crit chances and just ignore the STA path altogether.<div></div><p>Message Edited by infernus006 on <span class="date_text">02-27-2006</span><span class="time_text">06:23 PM</span></p>

I will send a negative feedback to them about this as well.  I know the Guardians are PO'ed about it too.  Maybe when they get enough complaints about it they will rethink their mistake and correct it.  One can only hope.  Even if they have to reduce the effectiveness of the abilities or change them into something else entirely, that's OK, as long as they get rid of that stupid buckler requirement one way or another I will be happy.  For now I'm still going with the STA line because I really want the extra HP and the final ability.  I will just ignore the other two abilites for now, even though it's such a waste of points.  <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  At least I can always respec if I regret that decision.  In any case, I will never wear a buckler, I simply refuse.<div></div>

<div></div>Could someone confirm that you cannot simply apply the achievement with buckler equipped and then change shield whilst keeping effect.  Noticed that other classes (see Fury) where weapon is specified e.g. axe, seem to be able to change weapon and still keep effect.

<div>Actually, it may be deliberate.</div><div>- Crusaders have an entire AA line that rely on beeing on horseback. They have a AA line that requires a symbol in the offhand (yep, a 0 armor, 0 block symbol, not even a buckler :p ) to work</div><div>- Rogues have a AA line that requires a buckler in the off hand. They also have a AA line that requires an <u>unequiped</u>  offhand (fencing style)</div><div>- Brawlers have a AA line that works with strict unarmed combat only (ie : no rods, staves, fist weapons equipped ...)</div><div> </div><div>Basically, every archetype has at least 1 or 2 AA line that requires sub-optimal equipment choice to work. On the other hand, most of those abilities are very powerful, and aside form the steep requisite, the powers in those AA lines are very desirable. Actually, the fact that many people are upset by the seemingly "stupid" requisites from these lines seems to indicate that they deliberately tried to give players an incentive to forego their usual weapon setup in order to gain those desirable AAs.</div><div> </div><div>To sum up : I think it was SOE intention to give people a diversity of choice. Either you dabble in those "unusual" AA lines and accept the tradeoff, or you pick a different AA choice.</div><div> </div>

Yeah well the problem is when you have a line like that that you want to get for the stats and other abilites that it offers and you have to suffer with wasting points on two whole abilites that are totally useless to you because you have no desire to ever use them at all because of the sutpid requirement.<div></div>

Most AAs only require the weapon for 1 of them but the sta line for warriors requires it for 3.<div></div>
