<DIV>Last night I, a 50 Zerk, was in a group with a few RL friends, one of which was a 51 Bruiser. We were in Sol Eye and taking turns tanking to keep the mobs rolling, based on who had power at the time. We both were in full T5 gear with the exception that I was weilding an EBBC and he was using 2 T6 sticks. We both had all adept 1 CAs.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When he was tanking, no agro issues between the two of us. When I was tanking, there was. I would pull with an arrow, drop into Offending Defense, pop off single target taunt, pop off taunting attack, then start my regular CAs for dmg. When the single taunt or taunting attack would cycle back through, I'd use em again. All would go well at first, but when the mob got down to about 30% health, pop, it turn to salute the bruiser. Since he was a RL friend on Ventrillo, I know he was not using taunts. And by that point, I was at approx 50% power and he was up around 70% power. So he wasn't going full steam. Now this was mostly on single triple up heroics. When I would tank the linked group heroic, we wouldn't have much problem, but then again, the mobs weren't standing near as long.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Suggestions? Do Bruisers have just that much more agro? And yes, I have a guildie making me about 7 adept 3s as I type, including all taunts and stances. But all things held equal, if the Bruiser did the same thing, wouldn't the problem still exist?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks for your time and input!</DIV> <DIV>Bjoern</DIV>

<DIV>Bruisers naturally do more dmg than us probally why they also have various stances that put of some sick dmg procs or one that gives agro every hit?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>he could of been using any one acidently without knowing you should ask him</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>imo bruisers and monks need to be brought down in DPS</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Some said they would gladly loose DPS for tank ability some said they would loose Tank ability</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>SoE needs to make it go either way /shrug</DIV>

try not to worry about it too much right now...for one thing he's got a level on you and your still in t5 and he's in t6 now and i had a lot of problems keeping aggro after the expansion when i was still in my early 50s, but it got a lot better after about level 53 or 54. you do have upgades for pov, bully, and offending defense coming up that help a lot plus the option to upgrade fearsome shout to master2 which i recommend. <div></div>
Start by upgrading your weapon. When pulling, pop bully and fearsome shout before the mob is attacked by the bruiser and use promise of voilence as well.

<P>Question about weapon upgrade. Since I have limited funds and can either upgrade my 2H or my DWs, which would be the better investment first? And any suggestions on a weapon or two that I might seek out for the upgrade?</P> <P>Thanks!</P> <P>Bjoern</P>

<DIV>Actually I disagree here with the last response. Upgrade your taunts first then your weapons. Though zerks can do ok dps.. the dps is not gonna be enough to get and keep agro. Its all about the taunts. I think you will notice a big change from adept 1 to adept 3. Not to say that you will be able to keep agro but it will help. If that doesnt work put your friend on a 2-5 second rule. Tell him to hold attacks till appx. 2-5 seconds after you have initiated the encounter. Remember also others need to know thier skills/spells and should be good enough to control thier agro. Being that this is a real life friend it should be easy to talk about it and try new things. Hope this helps a little. Good luck..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ledic</DIV> <DIV>60 zerker</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Moorguard plays a Bruiser, nuff said.. His missus probably plays a Brigand.. And his best mate a Fury... people he hates play Templars, Illusionists, SK's and he likes to watch Defilers die on the pull.... <div></div>

I guarantee its the weapon set up, his T6 dual weilds probably have [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] near same dmg ratio as your EBBC, i remember that back in the day it was nice and all, but if you could stretch for a cobalt 2hander it would do you wonders trust me. Also remember your using this EBBC he's useing 2 T6 batons and they made it so that Dual weild got boosted up in dmg/ speed. Add that to the fact he's a bruiser = Reason your losing agro.

<P><BR><B>Bruiser changes:</B><BR>- The proc for Roughhousing now deals damage according to the type of weapon being used.<BR><BR></P> <P>That's what I would suspect is the cause.</P>

Guardians primarily hold aggro with taunt abilities. Berserkers use a combination of taunts/damage to hold aggro. Brawlers primaily use damage. Against a group of mobs, I typically only need to taunt once when I pull and let my damage do the rest, against a single target, I usually spam my single target taunt and my attack/taunt combo (currently Outrage and Brutal Pledge) and let the regular DPS crowd deal the damage. I follow that up with a stun or two if I am taking a significant amount of damage and my attack speed debuff against melee types or a timed focus debuff/interrupt against caster types. Until you get Outrage, or if you have a really good taunt (adept 3 or master), make sure you get Goading Gesture from Splitpaw. It's a hefty taunt that has a 10% chance to taunt the mob a second time. It easily out aggroed my Adept 1 Bully even before including the 10% chance to taunt again. I recommend having both up however due to the fact that Bully (or it's upgrade Outrage) can interrupt casters. If your abilities are at least Adept quality, you shouldn't have a problem. If you do, the problem probably has to do with a lack of DPS aggro. For comparison, my T6 dual cobalts have a damage rating of 37 each, a combined of 74 (also less chance to be riposted compared to a 2hander). I'm guessing thats a fair bit higher than a T5 equivelant (E)BBC. Even when I'm going with a 1-hander and a shield, I'm betting my T6 1-hander has at least a comparable rating to the BBC not including the benefits of having the shield (extra stun and avoidance). The general rule of thumb is to use at least the same tier of equipment as the mobs your facing. It's not always possible depending on what your current finances are but it is something to work to in order to successfully tank for your current level. <div></div>
