new to game-please help me choose

Hi there everyone. need some advice Played this game at launch. quit soon after. over the last yr i have been playing WoW and Daoc. Did trial of Isle last week. Liked what i saw and here i am back playing. This is what i seek. A class that can tank and hold own in most fights. can solo well for most areas. I know there are places that one shud not be able to solo like most dungeons or epicheroic quests. That said, and for those who may know(to give u and idea of the class i like to play) I played a Troll Beastlord in EQ1 and soloed very well. I played an Orc Hunter in WoW and soloed very well. I played a Troll Thane in Daoc and soloed very well. I loved the Thane because he could solo but also had some wonderful tanking and protect abilities for groups. I am not looking to be able to solo to 60 in a month. Slow pace is fine by me. Took me about 7 months to get to 65 with Troll bst. (aug2002 - spring 2003) but with bst i had long  EQ exp (started game mar99) so i knew where to go and what to do for the most part. I decided to go warrior-Guardian at first for this game. My warrior is now L14.4 and from reading both this class board and Guardian board i am unsure what to pick. Guardian board made me think zerker(is why i am here now reading) but from reading here maybe  i shud stick with original plan (guardian) I need to make a choice in a few days so i am asking here and probably on the guardian board. Guardian or Zerker. please help me decide.

Guardians tend to be muchmore limited to grouping since they are tanks, and tanks only. This applies to berserkers as well but we have better prequisites for soloing, thanks to our DPS. Haven't heard anyone denying this. I really think guardians need some kind of bonus to their mitigitation, perhaps by improving their defensive stance? I believe it would also depend on what race you play and what kind of character you want to play. I am not a role player so much in game but by playing these type of games i find a "feel" for my character, with Serps for example i originally foresaw a shadowknight, but in playing my first levels liked the "warrior" concept for him, then when i hit around your level i obtained a two-handed battle axe.....the look sold me and i could no longer entertain guardian possibilities. Now i could not imagine Serps being anything but a berserker.....awhile back i joined a guild and i was running around the feerott with one of its leaders a templar, i had so much fun grabbing several mobs and going berserk with my rage and AoE's...priceless, just me and a healer and watching damage fly off of multiple targets.....guardian had been my intention but now its the furthest thing from my mind of possibilites for an alt.....Berserker and loving it! I would also like to add that as a berserker i can dps or tank just fine something i have heard is more of a problem with guardians, i will give they probably can hold aggro better and have significant buffs for saving group members from aggro but i have yet to see a guardian in a well mixed group score the 3rd rank dps consistently....but as i began with this post i would go with what you forsee this character being, when you get to 19th see how you feel then if you have not made a decision and if you don't like what you get....well you can always make another character
