Well, I logged in yesterday to check out the increase made to DW. It was a pretty nice change to the damage ratings, but I do have a question. Why is it that my t5 2h Fabled Archons Great Flail now has a lower rating than a combined damage rating from my SBD and just a junk treasured off-hand (Traedin's skinning knife I believe). I mean, the rating on my flail was like 54.5 before the update and didn't change. Now the combined rating of my two dual wielders is like 56. It just doesn't seem right that the damage rating of my fabled should be lower than these two weapons combined. There's no proc on my fabled, so bascially I don't see the need to use it anymore over my DW items. Am I looking at this wrong? Are the damage ratings on dual wield items additive?

Yes, you are reading that correctly

The damage rating on DW weapons was increased by 20% across the board, so now DW will do 20% more autoswing damage than a 2H. This has been done to offset the fact that DW weapons drop more attacks during the cast-time of combat arts than 2H weapons do. 20% is probably more than enough to cover this disparity.

Proc chance while DWing has also been increased with the patch to offset the fact that 2H would proc effects 2-6x as often as DW while using combat arts.

I'll test how this has changed and decide whether it's worthwhile switching, but early impression is that DW and 2H of equal quality are fairly equal now for DPS, so it will likely come down to accessibility (faster weapons of one type are still lower DPS than slower weapons of that type, however).

As for your specific case, your Fabled 2H will still outdamage your treasured+legendary pair of DW weapons by a decent margin.

Forgive me, I guess I'm still not quite understanding. If the combined damage rating on my DW weapons is greater than the damage rating on my Fabled 2h, how does this mean that my fabled will do more damage? Will the hits land more often for a Fabled weapon than for say a treasured or legendary weapon?

I personally think that since they made this change it would be nice to see an increase in 2hd weapon stats across the board. If they are going to make the weapons do the same amount of dmg they should also be equal in stats. That was what I thought the trade off for using a 2hander was, less stats but more dps.

Now, if the damage ratings are roughly equal (as in your case), the 2H will still do significantly more damage.

However, if you have a fabled 2H and 2x fabled DW, the combined damage ratings of the DW will be 20% higher than the 2H, and the result should be that they do similar damage (depending on what and how you fight and what buffs you have on you, etc).
