View Full Version : 60 Berserker first impression of raiding post CC expansion
Ok yesterday we raided the Raid version of the Lost City.... Full lvl 60 raid, We explored around for a bit, killed some stuff but after our armor broke we left.... FIrst off............. IF YOU DONT HAVE A BALANCE RAID ie. All healer types, dps and tank types you wont get far raiding now... SoE truly made raiding a challange, IMO Kudos to them.... This is for all the guilds who only have X amount of healer types and will stick to ONE tank type ( Guards etc etc ) you will lose if you dont learn how to adapt .... Second..... Taunt needs to be unresistable again.... IMO even with it unresistable it will be easy to rip agro off of a tank.... DEVS PLS READ THIS you NEED TO MAKE TAUNT UNRESISTABLE..... even with it restored raids will still be CHALLANGING simple because you desgined it that way..... Third.... Everyone who is a raider learn each others strengths and weaknesses in each class, believe me you need to think more now in these situations or else you will wipe... ( yeah it can suck at times to know what other classes can REALLY do but trust me its worth it ) Fourth ..... I understand alot of resentment atm towards Brawlers etc tank wise but dont worry , they arent as powerful as you think , referring to my first point above YOU NEED ALL TANK TYPES NOW .... as you raid more in these raid zones and contested targets you will understand why .... Berserkers as tank ARE THE WORST MITIGATION WISE BECAUSE to hold agro effectively in raids YOU NEED TO BE IN OFFENSE STANCE ..... the DPS hit we take from defense stance IS HUGE AND YES IT COUNTS ALOT TOWARDS OUR AGRO ABILITY.... IF you DONT have Insolent GIbe,Vision of Madness and Open Wounds ( preferred at ad3 but adept 1 will do ) dont even think of tanking on raids... AND yeah BERSERKERS ROCK IN MULTIPLE ENCOUNTER FIGHTS! Also im one of them Tanks who think that Guardians need more flavor for their class .... as it stands they are hurting since they have NOTHING UNIQUE WHICH MAKES THEM VIABLE IN CRUCIAL TIMES IN A RAID ETC FOR TANKING WHICH THEY WONT DO ALL THE TIME NOW SINCE ALOT FIGHTS DEMAND DIFFERENT TANK STEPUPS .... These are my intial thoughts on raid POST CC and expansion Discuss............... ( pls no flames i want ideas from zerkers and other classes but no flames pls ) <div></div>

<DIV>Comming from a raiding guild, I'm glad they made this change....It's gonna make every raid mob have it's flavor, and raids will be more divers in strategies....It's kinda of bowring always having the same old role in a fight....I like the fact that roles will be switched around from mob to mob.... It might suck for the smaller raiding guilds thow.</DIV>
Are you saying that you need to switch main tanks for different encounters? or are you saying that you need each type of tank on every encounter? if the latter, please explain how they all work together? Also, I read somewhere that Insolent Gibe, etc... (52,55,58 spells) don't have upgrades. Basically adept 1 is the same as an adept 3. I also read that they are going to change the wording on them, instead of changing them to upgrade from adept 1 - 3. Have you seen this, or did you upgrade one and notice a difference?

<DIV> I've heard in several places that for raids you'll have to have different tanks for different mobs. Thus far I have seen nothing to support this. My guild did the Gates of Akhet Aken raid zone and it wasn't magic damage that killed us. It was always 6k crushing or other physical damage auto attacks. Also, when I would taunt (especially on the vampire named mobs) 75% of the taunts would be resisted even if the mobs were yellow con. I don't see how having another tank can change taking 6k physical damage from auto attacks. I know that berserkers have good cold resists and guardians good heat etc, but when it's always the physical damage that kills you, what difference does having a different tank make?</DIV>

But there IS an adept 3 version that can be made. Only thing is, your tradeskiller has to get a copy of Ancient Scroll: Insolent Gibe or whatever it's called. These are basically rare type spells/abilites that don't come naturally with the sage reciepe books. Right now i am trying to harvest a pearl in order to have my own made. I have also heard that there are spells only avaliable from the Faction houses. (Truth, Blades etc). They have most in App 2 form. But there are others? that are quested? Can't confirm this as i don't have access to the Truth house yet. I'm thinking maybe adept 1 insolent (amoung others) may need some quest or Ally faction to get. <p>Message Edited by Immohtep on <span class=date_text>10-14-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:32 AM</span>
<DIV>Insolent Gibe was originally only available by the ancient scroll recipes (which are pretty easy to get), but they added the adept 1 drops also. I've gotten the drop for the 52 fury spell before. The thing I read is that not all of the "ancient scroll" spells are upgrades, some of them have the same exact stats as the adept 1 drops. So, you should probably check on that before using a pearl and finding out it wasn't an upgrade. If anyone has the adept 1 or adept 3 could you post a screenshot so we can see if there is a difference?</DIV>

.....................mentioned above as one of your raiding strats for zerkers was to go into offensive stance for increased agro. was riposet dmg increased against you by much due to this stance? <div></div>
<div></div>Sorry i didnt make it clear enough, i used offense stance for trash mobs and defensive for one baddy named i tried , i got 2 shotted in defensive lol, so did our guards but we had a monk tank it and we won lol... talk about how powerful their psunami skiill is Yeah loot really sucks atm, the risk vs reward for raiding is crap, you would think i payed $30 for an expansion and had THAT at least complete but no i guess SoE decided to forget loot tables on raid mobs ............ <div></div><p>Message Edited by Styker on <span class=date_text>10-15-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:10 AM</span>

last night i took a group into pof and we killed some harpies.............there were 3 mob ^ encounters and the singles were ^^^ group encounters............i played around with the stances and ran my parser...........i was very suprised to see that in offensive stance i took less dmg and was able to hold agro very well versus defensive stance. as for the named mobs we faced we happened to have a coercer in the group,,,,,,there root spell is hella good now............they can root the named mob and everyone just stands back and uses there ranged weps............root almost never broke.............if you dont use somthing similar then this then as stated above you really have to do some research on the mob your gonna face and decide what class is best to tank it. <div></div>
