View Full Version : do you use splinters?
<DIV>So I am always flip-flopping about using these. I am the tank for my guild, and we almost always have a necro along for anything we do. Obviously I have no problems using splinter/sacraficial heart when the healers are keeping me in the green, and I obviously don't use them when constantly going down into the orange/red. But there is all that middle ground.... Mostly when I tank I throw on a sheild and a 1h cedar club, then switch out to my SM when I am around 1000 power left to go and I seem to really only ever run out of power when someone yanks agro away and I have to get it back, but I am still wondering what you all think of them and how often you use them.</DIV>

I like them but I never use them during fights, only between fights. I have hex dolls I prefer to keep in both of my activatable slots during actual fights. I use splinters and manastone after fighting to help regen power faster for the next fight. <div></div>

I would suggest starting with Screaming Mace and using a Manastone as one of your activatable slots. Some people argue that using a SM you can use agro, this is pretty much BS. 250 hate is next to nothing compared to the 250 power you get (my numbers might be off but the idea is still the same). 250 power = 2x attacks or 2x taunts or 1x group buff, all of which are great hate builders. As for the manastone, while I realize it hits you for 690 or w/e, but if you time it right it doesn't make a difference. Alot of mobs that you have to worry about 690 life with are mobs that hit your with spike damage (i.e. moderate, moderate, HIGH, moderate, HIGH, moderate, etc. etc. etc.), so if you time your stone to when you're at full health after a spike it shouldn't be a big deal at all.

Master Shard of essence regens about 300, couldnt see myself tanking without these and especially with arts like Soulscream (Arch Lich Udalan). I always have Sliver, Splinter, Shard, Sacrificial Heart and Dark Heart in my bags and call for one when it gets used, so many mobs drain mana its just necessary, heard theyre nerfing them though 8 (

I have them available, but rarely use them. I usually tank with Prismatic LS (unless a slash immune mob, then SM) and have chanters in the raid for power regen. I generally have no power issues and almost always keep my power bar around the same % as the mob's HP. On fights against power draining mobs, we generally have plenty of wizzies to feed power and in those cases, with all master1 taunts and using buffs (esp Anarchy) and a few high dmg attacks, I rarely have issues holding Agro. We usually have a guardian MT, but I have tanked nearly every raid out there with success. But, it's all about using what's available to you to the best of your abilities... and if low on power and HP isn't dropping like a rock, Manastone and the Hearts/ Shards are very useful.
