View Full Version : New New Training options

Like I mentioned in this post (http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=4&message.id=14295), things on Beta are subject to severe and sudden change. The new Training options I listed have been revoked, and replaced with the following choices, starting at 14 instead of 10:

14:
Provoke
Rallying Cry
Shield Bash
Wound

24:
Focus Rage
Enrage
Fury
Raging Strike

34:
Reckless Stance
Weapon Shield
Mad Cry
Screaming Fury

44:
Berserker Assault
Offending Defense
Frenzy
Unflinching Will

54:
Infuriate
Blood Boil
Fearsome Shout
Unbridled Fury

So essentially, everyone lost their shot at level 55-60 Master II spells. This means (for now) our level 58 defensive stance is no longer an option, but luckily our level 44 stance is still available. It is likely the Master II Unflinching Will is as good or better than an Adept III Courageous Will, but I don't have numbers to post yet.

Notably missing are Outrage and Bully, our last two single-target taunts. Fearsome Shout partially makes up for it, but not quite. Blood Boil takes the place of Destructive Rage (well, not quite), and Frenzied Blows and Taunting Defense are also no longer available.

I guess with this set I would be picking Unflinching Will and Fearsome Shout at 44 and 54, but I'm not sure. I'll probably be posting another set of screenshots later on.

najena.konk

Message Edited by konofo on 08-30-2005 06:42 AM

What a joke honestly, why dont they just throw out all the Offensive choices and replace them with pure Defensive choices and Taunts because there basically forcing us to go that line.

After the combat changes go through, how many groups do you think your going to get invited too for DPS or utility? No where near as many as we do now if any, 90% of the time we get groups after this will be to tank, the other 10% will be to fill groups wether they be in raids or normal every day grouping.

As if anyone is going to even pick Unbridled Fury at 54.

The thing that is out of place here is Reckless Stance at 34 and Unflinching Will at 44. Why have two of our Defensive stances 10 lvls apart from each other? Why?

Seeing as though when it was tier by tier, there was a 10 lvl span we could chose across giving a very hard to decision to make, which it should be, now there basically giving us a 4 lvl span.

For example, all the CA's in the 34 range go from 30 to 34, all the CA's in the 44 range go from 40 to 44, all the CA's in the 54 range got from 50 to 54, they all do it, 4 lvl span. They should at least spread the CA's out from lvl 34 to 44, and 44 to 54, but they cant do that now because when it comes time to chose these "master II's" we wont have any skills above 14, 24, 34, 44 and 54 unless they let us chose say for example i just Ding 54, then i can chose one out of 4 CA's anywhere between 44 and 54, but this isnt the case.

Can tell you straight out, that no Berserker will ever chose Unbridled Fury unless they decide to make the AoE proc encounter only. I for one wont even be making it Adept III, its going to be a situational thing and seeing as majority of my fighting is in Dungeons now im not putting my group at risk. The only real thing i can see Unbridled Fury being used for is if we are filling in a spot on a raid and the raid is a multi encounter, or if you are doing a quest and there is a crap load of Grey mobs to clear that are PH's quest mobs, thats about it. Even then you can only agro upto 5 single mobs at once or 5 group encounters at once, unless they are deciding to remove that as well.

You know one reason why they wont make Unbridled Fury line a Encounter only AoE? Its because Rampage is getting put back on a 3 min timer, imagine the DPS would could do every 3 mins to a group encounter with both of those going, not to mention all the other encounter only AoE's we get, Stunning Roar, Berserker Assualt, Slaughter, all on instant cast timers too. Cant remeber if Wallop keeps its encounter AoE component.

Its going back to being restrictive and pressuring us into making a trivial choice that every single Berserker will follow suit in time to come instead of having a decent option to chose from making us all different upon taste, character choice or guild requirements.

If i did HAVE to chose any of these id have to go with Berserker Assualt cause im told from a few Berserkers on Test and Beta that it now hits all mobs in front of you, where as on live it only hits 2 mobs. My choice for 54 is going to be Infuriate hands down.

There increasing the rate all rares drop / harvest by a big margin after combat changes, so its really not going to be hard to upgrade almost every spell in the T5 range to Adept III. Also there installing the ability for Artisans to crafter Master III's also, so if this is the case ill hold of and wait till i can make my lvl 58 Defensive Stance Master III.

Just when it did start to look pretty decent they go and do this......

Message Edited by -Aonein- on 08-31-2005 03:59 AM

So Aoenen, Since I am closing in on 34, I WAS going to take enrage as my master2 but Hell I would like a bit more in utility. What would you choose at my lvl? I think my Enrage right now is Adpt 1.

Agro isnt going to be a problem after the changes so i dont personally think upgrading taunts will make much of a difference and like i said it will be a big difference in the amount rares are found too after the changes so adept III's will be a hell of alot more common for people who dont raid alot.

So for 24 id go Focus Rage seeing as it is a good DPS upgrade, 34 id go Reckless Stance but id have to see Unflinching Will Adept III to be honest, im pretty sure Reckless Stance Master II will be very close if not the same as Unflinching Will Adept III.

If i wanted to play a Warrior that did nothing but Taunt, attack, taunt, attack, kick, taunt, attack, taunt, attack, kick id go back to EQlive.

For those of you contemplating taking Unfliching Will Master 2 at level 44 I want to toss out some numbers for you. Since all fighter types defensive stances add the same mitigation vs physical at the same spell level (adept 1 Berserker def. stance adds the same mitigation as the adept 1 Pally def. stance) I've plowed through the forums and found some numbers. They are as follows:

T5 Stance (Unflinching Will for berserkers)

528 Mitigation at Adept 1

616 Mitigation at Adept 3

748 Mitigation at Master 2

T6 Stance (Courageous Will for berserkers)

696 Mitigation at Adept 1

986 Mitigation at Master 2 (when it was still an available choice)

Since we don't currently have a value for the Adept 3 Courageous Will we can back one out using the numbers we have:

For T5 (748-52/748 = .2941 which is the same as T6 (986-696)/986 = .2941

So since we know we're the same we can find that the value for T6 Courageous Will will be 812 mitigation. Judging by the supposed availability of rares / master spells in the upcoming patch I'd say its a pretty safe bet that by level 58.4 you level 44 training choice will be useless. Then again you get to use it all the way up to 58.4 which is pretty [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] nice, but I just wanted to give you all the info so you can have a better idea of what you're going to get later on.

Sab

They said they may change their minds. I suggest that people post their opinions in testing feedback, personally I dont like this change very much.
