<DIV>I've been away from the game for a while and it seems to have undergone a lot of changes so I'm playing some catch up.  I solo probably 90-95% of the time.  Its not that Im anti-social its just I play at odd times and in short bursts.  I chose the warrior's path last night with my fighter but now Im wondering which direction I should go at 20.  With the NDA being lifted and the known changes on the horizon I wonder given my playing style if I should look at going Berserker or Guardian.  If you old pros could chime in and give me a little guidence I would be thankful!</DIV>

<P>Here's my take on it...</P> <P>Berserkers will be more durable overall than what we are pre-update. While it looks like damage is going down, so are the mobs' hitpoints. Relative damage doesn't seem to be overly different. The combination of regen buffs and reactive damage against mobs with lower Hitpoints will produce an easier solo enviorment in my opinion. Fights might still last about the same, but you should recover quicker and have a higher survivability rate. </P> <P>This of course all depends on the players mastery of the new skills and play style so I highly suggest some "training" time until you understand at least the basics of the skills and skill combos. I myself have been scouring the boards to find as much info as possible.</P> <P>One thing i would love is for Sony to categorize our spell book seeing as we'll have to flip through pages trying to find out what stacks and what doesn't and is it still a 10 minute buff or is it now an attack, etc... </P> <P> </P>

<DIV>Post-expansion, I'd say Berserkers provide more soloability, thanks to HP regen and higher DPS (some of which requires that you are tanking).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>najena.konk</DIV>

I agree that zerkers are probably going to be at least a little better at soloing than guards, as they are know, post expansion.  It's just the fact that when you choose the Guardian subclass you're accepting the fact that you're only real strongpoint is your exceptional defense and that makes you an exceptional tank for groups..ie keeping aggro and letting the mobs beat on you while *other* classes do the actual damage to bring down the mob.  It's not to say that guards can't solo or that zerkers can't tank...we all know that's not the case either way, nor should it be.  We're both tanks but zerkers are always going to have at least slightly more dps with guardians having more defense.  What it really boils down to is that if a zerker can solo a mob then so can a guardian of equal level with the same quality equipment, it's just going to take the guard a bit longer to do I think.<div></div>

<P>But if your lazy like I am I solo with my guard more as he has such a high defense I just turn on auto attack on a green heroic mob and walk away and get a drink or do some laundry and every 3 minutes come back and repeat it. (did I mention I hate to solo becuase it is sooo boring) Granted he has all good gear but that toon takes so little damge that I worry very little about eating dirt when I walk away. Granted adds will kill you if u do this but just dont get adds.</P> <P>I imagine though after the HP regen is implemented a zerker may have this benefit as well though. </P> <P> </P> <P>But yeah as far as playing solo and killing faster I would say Zereker.</P> <P> </P>

<div></div>"I just turn on auto attack on a green heroic mob and walk away and get a drink..." Depending on the type of mob (some hit harder than others even if they con the same), zerkers have little trouble doing the exact same thing and yet we can still do it faster...most green heroics, even named ones, I can solo without casting any CAs and get damaged hardly at all so long as I'm in full defense mode.  <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Of course there's always exceptions, take for example the level 45 Sootfoot Ritualists in LS and some of the 44+ Masses in CT...those I cannot solo period, at least not right now.  How about you? <div></div><p>Message Edited by infernus006 on <span class=date_text>08-24-2005</span> <span class=time_text>08:42 AM</span>
