<DIV> <DIV>This is a legitimate suggestion aimed at SoE ( hoping they still read our forums ) so please keep mud slinging in the play ground.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I been reading ALOT of posts lately and i mean a hell of alot and i been thinking a bit.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What i been thinking is i wonder what would of become of EQ2 if they released it with 6 arch types instead of 4.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For example we could of had Fighter, Scout, Mage, Priest, Bard, Monk then break it down into how many subclass's they see fit from there.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Reason i been thinking this is because even after the combat revamp alot of things just dont sit well and seem out of place for example we all know that the Fighter line is based around Tanking. We have 80% of the Fighter line in Heavy armor, the other 20% is in light. Now im not sinlging any class out here but just using it as a example. We all know how much Monks / Bruisers like to tank or DPS, so for example if there was a Monk arch type, it would be alot easier for them to chose a path of ethier a offensive style or defensive style, lets say for example the defensive style of Monk could also wear Chain, while the offensive type could wear Light.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Rangers who would come from the Scout line would be able to keep there kiting ability while Assassins would deal a great deal of melee damage due to there stealthy attributes.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Mages could of been a Mezzer / Charmer / DPS or a bit of both depending on what they wanted to do, or they could go all out Mezzer and sacrafice there DPS to be kings of mezzing, same if a mage wanted to be a king of charming or a king of DPS.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Reason i been thinking this is because stuffing 24 class's into 4 arch types then having those arch types do the same job across the board but with a different look makes it feel too constrictive, like we are all shoulder to shoulder all competeing with each other over who is better when no one is truely better, everyone is equal but we all look different but have the same feel.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Other reason i been thinking about it because Armor provides nothing except stats, we go for the best armor we can get with the best stats. There is no path or choice to make in reguards of what type of armor to wear. Mages wear robes because they have too, they get no other choice what so ever, Priests can wear Robe, Light, Chain or Heavy depending on class, Scouts wear only chain they also get no other choice and Fighters can wear anything from Robe, Light, Chain or Heavy depending on class again.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This is all fine, but there is no meaning to it, no purpose, its just done because we have too, now if for example a Mage had a choice between Light and Robe, where one full set of Light increased there total power pool, or Robe increased there ingame power regen, something like that, or Priests for example, Chain might increase there healing power while Heavy increased there total power pool.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Fighters at the current moment get a decrease to Avoidance if they wear Heavy and a increase to Avoidance if they wear Light, this is fine and makes sense, but what about for example for Berserkers who dont want to be a pure Tank? Lets say for example Chain, a full Chain set might add a 5% DPS inscreaement, added avoidance cause its not heavy and it gives those people who want to play a more offensive style of game play a choice if they dont want to be a pure Tank but it also gives the people who wish to remain as a pure Tank.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Scouts for example have trouble doing good strong DPS on a constant basis because of the amount of CA's and skills they need to use to do it which the result is OOP ( out of power ) after one fight, well for a Scout they could increase the amount of power regen in and out of combat by 5% on a full set of Chain or if they chose to go Light for extra 3% extra DPS and 5% extra total power pool.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Paladins for wearing a full set of heavy could get something like and extra 5% DPS to magic based spells, 2% increased healing power. Shadow Knights could of got something along the lines of 10% increased Life Tap or 20% extra chance to fear a mob etc etc, you guys get my drift and it doesnt have to stop at just one ability per armor set, as the better your armor sets get the more added bonus you get per set.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When i say in the sense of having a full set of Chain, i mean every peice Chain, or Light etc etc to get a extra bonus for having it all chain and not some Robe + Light + Chain + Heavy like i see alot of Priests doing just for the stats, which is fine, but again, this is what all the priests have on there wish list because its the "best" so they all want it, same with Berserkers recently running polls on whats the best armor set to have, or best 1 hand / 2 hand weps to get, its the end all be all attitude which i hate to see in a game because there is no choice or vareity.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Point is, give it a purpose, give it a meaning, give it a reason to be done, give people a choice, give them a vareity so we dont all end up the same in every little way searching for the same items or the same armor because thats what makes us complete, i for one dont wish to be complete, i wish to be always searching for that next "thing", giving me a reason, a purpose and a choice.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Having 6 arch type class's to chose from instead of 4 which branched out into 24 sub class's probally could of been a much much cleaner system because it would of given the player base more freedom and vareity to chose what they wanted to be with out being constricted to playing a certain way due to said class falling under a certain arch type, for example if there was 6 arch types that allows 4 sub class's per arch type giving people 6 directions to chose from and 4 paths to take per arch type giving people a much boarder variety and making it alot more fun then so many people doing the same job but looking different across the board.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It would also give people alot more group utility on a formation basis instead of having the old school get together of Tank, DPS, Healer, Utility ( buffer ). </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just some thoughts and suggestions.</DIV></DIV><p>Message Edited by -Aonein- on <span class=date_text>08-18-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:00 PM</span>

<P>wanna up you for this post cause i like the idea of adding more choice to the classes.. cause fighter for us is a little too generic. Like it and i think they should look into it. cause right now everyother arch types out there are kept in the same line. as for a example.. scout all dps well depends if you consider the bard dps "i do" um mage all the classes use magic no like "half magic users.. like a fighter/mage class" and priest all healing somewhere along the line of priest you can heal debuff or smite!.. but fighters like you said are different.. each ;subclass is messed man.. i mean monks dont need a taunt lol.  <BR><BR>mistake.. pallys are fighter/healer shadows are mage/fighter soo yea right now it's SHABBEY!<BR></P> <P>ohh and for one more thought might want to add in more Status spells like bought off trainers but costs status to buy.. maybe a extra medium damage attack?  buff? but for each arch types..<BR><BR>PS: you have seen me in the chatroom before.</P> <P>Edit addin.. been looking at alot of trash going around the forum.. ALOT and i think.. that it's stupid HA Peace!</P> <P>and sorry if there is any spelling mistakes cause i chat at night alot and im feeling like im stoned... mostly</P> <P>Message Edited by Hierax on <SPAN class=date_text>08-18-2005</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>03:09 AM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by Hierax on <span class=date_text>08-18-2005</span> <span class=time_text>03:10 AM</span>

<DIV>I like thinkynessality; this is a post worth a read even if you disagree at least hes thinking. Anything that allows me to choose what fashion of character I want to play rather than being told what I will play always gets my support. </DIV>

<P>How would u look for a grp of ppl is my only question. Seems like you would take away every guidline and then trying ot find players would be a headache.</P> <P> For example you would have to ask..hey are u a tank or dps zerker. Do u mez or do u dps MR mage. At least now I may not be able to find the class Im looking for to top my grp off but that is ok with me. COnsidering trying to find someone for a grp would have some lengthy conversation about the armor they wear or the style of fighter they are considering the amount of options you are talking about.</P> <P>There would be nothing worse than getting someone in your grp you ordered up as dps and find out they are some kinda of utility mezzer. </P> <P>I like the idea of options and variety but aside from berzerkers everyone knew what they were getting into when they choose their character imo.</P> <P>More equipment would be nice to avoid the cookie cutter look and feel of all the players to add a bit of an edge here or there in a stat or two but alowing everyoine to be whatever they want when ever they want just by switching armor here and there sounds to be a bit of a stretch to me.</P> <P>But like the previous poster said...even if you dont agree with the idea at least there are ppl putting something creative out there for the Dev to think about.</P>

<DIV>I like this post guys, very nice. I think it's the first one I've seen that actually had some suggestions instead of just a bunch of flaming. This is what SOE needs in the forums to make our game better. Thanks!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I think this is a great idea... or at least an idea heading in the right direction. I was talking to one of my friends that plays WoW and he talked about how the classes and archtypes are really well defined and there is a lot of variety to them. Makes me almost wish I'd played WoW instead. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The real drive and addicting force of EQ2 is knowing that there is something else out there that will make you the coolest toon ever... but once I hit 50 and started looking around I realized that every zerker was just like me; and we all had the same role in every raid. We all wore the same armor, and swung the same weapons... Heck... if we all /showhooded we'd look like a big half rack of oddly-sized black cans. The only thing that makes me different from every other 50 zerker is that I'm short and bald... that's about it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Even the fabled loot is getting almost all too common. Every class has those certain fabeled items geared directly at their archtype, so all the lucky mages are running around with the robe of the invoker. Every  lvl 38 priest has a mismatched suit of Nightblood armor, etc, etc. (Yes I know that Nightblood armor isn't fabled)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Why not mix it up a bit so that you can actually inject a personality into your toon? This might be something to think about SOE.</DIV>
