View Full Version : T5 weapon choices?
I'm a 45 berserker now, and facing some questions. I do a lot of soloing, but do like to raid, and sometimes do parties (more for quests than exp). Now, I keep several weapons on me at all times. I have my SSoY, SBD, PGT, and a cedar cudgel, which I swap out to meet a mobs resists. Most of the time, for damage, I use my SSoY and SBD. But, I feel that all my haste is being wasted with the already low delays. So, I was trying to decide what I should do. I've noticed that the two popular choices seem to be EBBC and Monsoon. On my server, Monsoon would be cheaper, and less work. Assuming I could only get one (which is false, I can get both, but, am trying to hit 50 before the expantion, so I want to use as little time as I can), which would be the better choice, as a weapon for when I'm not tanking, or am soloing, and can last me until well into the expantion. Or, is there a hidden option I'm missing? <div></div>
I went with an Imbued Cedar Great Staff, 49 damage rating, really slow, nice proc, good stats, and it only cost me 30gp for a cedar and about 10 or 15gp more to get it made. <div></div>

I use monsoon as my primary dps weapon. I prefer it over the ebbc which I also have but never use (got it hanging on my wall in my room). It may not have quite the damage rating that some other t5 2h's have but the 23 str and 10% haste on it makes it worth it imo. <div></div>

When back up tank or soloing(sometimes depending on the mob) I use a pair of ceder fighting batons, PGT, SSoY I mix and match depending on the mob. When MT or soloing(sometimes depending on the mob) Rallosian Steel because I can't find a 1h with better stat adds within my budget until I can get Blood Fire. I'm trying for a royal great flail tonight, but if I don't win the roll I won't be heartbroken. I think I am one of two people rolling on it so 50/50 chance. I have never used a 2h weapon much. I am trying to get to 50 before the expansion as well, and I am burning out from all the level grinding. Started around May 1 and am level 47 now. (And have not used a two hander to date) <div></div>
For raiding, definately take the EBBC over that Monsoon. Treasured weapons don't do much damage against the end game raid mobs, legendary or fabled is what you want if you actually want to do some damage. <div></div>

It is strange that the Monsoon hits epic mobs even though it is Treasured, every other treasured weapon I have tried does not hit epic mobs.

I use this: <A href="http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/item.vm?itemId=67633" target=_blank>http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/item.vm?itemId=67633</A>. Got it from Return to Nek Castle. I think it compares quite nicely with the prismatic 2h.

Um not to me it doesn't. Not a terrible 2h, but I would still take Monsoon over that. And it's nothing compared to the prismatic 2h. <div></div>

The proc is always on the sword and gives you 20% haste.
get cedar weapons, with cedar it's "usually" one of the cheapest rares and you can make 2 types of weapons you can make 2h blunts and pierce either the 2h greatstaff or bo staff and a cedar pike for pierce oh yea they are both ugly as heck and pretty disgusting to look at, but why waste an ebon? when cedar's are so cheap, count as legendary and can hit anything. also if you go duel wield get fightingbatons/quarterstaffs/cudgels, thats listed from fastest to slowest too if you were interested. cedar's cheap and ugly if you go 1h, you can have a wand, i have no idea why!, but you should get a 1h club, it's REALLY ugly , it looks like a newbie refugee island club, but it packs a punch. cedar's cheap, with cedar you can have all your blunt raid requirements, have pierce requirements (really when are you gonna get 1h pierce, and almost everyone's got a sbd...) so save that ebon for slashing weapons or armor. i never use a shield unless epic tanking, but don't forget the really cheap tower shield if you don't have time to do SBS and the nice stats on cedar bows too. again cedar is cheap use that to your advantage, usally it's nice and cheap heh. for my 2h setup i'm good with a rgf, ebon made axe and the really ugly cedar pike (it looks like a stupid fishing pole) if you replace the rgf with a cedar bostaff or greatstaff you have a lot of offtanking 2h weapons. <div></div>
