I need to find a way to up my damage some. When hunting I'm tanking about 50% of the time and feel that maybe I was in the wrong going down the 2-hander path. Granted I'm only level 24, but when doing quests I group with two other guilde members, one being a Guardian and the other being a Mystic. And since I love my zerker I don't want to reroll to a more DPS type class. Using this right now... http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/item.vm?itemId=66782 But in general, what would you get the most damage out of, a solid 2-hander or duel wield? Money isn't a huge issue, this zerker is a reroll from my 36 Monk so if I need some money I can always hop on the Monk for a few nights and get some loot and sell that. Any insight will be greatly apprieated.

It really depends on the quality of weapons you have but personally I never use dual weild with my zerker. I know several other zerkers who do and seem to prefer it over 2h but I feel like I get more dps with my 2h than with any of the dual weild weapons I have tried so far. I feel that with all our haste buffs using a 2h with a good damage rating and/or proc is more worth it if you're going dps. When tanking, of course, I almost always switch to 1h and shield combo. Btw, I'm level 50 and here's the 2h that I currently use: http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/item.vm?itemId=54009

Message Edited by infernus006 on 08-15-2005 12:45 PM

When tanking I use a one hander and a sheild. When DPS I use dual weild. I rarely use a 2 hander.

Well, I'm looking for something under all situations. I also duo with the said Mystic so in a lot of situations I do need to be the one causing some damage.

I duo most of the time with my husband the Inquisitor and I use dual weild, or if the mob is really bad I use a sheild.

Dual wield or 2hand depends on what weapons you have. My Zerker is level 46. In solo mode she uses Polished Granite Tomahawk & Runded Leather Whip. Yes, the PGT is green con and does less DPS then a white / yellow / orange. But the +power / ward proc now and then is a great help. In groups she uses usualy a fabled pike (pike of precision or so) or 1h & shield (only on tough mobs or the healer runs low power). If she has always lower power then the other group mates she switches to PGT / whip.

I use a One Handed Trident. They are the best 1 handers in the game, and even give some 2 handers a run for their money. It can do anywhere from 24 damage to 88 damage. Not bad for a 1 hander. Then i would use a spear for 2 hander, and i also dual weild with short swords sometimes tha have a very short delay on them.

1 hander, 2 hander or dual weild makes no diff, as they all can perform the same. Different stats is all i look for, damage is not something that is so different that it makes one weapon greater then another.

Most times 2 items have greater stats then one 2 hander item, so the fact you can pair a shield and one hander, or two dual weilds seems better state-wise for me. 2 handers lack in stats in most cases. Except the rare legendary ones.

Message Edited by Espyderman on 08-16-2005 11:06 AM

fabled two handers do more dps than any dual fabled...... Plus they proc like a madman with the long recast times. There are a possibility to get two very rare duals that I cant remember the name of and possibly get more dps but I cant find any zerker with dual fabled to compare too but as is right now I use two handers and out dps any dual weild zerker.

I do not have any fabled weapons to compare. Just heritage quest rewards (Short Sword of the Ykesha, Serrated Bone Dirk, Electrified Bone Bladed Claymore). Dual wielding the SSoY/SBD combo gives comparable attack stats as the EBBC. My attack is rated 860 while DW, and 861 while using the 2H. My avoidance is slightly higher while using DW due to the weapon stats. I seem to do a lot more autoattack damage dual wielding than with the 2H. I also get hit a lot more while using DW. It's very situational. Things I have noticed while using a 2H: * more combat art friendly (but more power drain if you spam CA's). * better chance of you to parry/riposte. Things I have noticed while DW: * low delay weapons are not as friendly with combat arts (with the low casting time after the revamp, this might change). * autoattack seems to do more overall damage. the SSoY/SBD hit 3 times for every1 time the EBBC would (not counting haste, and they add up to about the same damage). if one attack misses, the other 2 still have a chance. while using the EBBC, one miss means no damage for another 2.5 seconds (remember, autoattack only, not counting haste). if i'm not mistaken, this also means the mob has more chances to riposte. If I'm doing solo writ mobs (usually grey/green/blue), I'll DW to conserve power. If I tank without a shield, I'll use the 2H. If I'm trying to fill a DPS role, it doesn't matter as I'm hitting the mob in the back and do not seem to miss a hit. If I'm in a group to tank, then I'm more concerned about holding aggro rather than damage. Let the DPS classes have at it.

my only issue with dual vs 2H is that with duals I get Riposted more often. I tend to favor the 2H when I am solo'n. If I'm MT I tend to favor 1-H & shields and I'f I'm not MT in group I favor the Duals because....well...its cool lookin
