Prismatic Choice

I am up in the air as to what prismatic I will eventually choose.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am pretty much the only zerker in our normal raid group and I am used in a DPS role atm. I mostly play in the MT group rolling HO's for MT and buffs (until they fix stacking). My current weapons are Pike of Precision for 2h, Imbued Ebon Assault Axe for 1hs, imbued cedar batonscudgels for DW, wyrmsteel shortblades for DW on dragon raids, Heiro Crook for 2hb, assorted DW heritage stuff.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am thinking after the combat revamp where they desire us to be less dps, more tank, a nice 1hs with a shield would be my best bet. Or should I go with my original thought and take the 2h? The DW is sort of out for me as I dont favor low delay dualies. I just dont know what my role will be in a raid scheme after the patch and I hate to blow my choice on something I will never use. Once I hit 50, pretty much the only time I ever picked up a shield is in small groups to get a quest/heritage done. I cant see myself tanking much even after the revamp, unless I am sadly mistaken about how this will all fall out. All I forsee is MUCH less dps, slightly increased tanking, but still well behind guards enough to not be viable MT on raids. In which case duoing some nameds/epics for drops is all I would ever tank for.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Does this seem offbase or should I warm up to the fact I will use a shield someday?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any advice would help.</DIV></DIV>

I went 2H and regret it. It is hard to find ANY 1Her near the stats and damage of the prismatic 1Her. However 2H that is not the case, the flail is as good or better IMO. Go 1H, and eventually get a Flail for 2H. <div></div>

<P>I would also like to know what i should get? Right now I am trying to get good weapons of every type for those mobs that resists certain types. think i will have to disagree on the rgf as best two handed crush for zerker its second best the acf is alot better for us sure it doesn't have the damage proc but the healing proc is great and has a higher damage rating then the rgf

ACF has like  59.3 DR or so? I can see you havent realized that it maxes out at lvl53, which means the DR is only correct when you reach lvl53, example: my best weapon atm is drayek's axe, our guild has got many RGF's, but with my luck i'll never get one of those, anyways, we got Cruel Executioner from spirits of the lost instance, it has same delay and looks and my axe, but diff stats, with proc and 59.3 DR, but it maxes out at lvl53. So i took a look on the dmg, and realized that those 2 axes had exactly DR, same delay So a weapon with 59.3 DR maxing out at lvl53 is same DRg at lvl50 the 55.1 dmg rating weapons have, maxing at lvl50 <div></div>

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the damage rating on a weapon reflects what *your* current damage rating is, not what the max is. At least it did this while I was leveling up. I'd get a weapon that conned orange, and as I leveled I would notice the damage rating going up, until I mastered it. That said, the combat revamp is going to do away with all that. WYSIWYG. No more scaling with level. <div></div>

<P>I chose the DW prismatic swiftblade to go with a rubicite stiletto. Have 2 x cedar imbued batons for crushing, and imbued ebon shortblade and leafblade for dual wield line up for full slash or pierce. SM for 1h crush with shield, Plasmatic maul 2h, Pike of precision 2h piercing. Not so bothered about 1h weapons for shield as I tank groups DW usually, potioned up and in a good group mobs are dead before you are, and then on raids I'm support at the moment. Oddly haven't seen too many fabled 1 handers dropping but at some point I'll prolly snag one or if not either an inbued ebon something or just the Bloodfire. </P> <P>I like my Swiftblade of the scale though, does the job for me.</P>

No more scaling with level.<BR> <BR> <HR> </BLOCKQUOTE>OK, you're wrong.  Damage ratings are for the level the weapon maxes at, not the current level you're at.  This point is easier to illustrate in the lower levels.  Get a level 10-20 character and buy a weapon that cons white and one that cons orange that have the same delay and the same damage listed, the one that cons orange will have a higher damage rating than the one that cons white.<BR> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Speaking to the question of the original post, take the 1 HS.  There are lots of good two-handed slash weapons out there that can substitute for the 2 HS (Greataxe of Dread, Odulsian Tulwar, etc.) but there aren't any Good 1HS with stamina that I can think of, and if there are could someone please list it for me.  </DIV><p>Message Edited by Sabin the Great on <span class=date_text>08-09-2005</span> <span class=time_text>11:41 AM</span>

I too will be choosing the Prismatic Long sword.  After missing out on a Soul Harvestor 1hs drop from Darathar, i will be getting this prismatic. The shield i am using is the Pristine imbued Cedar Tower shield.  I havent seen many other shields that are better.  I havent seen any fabled tower shields except on our guilds Raid tank. 1) !hs Prismatic 2) Cedar Tower shield. With these changes I will be going very tank friendly.  So I've purchased new tanking gear with anticipation. A guildie actually chose the 2handed greatsword pris.. he regrets it.  goodluck <div></div>

I think it comes down to what your philosophy of playing a berserker is, and what role you're most going to play.  If you want to be the main tank on raid mobs most of the time choose the prismatic longsword...but keep in mind that most likely that position will be filled by a guardian.  I like playing a berserker as all out aggro all out dps, there's not much point or opportunity for me to mt because of guardians, plus I'm a "berserk"er, look up the definition, there's nothing about that word that conveys defense.  So my role I think is that when the guardian loses aggro to the ranger/assassin/warlock, which they do, my role is to snag that aggro asap, then let the guardian get the aggro back from me.  Most of the time I'm dpsing and waiting for the mt to lose aggro, and for that the best choice is the best weapon, which I think is the 2h prismatic.  <div></div>

I haven't even started the dragon lang quest yet and I already know I'm getting the greatsword for my prismatic despite the fact that I do a lot of tanking.  Currently I use Blood Fire as my 1h with SBS when tanking tougher mobs that require the added defense of a sheild and I'm happy with that until I see some new stuff in the expansion.  I just really want that big sword azz sword lol. <div></div>

Between RGF, Pike of Precision and Greatsword I have all raid weapons covered in my baggy now. The rare times I tank raids, I use an ebon 1 hander and it works fine.</P> <P> </P> <P>Thanks for the input everyone.</P>
