View Full Version : What race did you choose for your Zerker (RP perspective)

I am thinking of re-roling a zerker or a Bruiser, and I am heavy into the Role Play bit (makes my character much more intresting IMO), so what race did you guys choose and why ? I will have to choose the Evil side (Love to RP freeport =) ), and I'm torn between a lithe ebil monk or a hulking zerker (if theres a reason to choose a small frame zerker lemme know that too!)

My main is a 23 Necro DE, because I have a warhammer fetish and Love the Undead Charcter Nagash! But, I have the need to play other classes, and would love to role play a hulking evil warrior, or perhaps a ebil monk type, just not sure what race and why. Utility is of little to no importance to me, so fire away!

I play and roleplay a dark elf berserker. I knew I wanted to play a dark elf even before I got the game :smileyhappy: This is simply the race I like the most. I love my character and the class berserker, the roleplay (on lucan dlere server) is also very good. The race dark elf is a good match for berserker in a roleplay point of view, since this is an evil race, fueled by hate and anger. Also, I believe a berserker can be more complex than: Me angry, me kill you.

Barbarian all the way baby!!!

The word "berserker" reminds me (and I think, most people) of the huge, orangey-haired, half-dressed crazy Nordic warriors, and, well, the only race that allows you to create a toon that really has those features is the Barbarian. Give him a long, orange, plaited goatee, a bald head with just a long pony tail, heaps of piercings and a tatoo across the face... baby nothing says Berserker more to me than that.

Plus Barbarian's are just so buff, without being fat like an ogre (incoming flames :smileyvery-happy: )... yes yes I know, ogres aren't fat, they're just big-[Removed for Content]. And trolls, well, they're just dayamn ugly (and a bit too lanky).

Oh, and when you want to disrobe to impress the chicks (LOL) , you actually look good doing that as a Barb.

The +5 Defense trait is nice, too.

Message Edited by Adrenachrome on 07-28-2005 02:39 PM

A betrayed halfling or gnome. Nothing's more of a rush than going absolutely naners in combat when your 3 feet tall and have a jum jum fetish. Personally, Qeynos tossed me out on my bum after I broke a chair over a smug barbarians cranium. While I was rather pleased with myself in having lodged a few splinters into the brain matter of a drunken oaf, I still didn't have a place to sleep. After a night of attempting to sleep off my hangover in a cave, I decided to try reasoning with a Freeport guard, hoping a "win-win" situation could be met. After hitting him several times in the jimmies with a rock, I was given a room key to a lovely suite in beautiful Big Bend, home of Trolls and Ogres. Personally, I couldn't be happier. I treat my fellow Freeportians with the utmost respect, and the two dozen severed hands nailed to my door assures that they feel the same way. :smileyhappy: Anywho, I'm sure you could develop something fun like this using a gnome if you prefer, and I must say roleplaying a character such as this is a blast. Sincerely, Boddywock Flusterfuzz, Kicker of Shins

I made my berserker a high elf female because it seems you can't swing a cat without hitting a barbarian or human zerker. She does just fine in a tank role although I prefer to offtank and go nuts on damage. There is really no bad race from a RP standpoint. If you're a min/max type player of course you can squeeze a few more HP or strength in by your choice of race, but I'd rather be unique (or at least interesting) than oober.

http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/pplayer.vm;jsessionid=F2F2F1D8545C474FFC8089D535AA DCE0.sdt-foyert15-27009?characterId=316348206

Personally I chose Iksar for my berserker for two reasons. The first is that I used to play muds long before EQ came out and had a lizard-man warrior type on my favorite one. The second is because on my server (Mistmoore) there are a grand total of 3 other Iksar berserkers that I've come across. Anyway just my two cents.

I have a level 50 troll zerker and have no desire to play anything else in the game at this point. To me trolls are the scariest looking of all the races in the game and their initial stats (high sta and str and decent agi) make them the best race for tanking IMO (which is a good thing since that is about the only thing they can ever really be good at). As a troll zerker I have found myself tanking more than anything else when grouped so I'm happy with the choices I made for my race and class because not only do I find that I can do my job well but also fit the image of the zerker class pretty well also (big and mean and scary, nuff said). I'm also betrayed so I get a lot of interesting comments from people in and around Qeynos (both real and npc) and I have a lot of fun with it.

Message Edited by infernus006 on 08-15-2005 12:24 PM

I actually started creating a Wood Elf and ended up at berserker. It all started with the Fire shroud. I then found a name that meant Born of Fire (from one of the asian languages) that I liked. It was a very short step from there to berserker.

I went Half-Elf female. It makes me feel happy when the groups tank is a little girl, and taking hits better than a big Ogre/Troll. And, yeah, as was said, you can't swing a cat in Qeynos without hitting a Barbarian or Human (though, I hear they get a nice defense racial trait). Sure, I might be a bit wanting in Str and Sta, but, my Agi/Avd is higher than most plate tanks, and, noone has every called me a bad tank. Skill and gear make more differance than race. Just, make sure, whatever race you pick, you take pride in your choice, and strive to honr the Berserker name (too many don't...)

I just recently rolled up a Troll Zerker, he is great. For me I thought about what I a beserker was to me. I considered Barbarian, but thought that was too common for me. Human I liked but I have another idea for a human. Ogres, it just isn't me. Same for most of the other races, then I thought Troll, big, strong, good stamia, and not to bright and full of anger and hate. Sounds like a perfect bezerker to me. He is a good break from my 48 necro. I am even considering working him harder to help out with tanking to the higher end people in my guild. I think any race can be a beserker or any class for that matter. and I really appauld those who took the path less traveled. I would love to see the tiny female halfing knocking the crap out of a giant. I think I would laugh so hard milk would come out of my nose and I don't drink milk. Some of the names were fablous too. I think you need to be proud of what you choose and stick with it or hit delete and start over.

Crushemskulls Neckwringer 25 Zerker come to kill you soon

Well AGI is great but as a Zerker that's not the main attribuite you want to focus on IMO. Zerkers are fighters so our main attribute is STR (and it's still going to be that way for the most part after the revamp I think) and Rats don't start out with very much of that. AGI does more for scouts than fighters, it gives you more power and DPS, whereas STR is what does that for us. Don't get me wrong, AGI is good, but you don't wanna be a Zerker with a ton of AGI and no STR, trust me. You'll have lots of avoidance and accuracy but no power or DPS. That would suck IMO. Once you get into the higher leves and get nicer gear with more STR on it then it won't be such a big deal but in the lower levels it's going to hurt you I think. But if you neglect your STR altogether and just pile on the AGI then you're really gonna to be screwed I think, even after the revamp. I personally don't recommend making a Rat Zerker unless you just wanna do something different to have fun with because technically they are not one of the best of races to choose for any fighter class. I'm not sure what kind of racial traits they get to pick from either, that's another thing you have to consider. GL with your Rat Zerker if you decide to make it.

Message Edited by infernus006 on 08-26-2005 09:08 AM

Seems the popular choices for Zerkers are Ogres and Trolls. I made a Kerran because I havent seen this race in any other game, seems uniques to EQ. Race specs are being removed so it wont matter that you are human or ogre. From an rp perspective i guess you need to find something that really pisses you off, be it something from lore i.e. erudites bringing plague and disease to Odus, or Luclin being destroyed. For me it was something that happened with a former guild in game. I like the Kerran because he has rings all over his face, very savage looking. As far as agility goes, im a bit disgruntled that were getting an agi buff. It just doesnt follow logic, as a zerker i wanna get pounded on, thus causing me to fly off the handle into a berserk state, increasing dps, holding aggro, and most recently having the chance to proc an ability like VoM. Like most everything else theres a golden mean to stats, ive focused on Sta,Str then Agi ; theyre all necessary.

As of LU#13, the old class training abilities (formerly received at 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th, etc) are gone, and now we get Master II choices of existing skills at 14th, 24th, 34th, etc.

Race traits are still in from what I've read on the dev posts and patch notes. If I'm wrong, post a link, please. Thanks.
