I am currently trying out a ten day trial that SOE sent me a few days ago, and with it I had hope for this game. Unfortunetly I saw the up comming "adjustments" and im disappointed to say the least. More and more they are making all of the tank classes the same and not the least bit different. When I had originally started playing EQ2 I liked how zerkers were the ultimate offensive tank while guards were the ultimate meat shield, along with the differences between pallys/shadowknights monks/bruisers. Comming from WoW im enjoying how warriors have the melee dps they should have for being a class in which uses melee weapons and are the "masters of melee combat". Im sure this comparison has been made sometime in the past but I feel that EQ2 is a great game but its slowly killing itself by changes such as these.

I think you're confusing "masters of melee combat" with donig the most melee damage. Since release, scouts were intended to do the most melee damage. That being said, try to solo something with a scout, then with a fighter, and you'll see that fighters may not always do as much damage as scouts, but they are indead much better at melee combat. It seems to me that what makes them the masters of melee combat is the fighters ability to stay alive while still doing good damage. And I'm not sure I agree that all the fighters are becoming the same. IMO, there has never been that much difference between zerkers and guardians. Yes, zerkers do more damage than guards. And yes, Guards tank a bit better. But there stil wasn't that much difference. But I think there are good differences between the warrior subclasses and the brawler and crusader subclasses. I don't see that changing in the new combat re-vamp.

I do think this combat revamp is necesarry. There are some things that are broken, and not working very balanced. I think all fighters should not worry too much about this revamp. Sure, some might get a little nerf, some might get a little boost. But in the end we will all be able to still tank, and isn't that what we started playing fighers to do?

Please note, this is only my opinion and I could be very wrong about the upcoming changes and we could all get smacked upside the head with the nerf stick. :smileywink:

Message Edited by Stormbilly on 07-18-2005 05:17 AM

I think it's a good thing for classes to comment on proposed changes so the devs can see what people think, but falsely spreading the word that berserkers are ruined (even though the changes aren't even in yet) is a bit too much.

/agreed that it is a bit much, but I dont want to be left with my pants down come raid time when the revamps happen. Any how other than writs and the occasional raid what else is a lvl 50 Zerker suppose to do. I dont think that Zerkers will be ruined but I do believe that things will be quite a bit different than how things are now, and the class may become something that I didnt originally sign up for on day of relase.

It's just the alarmist stance that many people take that disturb me. Especially considering if newer players come to the boards, they may not know what is fact, and what is alarmist propoganda, so they make decisions based on faulty data.

All classes will probably change over time... Sad, but that's how pretty much every MMO game is. Hopefully, all that will happen will be a bit of a learning curve to handle the adjustments.

Well, I would say most of us have the alarmist attitude, because we know what happens when devs get bit by the nerf bug. Some of us may be newbies to EQ2, but we aren't newbies to the genre or SOE. Lowering damage is stupid. They need to be enhancing the capabilities of the scouts. Not nerfing beserkers, so scouts look stronger.
