Hi all: I read the sticky above, but I have what I'm sure are some questions you've all heard before but I'm hoping you can answer for me.: 1.) Is there a general consensus about whether to dual wield or use a shield? 2.) Is it worth it to get a bow/arrows and develop that skill? 3.) Should one rotate a variety of weapons to keep skills up? 4.) When choosing specialized skills (Levels 10, 20, 30...) are there any that are considered must haves? At level 10 I chose the Adept 2 kick because I assumed that interrupting casting could come in very handy. 5.) How does one go beserk and what are the effects of being in a beserk state? Maybe we can start a Beserker FAQ sticky? Thanks!!

Message Edited by ExtremeFajita on 07-06-2005 06:31 AM

Shield or 2 hander is a better idea.

2.) There is no longer any defensive penalty. (Even when there was it was very small).

Fast weapons are not a good idea for a berserker. We are the most hasted class and you will hit a weapon speed cap too easily, wasting haste. If DW use 1.8s at the very least, higher if u can find, or use a 2 hander. Use shield of course if you are tanking and really taking a beating

Its easy enough to have one type of one hander, another type of two hander and maybe a duel wield of the 3rd kind. When you ding, switch weapons around and max out all the skills. It won't take long and could help you down the road.

Otherwise, when you get a Piercing weapon like the Serated Bone Dirk you might find that your piercing skill is 40/225.... :smileysurprised:

On the raising weapon skill, I used pierce for maybe a level or two at 20 something, then never used it again till 50, took me two hours total to go from 100 to 250 skill spanking everything I could find in Thundering Steps (all grey at 50 of course, don't use arts as things just die too fast), thus it is a non issue (takes that long to get a group now a days). My bow skill raised at my level from just pulling, weapon speed info is spot on, get the slowest thing you can find at higher levels, I don't even carry dual weild, havent since my late 30's as with most MMO's tanks and 2 hander DPS is astonishing, weapons with procs are very nice, but far from manditory. What is just as important is armour, mitigation is king, makes a big differnece on tough mobs, at lower levels the armour quest stuff is very good, then it's have a look at what other tanks are wearing and you'll get a good indication of what's out there and dropping.

1.) Is there a general consensus about whether to dual wield or use a shield?

I love Dual Wielding especially solo. get some imbued weapons, get zerky and create carnage. Also having a Slash and a Crush equipped keeps yopur stats up. Heck I even play around with a pierce in my off-hand at times. When tanking a sheild can help but if you have imbued Armor and a good healer I still say DW for the sheer DPS. Kinda taks some experimenting to see how much your getting wacked. Heck I carry a whole aresenal of weaps in my bag-o-tricks.

L50 Berserker Here:

Maxed skills are ranged, crush, pierce, slash. I have a 10 slot bag I carry on me at all times with shields and weapons of all types. I am always ready for any fight at any time. I duel wield, I two hand, I onehand with a shield when needed and my pristine imbued cedar bow in always on. I use the short bow for better stats and iron arrows. I do use Fulginate arrows on occasion for more damage. Just remember the damage rating of your bow is a very large portion of the damage you get when you use ranged. Arrow types help, but arrows have no damage rating.

Berserkers are warriors and as such should max out every damage skill they have.

Well, i guess we should all throw out our PGT's since they are useless DW's.:smileytongue:

I use a the PGT and a crushing and slashing as the other DW to keep up my stats..though i dont play at the moment.
