The new adventure pack seems to promise some interesting possibilities for bored solo level 50 players. Reading the Splitpaw threads it seems different classes face unique challenges inthese solo instances. I started this thread to talk about urviving and winning these fights with tactics as a solo berserker.

Declan McManus

50 Halfling Berserker

Drinkers of Ale

Befallen

Only problem ive had really so far is The Very Hard ver. of the Solo Arena..... i cant get him down past 30% because he DoT's me to death lol

I tried difficult and very difficult today, i had 40% hp left after pit master on normal difficulty lvl, about 30% on difficult, and pit champ had less than 10% after killing me on hardest, which annoyed me a bit, i could have maybe taken him with if i had used bit more strategy there, or with some more luck

Is there any trick to beating the last guy in the Solo Arena? Nothing in there seems to be able to get me below 80% Health, but the last guy kills me every time.

I took Balok's Stifling Cry as my level 40 training choice, and I don't have much problem - the champion died with 80% power remaining, hardly ever getting a spell off.

I could take very difficult version Pit Champ easily. ;0 I still had 85% of health when I killed it. I was full buffed (4 Health buffs, Tides of War, Warchant, Anarchy, Darkmoore, Def buff, Focus rage, Unbridled Fury) and used 1H Weapon and shield. ( defensive mode)

Stun Blow then Frenzy from behind, Stun Cry then Berserker Assault from behind. I do this always.

But spider in very difficult group arena killed me with Devastation. I needed a healer for duo it ( maybe a paladin is also fine).

Level 30 Berserker here, could not kill Phosm, died on several attempts. Though my level 30 Fury was able to. Maybe our DPS is screwed up or something? My Fury is under-geared and technically should had not won, but it was a test to see if I could or not.

Holy moly!! Your gear is incredible! No wonder you can solo the Champ on very hard! Tried it a few times this past week. I was lvl 48 when I tried all 3 times, and I have ok gear only adept at the time was Anarchy Adept 3. Best armor piece is imbued ebon legs. Try 1 : Pristine Imbued Cedar 2h weapon (don't remember it's name, Great staff I think) Got the champ down to about 15%, I had over 40%. Then he started healing, my interrupts and stuns started missing and he healed back up to 55% I think. Then I ran out of power and died, he had about 15% left I think, maybe 20%. Try 2 : Imbued Teak 1h weapon and Shiny brass shield. He destroyed me, I misclicked a couple of times trying to use a defense token, and he probably had 50% left when I died. Try 3: Serrated Bone Dirk and Short Sword of Ykesha. Didn't make it to the champ. The first two times I killed Phosm Stonebend easily, so I wasn't really paying attention very well. Before I noticed it, I had 70%, he had 85%. Started trying harder and I died when he had 5% left . I dinged 49 yesterday, and I'm gonna try again tonight. I think with the 2h, and using a couple potions, and maybe the defense tokens, I should be able to take the champ out.

Ok, Good job to all the Ubers in Legendary gear, Congrats on kicking him around. It makes hunting the gear really worth it to you. I have a mid-20s zerker in all pristine cabonite with imbued pieces and weapons. Anyone have any tips for those of us who are only adequetly geared? I have tried him 2h and 1h and sheild and no luck with either. Any thoughts out there? I know, hunt legendary kit... but is it possible without it?

24 zerker. Handcrafted gear. Destroyed me. Not even gonna try again it was such a blowout. I can take two solo mobs at a time, and easily kill any solo encounter. Nothing in there got me below 80%. Yet, this guy comes out and pounds me into the ground. This is a fight that only tests your gear, and the cash you have to blow on potions.

I tried again last night and lost to the champion again, destroyed all the others easily. Pristine Imbued Cedar Great staff as weapon, I had stamina food, used a Str and Sta potion (+17 to each) and an Agi potion (+17) Also during the fight I used a defense token to start it off, and used a heal potion once. I was stunning and interrupting him pretty good, much like the first attempt, once he got down real low, he self healed back up to about the hps I had. When I died he had 8% hps left, I couldn't use the heal potion because it hadn't refreshed yet, I missed a couple of stuns and interrupts at the end again. I think I might be able to take him with a little bit of luck, so far it hasn't gone my way though. Also, for the level 50s that have tried him, what level is he when you try him? I forgot to check when I fought him but I know he was 50 when I was 48, for some reason I'm thinking he was 50 at 49 also, if so, just getting to lvl 50 should help me beat him.

I finally beat the champ last night, I used the following. Weapon : Pristine Imbued Cedar Great Staff Before fight Potions : Str and Sta, Agi, Max Health, and most importantly Torrent of Ages poison. During Fight : Health Regen potion once, Defense Token (from Bloodlines) twice. When I killed him I still had plenty of power left, and over 35% hps left. The main difference was the Torrent of Ages poison, for those that don't know it's a rare poison that is usable by all classes (for now at least). It adds a 25% chance to proc a 300hp dmg, followed by a 55hp damage, then 55hp every 6 seconds. Oh yeah, and it lasts 12 hours when you activate it. I looked at my parser stats, and the poison made up 29.1% of my damage, so I'd say it helped a good bit. Also, you might want to get a disease resistance potion, that's what he casts. I think without the poison, it would have been close like last time, don't know if I would have taken him though. So, I would say either have lots of fabled gear, or use potions and stuff, and you should have a shot at beating him. Good luck

lvl 26 berserker here. I got the champion into the red, but he wasted me. Does anyone have any advice on how to kill him? I don't have the cash to go out and buy rare armor, but in a couple levels I will probably try to get the SBH. Should I just wait until I get the SBH, then try again, or is it possible to do now?

btw.....I have full AQ gear, all player made jewelry. My weapons are a Zum Zum tribal spear and stell mace for duel wield (or pristine carbonite falchion for slashing) and a starfall with a tower shield for 1h and shield. I also used a damage shield potion.

Don't ever underestimate the debuffs your hex dolls provide.. they debuff for 2 minutes and never miss, at least mine have not.. one knocks 6-10% from his attack speed, and the other lowers his physical mitigation by roughly 260-380ish, can't remember exact stats on that, but it's close to those numbers.. anyway, fought him 6 straight times, got him down to 2% twice, 1% once.. yeah, talk about frustrating, but alas I remembered to use the debuffs on my +12 dolls and killed him with 60% health left, and I seemed to get more PGT procs than usual, so I had 1+ bubbles of power left as well. Anyway, hope this helps, and YES, the hex doll debuffs really do help turn the tide in the final battle.. Best of luck! --Ryykar

I know all the post of the forums says that 2 hander is the way to go for a zerker but i honestly cant see why, but then again the only decent 2 hander is the heirophant crook which is my weapon of choice for trails of harclave. For the Champion my success was deal as much damage to him as quickly as i can and to use every stun you have as often as you can. I start with raging blows (which stuns) followed by vanquish (does high damage and stuns) and then frenzy then stunning roar then used no quarter (to get a beserk once it wears off) followed by both rage and infurate (which will give 3 zerk effects). then continued the cycle adding a mutilate, bully (which interupts casting) while waiting for the skills to reset.

thats what worked for me. goodluck

Burlap

Barbarian level 50 Beserker

Permafrost server

I agree that the Champ is tough. He will be very easy if you will just constantly stun him whenever he tries to cast. Thats the easiest way I have found so far.

I beat the champ the first time on easy, he destroyed me with 56% on very hard. I thought all zerker's had it easy with him until I checked out this post, probably being lvl 50 made the most difference. At lvl 50 he was lvl 52 btw for those wondering. On very hard I believe he was lvl 56. My buff lineup was: Unflinching Will (adept1) Weapon Guard(adept1) Tides of War(adept3) War Chant (adept1) Destructive Rage(adept1) Battle Tactics(adept3) Screaming Fury(adept3) Uthros' Defiant Cry, Unbridled Fury (app4), Focus Rage(adept 1), Controlled Rage (app4), Blood Rage(adep3). Used Screaming Mace and SBS throughout the whole fight. I rampaged(app4) when he was low on health to help finish him off. I only used Blood Rage once during the beginning before he aggroed, I waited until I saw him, then cast it and didn't engage until my health was almost back up. Of course this only gave me roughly 15 seconds of it but I proced it probably at least 2 times which made it very worth it. I just poored everything into him, trying to stun/interrupt him when I caught him casting, and keep my power depletion atks on him whenever they poped. It was a close fight on easy, think I finished with 40% health? Sorry like I said it's been awhile as I beat him the first time trying and didn't bother to go back(this was when Splitpaw first opened up). For those of you lvl 21+ don't sell out the bloodrage, it's one of our best combat abilites and if you learn how to use it to it's fullest will make the impossible possible. Here's a hint, high dmg slow weapons (I aim for 2.3 sec delay, best imo). Good luck in there!

You can swap the ones you want to use during the fight and activate them to cast. I have two hotkeys setup for my activatable slots, so you can just click them without having to open your inventory or anything. I don't normally use them, but for really hard fights it's worth a shot. The potions I know of are (+strength and +stamina, +agility, + max health, + max power, heal over time, direct heal, +mitigation, then there are various +resist potions and I think regens that work only out of combat), also after you get through some of the bloodlines you can buy two defense tokens. They increase your defense for a short period of time. Any of them can be helpful, but the heal ones have really long recast times, so use them early if you try them. The stat, health, power, etc... ones last for either 15 minutes or 30 minutes depending on the potion.

I've only done it once so far - lvl 44.

I had read a lot of posts about taking a defensive tactic (shield and 1h until he is OOP), but opted for SSOY and PGT. So far, I have found that combo the best for solo / tough battles. (assuming the PGT procs sufficiently) -

Using that method, I went all out offensive and the PGT proc'd enough so that I could use specials throughout and finished with 32% health. I have no doubt that two less procs from PGT and it would have been a much different story.

Armor is a mix - ebon/fulginate, and wide mixture of jewelry, no potions.

Polished Granite Tomahawk - its a Heritage item.

It's a 30s item so its blue (maybe even green now) to me at 44, but it procs a 500+pt ablative plus gives you a power/mana increase. The DPS and stats are OK even at 44, throw in the proc and its amazing.

I did try the champ again today - PGT only proc'd once and I died when he had 2% left.

Looking at the logs, I resisted less of his spells so the two together had the expected result:smileywink:

Plus he appeared to heal himself more than the first time (guess my interrupts were not as well timed).

Anyone know if his spells are magic or poison?

When I beat him, I had full set of Ebon, most of my skills Are Adept3/Masters, and I used PGT and pristine imbued cedar baton. This was on normal difficulty. I had 35% hp left and about 50% power when he went down. And honestly, if I'd poured on the DPS a bit more, probably would have had more HP left then I did. I took a more cautious route, concentrating on stuns and running him down on power. When his power runs out, that's when he starts meleeing more (of course), and so you want to have the power left to finish him off quickly when this happens. I used Defense token to start off the fight, and had the usual potions to boost sta/str/agi. I didn't use any resist potions. Right before engaging, I buffed Gnoll Master and Anarchy. Hit him with mitigation doll, then immediately moved in and stunned him and hit power drain. Continued stuns and power drain throughout fight to prevent him from casting. Moving to back of mob after stuns is especially helpful, as this prevents him from negating your attack. It does take a bit of work to do, but works well. I plan on trying difficult next, this time adding a poison proc potion into the mix.
