Please don't laugh; but, I just don't want to be the MT of a group. I will sometimes group with others to accomplish things; however I generally like to go it alone. This works well for my monk (level 34) and sort of ok for my rogues (low 20s) and I am ever so interested in seeing if it will work for my berserker (currently level 20) since sometimes avoidance tanking gets real old, real fast.

There don't seem to be any recent (last few months) posts on the topic of how to solo and the life of an asocial berserker, so here comes some questions:

How well does a berserker solo (could you conceive of making a career of it)?

What are the best types of encounters to tackle (number of MOBs, class mixes, heroic/solo, etc.)?

What techniques do you use in a solo setting that you might not in a group MT or DPS role?

At this point, I've soloed 99% of the time spent on my Zerker. I hit lvl 37 this morning, and I'm still soloing extremely well. If you choose the right fights, you can get up to 1.4% xp per encounter (depending on vitality and encounter) until at least lvl 37. Just remember, that we excel at killing large groups of easy (down arrow) mobs. I posted some of my mid-30's techniques in this thread.

How well do berserkers solo?

They solo just as well (basically) as any other class if played well. The difference is that zerkers are easy to solo with and put out the maximum of pain with the minimum of fuss. They are a *good* solo class, in as much as you could conceivably do nothing but solo for leveling. I can't actually imagine how you could do that without going insane but I'm sure you manage lol.

What encounters to go for?

Any solo encounter orange or lower, multiple solo encounters at once, blue or lower, to really get the blood pumping. The best of the solo encounters are the groups of 3 down-arrows, they allow you to maximise your damage using our AoE skills (which is where we really do shine)

I wouldn't attempt any heroics above a green ^^, be it grouped or single mob.

The only type of mob you might have trouble with is grouped enchanter mobs. The silence kills.

Technique

Single easy mob : engage, lay out the dps, they die. simple as that.

Group of easy mobs : cast Blood Rage > pull with arrow > berserker barrage > assault line attack > stunning cry (if you have it by this point) > HO (and hope its the group one lol) and most of them will be dead by this point.

Single ^^ mob : Whack on a sword and shield and cast concussion and wound lines till they run out of mana, then pull out the dual-weilders (or 2-handed weapon) and beat down.

Group of ^ mobs : Same as group of easy mobs, but slightly harder.

Spells to keep up : Focus Rage, Fury, Soldier's Stance

Weapons to use :

All group encounters : 2-hander to increase proc rate of blood rage.

Easy solo mobs : Imbued rare (or not rare) dual-wielders. Preferably one imbued and one other since the procs don't stack as it's a self buff not a proc in the traditional sense.

Hard single mobs : shield and sword/axe/mace/etc. till they're out of mana, then either dual-weilders or a 2-hander.

hope it helps, other people may have different opinions but this works for me. If you do it right, you will be plowing through the bodies by dinner-time
