View Full Version : Prismatic Longsword, Greatsword, or other?
<DIV>I'm curious what the majority of Berserkers out there have chosen for their prismatic weapon. I imagine Greatsword, but we'll see. My guild is getting around to this sooner or later, and I realized I was very much up in the air with my choice.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>First, the 2h Rod and 1h Scepter are right out. I don't need to load up on int or wis, and the skill mods aren't relevant.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Both dual wield options are low on my list, but I'd probably take the Baton over the Swiftblade. The baton has stamina and HP, and is slower, whereas the swiftblade focuses on agility and power.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The Greatsword is the only realistic 2h option, and has an impressive damage rating and excellent strength bonus, but I'm already doing ok for 2h weapons. I have EBBC for slashing, Mudslinger's Arm for crushing, and Pike of Precision for piercing and general use. I realize the Prismatic Greatsword is better than the EBBC, but neither are Fabled, so both risk being replaced sooner or later. I also question whether the higher damage rating and +3 slashing skill on the Greatsword overcomes the +15 piercing skill on the Pike.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This leaves the Longsword, which I am leaning towards for now. My current stable of 1h weapons includes such beauties as the Wyrmsteel Longsword and (heh) Wand of Dark Prayers. I don't tank often, and when I do, it's to briefly off-tank on a raid. In that situation, my DPS is not a primary concern. Still, the upcoming combat changes may force me into a shield-using role more often (especially post-expansion), so this could be the choice for the long term.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any thoughts or testimony from the Berserkers of the Shard out there?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Sir Konk</DIV> <DIV><A href="http://eq2shadows.com/" target=_blank>Shadow Syndicate</A></DIV> <DIV>Najena</DIV>
I took the Longsword my self because i still believe in tank first , I have the Zalak Tower Shield of Dominion so its a great match..... I currently use a Greatstaff of the Winds as a 2H ( still waiting on a Royal Great Flail ) ... Oh and ive been able to still parse 165-200 dps consistent on raids with Longsword + Zalak Shield combo <div></div>
<DIV>Hello fellow Najenaer</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Prismatic greatsword is gonna be the best 2 hand slasher, period, fabled or not (in current game). The highest attack raiting, the proc, the power regen, 38 str, its got it all. The only downside is that it is a little fast 2.3 (for a zerker). You replace your EBBC with that the differance is huge. I use that and the Ancient Combine Greatflail. The ACGF will outdamage it when im in a well buffed grp, but small grp/solo the prismatic is clearly higher. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>GL to you and the rest of SS on Deception</DIV>

<P>I took the Great Sword, just because I never tank in raids, no zerker in our guild does. We are DPS and buffs for the DPS group and the Off Tank group. As in buffing the Guardianing in the Off Tank group. Our Job is DPS as of right now, and when the combat changes happen we will become useless so it's really is a mute point. </P> <P>When I do I have a Fable Shield and a Fable 1h of all the different types of melee weapons for the immune situations. I mean when I do as an maybe once a month. I have the shield and 1h for when the expansion comes out and I will be in groups for xp'n. </P> <P>In normal groups a Legendary shield and 1h will do the job on any mob so you really dont need fable, I just raid alot and just get the stuff when nobody else wants it. </P>
<P>See where you stand on the totem poll with the new combat changes, ALMOST LAST ON DPS</P> <P> </P> <P>Good luck.</P> <P>Enjoy your fables.</P> <P> </P>
Thanks for the advice. Just to follow up, I did end up taking the Greatsword. I do fill the off-tank role fairly often (even MT if our Guardians are hiding) but in those situations, I don't particularly need DPS. The power regen would have been nice, but oh well.<BR><BR>The Greatsword looks more impressive than the Longsword anyway. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><BR><BR><A href="http://eq2shadows.com/modules.php?name=Roster2&op=viewchar&char=40" target=_blank>Sir Konk</A><BR><A href="http://eq2shadows.com/" target=_blank>Shadow Syndicate</A><BR>Najena
