When I use fury does it often drop before the 15 mins are over. Does anyone know why it drops or how I can prevend it from dropping too early?

It's a known problem and there's no way to keep it from dropping. Every time it procs a 'reckless counter' it has a random chance to drop. SOE has noted multiple times that they have "fixed" the fury-line, but it is still bugged despite all the changes. This has been a problem for months now. Sorry for the bad news :smileysad:

The Fury line only has a certain number of procs attached to it. It has a long duration so you have the most available time per mana cost to use up all of the procs. When it drops, just recast it again. The cost to cast is based on how many procs it has not how long it lasts.

I have had Greater Fury (upgrade to Fury) drop on me in 1 proc, and before that it proc'd around 8 or more before dropping. On another accasion I've had it last a few group encounters before dropping with multiple procs.

I've done some pretty extensive testing. Fury drops after 10 procs always. A lot of times it can seem like it's dropping earlier but never once in my parses did it go over 10 procs or under. It was always right on the money. If you want to get fury fixed post your 2 cents on how a 15 min buff shouldn't be lasting 30 secs in a group situation.

With the increased attack rate of npc's and the avoidance changes on test Fury will be severly gimped (not that it isn't already). We gotta make ourselves heard.

Here: http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=spellart&message.id=44772
Message Edited by Rhaaman on 05-01-2005 11:23 PM

You can prevent it from dropping at a bad time by refreshing it before it drops, after every fight for example. Refreshing it will put it back up to ten uses whenever you do it.

Even in its current state it is still one of our most mana-efficient damage abilities, so I am leery of asking for any changes on it, since improvements are virtually always accompanied by "compensating" nerfs in some other area (but the reverse is not true unfortunately). The Fury line is much improved now from the sorry shape it was in at release, i.e. at least it is usable now, so I say leave it be.

When they go live we are going to be getting hit A LOT more. It won't even stay up the minute that it does now. Having to constantly recast fury is a pain in the [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] as is. I don't see what the problem would be with raising the mana cost in proportion to the increase in the number of procs. Having to constantly recast a 15 min buff every minute gets old quick.

Fair enough. On the other hand, if you have to refresh Greater Fury every minute, then you are doing as much as a thousand damage every minute just from that one spell (GFury can hit for ~100, can't be avoided as far as I can tell, and has ten uses; if all ten 'charges' are used in less than a minute that's around 1k damage/minute, or 16.7 DPS).

So the avoidance/defense changes on Test could be seen as an improvement to Fury or a nerf, hard to say. Since I don't play on Test I will have to reserve judgment until the changes go live, but I will say that I doubt SOE has seriously thought through all the ramifications of the changes they are making, e.g. the Fury concerns probably haven't even occured to them.

I didn't do testing, but from the duration it surely didn't seem very many unless you really pay attention to it (which I did after my last post). That's exactly what I was refering to, it drops before it has even had a chance to refresh making it a nuisance more than helpful and very confusing on if it is procing more than a few times. What's the point of having a duration if it's coded to drop after a certain number of procs anyhow? I say increase the number of procs to 30 and lose the duration. After LU#8 they're going to have to increase it somehow with all the extra hits we're going to be taking it will drop even faster than it is now and we'll start taking it off our hotbars again.
