Which is more fun to play in general, Paladins or Berzerkers? My main focus will pretty much be soloing, though I do enjoy grouping. I have played a paladin up to the mid twenties and they are good but its a little boring. I was thinking berzerkers would have more offensive skills and might be more interesting. Going to be starting over with a froglok in May and just wondering what way to go?

Not sure what you consider being fun, my friend plays paladin and likes it a lot. Hands down one of the best solo professions, heavy armor, kite shield, good weapons and most important heals. I like my lil berserker but sometimes feels quite unsafe cause I don't have anything to backup or rely on if things go wrong.

I have a 26 Pally and i find him boring also. For me, tis because he is an in between character and as such is kinda middle of the road. Im having alot more fun and success with my 22 Zerker because he dishes out so much more DPS with all the armor. So it's a more potent character. The heals with my Pally fer soloing were not that much use beacuse i needed the power fer HO's, and using the manna fer heals just was defeating the purpose. I like the fact that i kill much faster using duel weild and dont need the heals.

So my Templar and my Zerker will be my mains.

I'd say berserkers do have something to rely on the moment everything goes to heck: run fast and hope they leave you alone:smileytongue:

paladin can solo better

in groups they can hold aggro fine if MT and tank as good as zerker but deal less damage, but they make up for it with excellent healing, so for groups that go against easy xp content zerker is better, for hard stuff paladin is better.

in raids paladins are much more usefull then zerkers, because they can heal nearly as good as priest classes if they go pure healing (and tank as good as zerkers, well even better since when it gets close they can heal themselves)

paladins and guardian are the shining example of how 2 classes of one archetype can be both useful in groups and raids while fullfiling their job.

berserker is fun to play but kinda pointless in raidgame except for hp buffs and damage (and while our damage can be great, especially using royal great flail - we dont have aggro reducers so we either must do less damage to not overaggro or do max damage and die on hard encounters ^^)

you ll read of berserkers tanking raidgame, yep its possible but guardians are more effective so why bother?

if you want to be a fighter, go guardian if ya want to be MT, paladin if ya want to be a great support tank....

go zerker/shadowknight/bruiser/monk if ya think SoE can make our classes more raid friendly in the near future (sometimes took em years in EQ1 to fix a class)

if ya dont care about raidgame however, chose what you like best

Paladins are pansies. Sure the class is more capable and more all round useful, as well as they get a horse when we get a cheap palour trick burning fist. But they're still pansies. The prove comes when you first get handed bezerker barrage. Holy *$%#&! does that hit hard. Then get adept1, then master 1. Woo hoo. Zerker all the way! Paladins. Pah. (Dogbert hand wave)

Never played a pally and i dont think i will be anytime soon... Zerkers are great, tank/dps what more do you want. And zerkers can solo awfully well if that makes sense. I solo greens^^ and named greens with buddies ^^. And those are upper greens... cause now they have a lower lvl green and a higher lvl green... if that makes sense.

But on the subject of which being more fun... cant say cept froma zerkers point of view... but maybe in the near future i will try a pally... ><

I've played my level 50 Zerker from launch and have loved every minute of it. Solowise, it wasn't really an option until my higher levels (the game was anti-solo when I started). I've had no problem solo'ing selected named mobs (Broodmother, Dreaded Sattar, etc). The Paladin in my guild swears on his character class as well though (they're a great assets on raids with their Avoidance/Mit buffs and touch-up heals). IMO, Berserker is the class to play if you want to solo from time to time, tank, or play dps as an assist.

i have tried playing both - amongst many other classes - and this has been my favourite so far. im not into the numbers of the game so much - ie exact figures of how much dps i do, etc. but the differences are obvious even when you dont look too closely. what i found with my paladin was that the small heals simply did not outweight the additional dps my zerker could put out. i find myself killing mobs so much faster with a zerker that most of the time you dont even need a heal - and if you do - the small paladin heal still would not be enough to save my *$%#&!. sure there are times when the mob and myself are both down to 5% and a minor heal would have made all the difference - but that rarely happens. i noticed the other night in EL - i was on the beach killing turtles - i came across a lvl 33 paladin - i was 29. i was amazed to find that even tho he started hacking away at a same lvl turtle - i ended up killing mine whilst he still had a good 1/3 to go! didnt seem right - or maybe zerkers really do dish out a huge amount more dps.

i think they are both great classes. i play a zerker,, though only lvl37 so i haven't seen end game yet. and i know a few people who love their pallies.

I am on oggok and i think one of the reasons i like my Zerker so much is that I don't see that many of them around. i am sure they are there but I think I have only met three or four other people who play berzerkers.. so i feel kinda unique.

i can still say " hey watch what this move does!" without showing people something that they have seen three million times before.

that... and I find it more fun to just diving in.. casting Whirlwind on everything standing around and seeing if i can't live through my stupidity.....I am a barbarian berzerker after all.. Probably not the most inteligent adventurer on the planet MWAH HA HA HA HA
