*** Crafting Events ***

- Beneficial events can now occur during crafting which will prove very useful for tradeskillers. There are three different events, each providing a handy bonus for the skilled artisan.

Technique Buff (Uncommon)
- Countering this event gives +150 progress and +150 durability to the item you're making. It also gives you a 5-minute buff that increases your crafting technique by 25.
- Benefit: This is very useful for crafters preparing for a tricky combine. For example, you may warm up by creating some components that trigger a Technique Buff, so that your final product will take advantage of this handy skill bonus.
- Failing to counter this event gives +150 progress and +150 durability to the item you're making.

Complete Efficiency (Rare)
- Countering this event will cause the item you're currently making to instantly become pristine by adding +1000 progress and +1000 durability. Note: Soon we will also add a secondary effect that causes no components to be consumed in the production of the item.
- Benefit: Think of this as being like a critical hit for tradeskillers. An instant pristine item!
- Failing to counter this event gives +350 progress and +350 durability to the item you're making.

Favor of Innovation (Extremely Rare)
- Countering this event will cause the item you're currently making to instantly become pristine by adding +1000 progress and +1000 durability. It also provides the crafter a rare harvested item appropriate to their level range and profession.
- Alchemist: Precious Metal
- Sage: Precious Metal
- Carpenter: Wood
- Provisioner: Root
- Armorer: Ore
- Tailor: Pelt
- Weaponsmith: Ore
- Jeweler: Precious Gem
- Woodworker: Wood
- Benefit: Think of this event as the gods of Innovation bestowing favor upon you for your skill and ingenuity. Not only do you get a pristine item, but a valuable harvested component as well!
- Failing to counter this event gives +500 progress and +500 durability to the item you're making.

Test Server Update Notes: April 1, 2005

Now i dont know about you guys, but im thinking of starting my own artisan up because of this. Prices are just going literally ballistic on Everforst server, we got people trying to sell Ebon clusters for 10 plat, Rough Coral for 3 - 4 plat, Palladium has bumped up 150% to 1 plat or you can buy the tourqe for 1 plat, Jasper is up around the 70 gold mark because people see that Palladium is up around the 1 plat mark even though its not even used in anything worth that much money in the first place, so this may just prove to be something very useful, and seeing as the game was designed with artisans having a major role, then they should basically control the market, after all that is all they do, supply > demand.

When you put some thought into it, and depending on how they will implement the % chance of a rare HO, then this could be more efficient then going out and farming nodes. I mean, for those that have put in over a 8 - 10 hour period doing nothing but banging your head on rocks, pulling out roots with your teeth and punting mushrooms for a field goal, you will know you can never constantly farm the nodes you are looking for making your job even harder, longer and more frustrating. So this in a sense will decrease the time you spend farming nodes, and give you that chance to get rare harvestable items on a constant basis, instead of for example, if im looking for rock nodes for ethier ore or precious gems, you dont see these nodes as much as you do roots, mushrooms, logs and dens. Having that constant chance on a workbench as if it was one big constant chunk of rock, or a massive root, is going to increase the amount of rares that are bought into the system and stop this crazy inflation, cause you think about how many combines some of these artisans do in a 6 - 12 hour period and the number can be scary. Now again, this all depends on how they will implement the % of a rare HO, it might be the same as a chance of a rare harvest from a node, it may be less, but ethier way, this is a good thing in deed because of the sheer amount of combines compared to searching for the correct node.

Taemek Frozenberg 47th Berserker
16th Outfitter
Everfrost Server

Enlightened Aonein Amillion ( retired )
70th Stone Fist of The Celestial Fist
Five Rings on Luclin Server

Not sure I'd use this as a reason to jump into TS...its a long term committment to get a toon up in high 40s when you can reasonaly be productive. I've been doin TS on/off for awhile now and it definately speaks to a certain type of player, which some days I really am not (rather mash heads than mash a forge some nights).

I think these changes are good though, some of it is a little "Monty Hall" but if it gets more rares into the game so be it. Also as a TSer I'd like to see the insta pristine every now and then.

Yeah, I've been neglecting tradeskills since the evil evil fuel patch that made 2/3rds of my friends who crafted quit the game, I've been doing them off an don, mostly with my Prov to make my Zerker some drinks, and have stalled my Zerker at 19-ish before going into Armor because I know what a pain it's gonna be. I will be crafting more now since I'm gonna need a new set of Armor pretty soon anyway, this just makes me actually WANT to try crafting again. Maybe I'll dig my Carpenter up and get him going out of T3 finally....I'm still hoping the combat abilities fix patch comes out as expected :smileyvery-happy:
