<DIV>Im a bit confused after this patch. How does "Damage Rating" of a weapon works? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Is that a more faithful value than the old "Damage" one?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Example, at 42 for 2 handed weapons:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- Mammoth:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Damage Rating: 41.1</DIV> <DIV>Damage: 56-169</DIV> <DIV>Base Damage: 26-77</DIV> <DIV>Delay: 2.5</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- Heart Reaver:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Damage Rating: 42.5</DIV> <DIV>Damage: 40-119</DIV> <DIV>Base Damage: 20-61</DIV> <DIV>Delay: 1.9</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Example, at 42 for 1 handed weapons:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- Ghoulbane:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Damage Rating: 29.8</DIV> <DIV>Damage: 29-86</DIV> <DIV>Base Damage: 13-38</DIV> <DIV>Delay: 1.7</DIV> <DIV>Attack: </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- Pristine Fulginate Long Sword:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Damage Rating: 33.4</DIV> <DIV>Damage: 26-77</DIV> <DIV>Base Damage: 14-43</DIV> <DIV>Delay: 1.7</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>According to "Damage", my Mammoth and Ghoulbane will do more damage both in 2h or 1h weapon department.... but according to "Damage Rating", Heart Reaver and Pristine Fulginate would do more damage.....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So what is the correct value? Should i take "Damage Rating" in consideration? Or just "Damage"?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I used to judge my weapons "real damage" by the "Damage" value, now im confused as hell.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Davish_Darkwolf on <span class=date_text>03-25-2005</span> <span class=time_text>02:27 AM</span>
<P>The damage rating is calculated by adding the min + max base damage of the weapon and dividing by the delay. For example, the Mammoth:</P> <DIV>Base Damage: 26 - 77</DIV> <DIV>Delay: 2.5</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>26+77 = 103</DIV> <DIV>103 / 2.5 = 41.2</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The reason why your other weapons show more damage then the damage rating would suggest are stats. The damage rating only takes base damage and delay into consideration. Stats and procs are not added into the equation, so if 2 weapons have the same base damage and delay, yet one of them increases Strength more, the weapon that increases strength will do more damage.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Thx <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Regarding the Mammoth doing more damage i guess it's because it's still yellow to me while the Heart Reaver is orange and im not using it to full advantage. The bonus differences between the 2 weapons are minimal.... so that just might be it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV><p>Message Edited by Davish_Darkwolf on <span class=date_text>03-25-2005</span> <span class=time_text>05:06 AM</span>

You forgot 1 major thing.. Innate Attack value.. I swapped 1hs for 2hs. Same strength and same slashing skill.. I saw 58 attack gain just using 2h. Sounds like 2h does have innate attack bonus that 1h wouldn't have. That alone could help out with more dps than 1h even with SAME damage rating.. Basically, you reduce advoidance % and increase attack value by switching from 1h to 2h. It surely is a nice concept and supposed to be. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Something of note I found last night, the damage rating is not accurate until you *attune* the weapon. Though you can compare unattuned weaps vs other unattuned, its not useful in compared to those you have... It looks like the DR is based on the items level while unattuned, and on yours after.. so in theory a white con weapon would be accurate but I didnt test that.
