View Full Version : Bad news for Ebon armor wearers...

Will let the Q&A snipet talk for itself. Needless to say, this is a bad day for any class that has invested multiple weeks / plat into obtaining a set of Pristine Ebon Armor :smileysad:

Brekkee - *lodar_befallen* Question... Its about the new proc that we can add to armor with the upcoming patch. Wanted to know if we will be able to add it to already equipped (attuned) armor? Specially for the pristine ebon armor, thinking that the ebon is pretty hard to come by?
Moorgard - The new recipes for enchanted items that crafters will be getting allows them to build new items. This isn't about adventurers adding procs to existing items, but rather giving tradeskillers even more cool things to make. The original pristine items will still have a lot of value, and the enchanted items will be new gear that has additional benefits. (done)

enchantments are only for breast and legs. so if you already had the money to purchase a full set of ebon, the purchase of only TWO new pieces should be easy ;P

Nothing is going to happen to Ebon armor, and im pretty sure the enchantments can be added to the Ebon armor itself, here :

*** New Harvested Items and Recipes ***

- There are new types of uncommon harvested items to be found. They can be gathered from existing harvesting nodes and are identified as glowing, sparkling, glimmering, or luminous depending on their level range.
- New recipe books are available for purchase at the camps of the Hand of Marr and Brethren of Night. Those wishing to buy the books will need to first earn favor with the merchants.
- Using these new recipes and new harvested items, Alchemists can create magical extracts that other crafters can use to make new items or enhance existing goods.
- Armorers and Tailors can combine the magical extract with certain pieces of pristine armor and make new types of enchanted armor. When the wearer is attacked, chest pieces have a chance to proc a heal-over-time spell and leggings have the chance to proc a damage spell.
- Weaponsmiths and Woodworkers can combine the magical extract with certain types of pristine weapons and make new types of enchanted weapons. These weapons have the chance to proc a damage spell in combat.
- Woodworkers can combine the magical extract with certain types of pristine shields and make new types of enchanted shields that have a chance to proc a damage spell during combat. They can also use the magical extract to infuse wands with an activated damage spell.
- Tailors can use the magical extract to create hex dolls that cast a detrimental effect on an enemy. The dolls also provide a minor stat buff to the user.
- Jewelers can combine the magical extract with certain types of pristine rings and make new types of enchanted rings that provide activated buffs to strength, agility, wisdom, intelligence, or stamina.
- For weapons, armor, and shields, the quality level of the creation process determines the potency of the magical effect attached to the item. All quality levels of enchanted weapons, armor, and shields retain the stats of the pristine item used to make them.

http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=tup&message.id=31

As you can see, you first need a pristine item to work into a enchanted peice of armor, so, nothing is happening to Ebon armor, and it will more then likely get the procs added to the armor peices just like any other pristine BP or Legs but if you are already wearing the armor and its attuned it appears you may be out in the cold, which to me seems very unfair, specially with the price it costs to make. They should at least reroll the attuneable items again and let us re attune them all, but then, saying that, how rare are these magical extracts going to be i wonder. :smileywink:

Taemek Frozenberg 44th Berserker
16th Outfitter
Blood and Ice
Everfrost Server

Enlightened Aonein Amillion ( retired )
70th Stone Fist of The Celestial Fist
Five Rings on Luclin Server

Hmm, ya this is a good question. I am in the process of getting some pristine ebon armor. Can a Dev please clarify if unattuned pristine ebon will be enchantable, or if attuned pristine ebon will be enchantable, or if neither will be and it will be only for new types of armor? I would really hate to waste a lot of plats because of miscommunication.

braxus 47 berserker

Pure speculation here, but my interpretation from the comments in the patch notes and dev chat sessions is that the new enhancements will only be added during creation of the item, and not post production.

So don't think of them as Aug slots ala EQ1... Just enchantments placed on the item while the crafter is creating them.

But like i said, pure speculation.

Yes its not like Aug slots in EQ1, the crafter first has to make a Pristine item, then imbue the item with the magical extract, so their acually adding the effect to the item. Once its added, there is probally no going back.

Taemek Frozenberg 44th Berserker
16th Outfitter
Blood and Ice
Everfrost Server

Enlightened Aonein Amillion ( retired )
70th Stone Fist of The Celestial Fist
Five Rings on Luclin Server
