<DIV>Hello, I do not play a Berserker, but I am curious as to the actual effects of a Berserk State.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Some things that I have learnt form reading the forums - </DIV> <DIV>   - Has a built in haste</DIV> <DIV>   - Lowers defense</DIV> <DIV>   - Increases dps directly</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What I am wondering is - </DIV> <DIV>   - Does being Berserk cause you to automatically riposte? (Either from melee strike or mob casting on you, even if the mob isn't your main target)</DIV> <DIV>   - How many of your combat skills are AoE (blue background) and not E,AoE (green background)?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thank you for your time!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Servers still down and bored, so, clarifying...I was in a group the other day with -</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>36 Warden</DIV> <DIV>34 Coercer</DIV> <DIV>35 Conjuror</DIV> <DIV>34 Ranger</DIV> <DIV>37 Berserker</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Yay, no mezzing, fun times, dps woohoo....then the Warden goes LD during a pull. </DIV> <DIV>The 2 mob encounter, /con orange, each is 1^....ok, no healer, we can do it...</DIV> <DIV>Then another set of 2 1^ yellow's add....ok, no healer, mezzing is definately in order.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Needless to say that without a healer (not just LD, but FULLY LD, everyone including the Berserker was aware) we were unable to handle the adds, as mezzes were being broken left and right. Not dots were on any mobs. The question arose from the Ranger, who was wondering why we were unable to lock the adds down.</DIV> <DIV>The response was from the Berserker, which was -</DIV> <DIV>    - <EM>When I get attacked I automatically hit the mob, even if they cast on me.</EM></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now, I'm not sure if tanks automatically riposte on melee or casts, but that's what it sounded like. So then the Ranger says, I just turn off attack when I don't want to hit anything. The Berserker said that it doesn't matter if he did, because he would still auto-attack.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Then the chanter (me) was wondering, how a mob that is mezzed, is able to attack?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What is this ability that makes for auto-riposte, if not this Berserk State?</DIV><p>Message Edited by Sekhau on <span class=date_text>03-08-2005</span> <span class=time_text>08:11 AM</span>

Riposte is something all fighters have, not just zerkers.

Blue means that it affects all monsters in range, not just monsters in your targeted encounter.Green means that it affects all monsters in your targeted encounter. At the risk of sounding rude, Jerisa, how did you get to 45th level without knowing that?

- When I get attacked I automatically hit the mob, even if they cast on meI guess he had fury or greater fury on him ,that ability makes you hit mobs when they hit you

<DIV>If we are in front of the mob yes we do have a chance to repost however this will not turn on auto-attack, but if the Zerker is using Fury or Greater Fury and gets hit the skill will cause the player to hit the mob and turns on auto-attack (very annoying to have to click it off when running because if a mob hits you, you turn around and start attacking).  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The Berserk state in itself will not cause auto attack to turn on.  Hope this helps answer your question.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Kurrath</DIV> <DIV>43 Berserker & Co-leader of Misericordia</DIV> <DIV>Mistmoore</DIV>

When you are berserk there is absolutely no defense adjustment of any kind. The reason people still think this is because this is the way it was at launch. It was changed about 2 months ago. Again, your defense does not lower when you are berserk!</FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV></BLOCKQUOTE>

<DIV>Even when Berserk did lower defense, the actually amount it lowered it was so low, it was not even noticable.</DIV>

<DIV>        Little story:  When I am in a group and we decide to run past the giants on the way to Permafrost instead of fighting the way there, my character automatically engages (locks in encounter) some giants that hit me.  It has gotten me down to yellow health often on the way there since my run speed is lowered while engaged and yelling takes a second or two.  Even when I don't have Greater Fury up this happens.  I couldn't find which spell was doing this.  I thought it was barmble coat (fury or warden spell, not sure), but it happens even when they aren't in the group.  </DIV> <DIV>        What might have happened in your group was, someone had a spell that caused the berserker to aoe counter attack.  Or with so many mobs and so much confusion, it's possible that some people just weren't assisting.  I'm lvl 50 and I still have groups where people don't assist or lose their cool and aoe when they shouldn't in the heat of battle.  When you start to panic, you forget that there's an enchanter in the group and you do what you've made a habit of doing (area attacks).</DIV>

<DIV>You do realize you cannot reposte a mob if they are mez'ed because to reposte requires a mob to swing at you.  Mez'ed mobs do not swing at you.</DIV>
