Hey all, I have a fighter that I'm planning on taking to either a Guardian, Beserker, or Shadowknight. I am really leaning towards SK, but the more I read the less I like that decision. So I have started to think that Zerker would be fun, and I just wanted to hear some opinions from people, hoping more for what people like than what they dislike. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Thanks for any input you can give.

<DIV>welp i have a 24 ish sk and a 29 zerker and out of the 2 i prefer my bezerker. Its nice being able to kill a mob and move onto the next one in the time it would take my sk to half kill it, and killing green up 2's past 20 ish doesnt happen for sks but with my bezerker its not a problem. If they would fix the sk issues plagueing the class they would be a nice rounded class but until then ........GO ZERKER(and once there you'll never go back), as for the guardian thing why be like 95% of the other fighters.</DIV>
<DIV>I love mine and I'm a 33 Berserker now. Really starting to shine at these levels with damage output.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Furono</DIV> <DIV>33 Berserker - Oggok</DIV> <DIV><SPAN class=navbar_text>Apocalypse</SPAN></DIV>

I guess I was trying to have people say "Hey, I do great damage, have alot of fun playing my character, not the best raid tank there is but still love playing." So I know people usually love it, but it never hurts to ask. And as a comparison, I posted on the SK boards too, and most of them told me to play Zerker.

<DIV>Its a good class. We have limitations but then again all classes do. If you like a very flexible tank that can do a respectable amount of damage its fun to play.</DIV>

<DIV>Ratonga Zerker here and I'm having a blast. Hit 20 last night and maxed my gear and put on some dual giant picks. I hit Fallen Gate solo and ran through green^^ and never got hit. Leveled up quick on blue^^ and hit 21 in notime. I'm hoping this keeps up at least until 25 cause I'm having fun solo. Hit 21 in 5 days....took me forever to get my other 2 chars to 20+ through grouping heh.</DIV>

41 Berserker here since November, I love it. At one point I was confused about what to think of our class when weve been through the harsh fixes but I stuck to it and in the end I would not change it for any other class. We tank good, we do damage good, we get good aggro generator and at higher level when not MT we are a good off tank too with nice group buffs. I have yet to see the high level raids so I cant comment on that yet, I will leave my elders speak their tales about the legendary raids. If your into tanking with an offensive touch (we got nice AOE skills, nice group haste at high levels) and some of the best versatility out there then this is the class for you. Want to tank and lead a group? Go ahead we can take scratches and stomps. Want to button mash? Just go off-tank and pump that power bar. Tired? Want to take it easy? Go off-tank. I havent soloed much through the game but tried it for like 10 hours last week and found out I can do well at my level. We are berserkers, we are born to kill what do you expect more? Now get out of here young one and start splitting skulls already <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />
I love mine. I'm really starting to enjoy being the melee buffer. Most of my buffs help out the other meleers in the group. The rangers benefit from my haste and skill increases, if I'm not tanking the MT gets my extra hitpoints and defense. Then all I have to do is sit back and let the AOE's fly. Each time I level berserkers get more fun to play.

<DIV>The berserker appears to have one main advantage over the other stereotypical "tank" classes - they have many combat abilities that do damage to linked encounters. I can't say definitively because I've never played a guardian or paladin but from what I'm told and what I've seen - Berserkers seem to get many more group damage opportunities. This makes tanking post-30 very easy even with multiple enemies. Two of my favorites are Stomp and Stunning Cry. Stunning Cry is like Enrage or Shout except it does damage and a stun to all linked mobs. Stomp is the same as Kick or Knee Break but adds and extra attack and damages all linked mobs. Very nice to manage aggro above and beyond simply taunting and shouting. Berserker Barrage is a high damage attack effecting anything in front and to the side of you; Furious Onslaught is the standard AOE. There are others at higher levels but I'm currently 33 and those are the ones I find myself using.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But better than that a berserker can wear any type of armor and use any weapon including dual wields of all types - except fist wraps. My berserker regularly outdamages all classes but assassins and conjurors/necromancers (can't beat the mad DoT AOE's they get of course). That's pretty good for a fighter class. Definitely the choice to play if you like to sometimes tank and sometimes be extra firepower. I regularly act as one of the primary damage dealers in groups who use guardians as the main tank. So you can get a break from tanking if you don't like that all the time. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The downside is that you might suffer through an identity crisis through level 25 ... unfortunately until that point I didn't feel very unique or powerful compared to other fighter classes.</DIV>

<DIV>I am only lvl 29...almost 30. BUT I LOVE my zerker. It fits into my love of assisting fighter....I can tank when I need to, but I love just unloading on things, though my pally friend sometimes hates me cause he spends his entire power bar taunting the crap out of what we are fighting.</DIV>

Well, you guys persuaded me, I decided to go Berserker. It kind of makes the betrayal seem trivial, but oh do I love Freeport, and Dwarves rock too. Thanks everyone for your info, and I hope to enjoy the class as much as you all have. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>all signs point to hells yes. when i was a lvl 14 i had lvl 20 players ask me to join for MT. players seem to need zerkers just as much as they need clerics. it's a lot of fun being up front and in the mist of all the action. plus, in a lot of groups when one is MT, he or she ends up running the show and gaining a hell of a lot of respect with other players. so i say zerk on brotha:manmad:</DIV>

<DIV>In my opinion, versatility alone defines the zerker from all other tank classes. The tanking is on par with everyone else, grp haste and atk buffs make us a pretty good commidity, and that occasional secondary tank/dps option is viable since our dps output is very significant. This is definitely the most fun I've had playing a class.</DIV>

I have both a zerk and a Guardian in latter 20's and I have to say playing my Zerk is much more fun -- lots of damage from AOE and nice buffs for the group. My Guardian is a great tank too, but the skillset is more defensive...kinda boring. Though Guardians get "Slam" and "Bury", which do big damage...it's also funny to watch the mobs fall on their Faarbot when you hit them.I hear in the endgame, if you want to fight a ^^^ raid boss, then you want a Guardian tank, but so far, my Zerk holds hate just as well, if not better.
<DIV>Zerker is the way to go or at least it is for me, I have been playing mine since release and atm am almost 42. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I duel wield the PGT and The Ancient Mace of the Watchers, power is never an issue with the PGT equiped which on average gives me 600-1000 extra power a fight + the ward. I have always been and continue to be the MT for my guild, and tank yellows with ease as well as raid mobs and the such which is one of the few occations I pull out a shield. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My average DPS using current equipment is around 66-74 DPS which for any class is very high as I more often then not outdamage all other classes in my group. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Aggro is never an issue to maintain specially once you hit 40 and get Anarchy, in general I only taunt once and use Anarchy and will never lose aggro. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am sure you can tell I love my class and am having a blast playing it, we are unique from all other tanks with very few downsides as long as you have the right equipment and are prepaired for all situations.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Kurrath</DIV> <DIV>41 Berserker & Co-Leader of Misericordia</DIV> <DIV>Mistmoore</DIV>

<DIV>I've roled a Guardian, Pally, Monk and Berserker, in that order. My Berserker is what I wanted all along, Tanks well when doing the MT thing and does decent damage when duelwielding in the DPS role. I am happy with my Berserker at least to this point of the game. I deleted my Guardian and Pally before I made the Berserker. All my old friends complain about their classes and are in there 40s approaching 50. I reroled early on as often as I needed to find what I really enjoyed playing. My Berserker may only be L28 at the moment, but with all the reroles I've done that is pretty good. I still have my Monk who is L30, but only use him as DPS or to solo. His tanking days went down the drain with the agility nerf patch. I still have hopes (maybe false hopes) that they will fix the monk class some day. The only thing that bothers me about reroling is that you have to wait until the class is in the 20s before you can really get a feel for it. Many get this far and don't want to go through the early levels all over again. It would be kind of nice to put in a seperate Island at the beginning of the game where you can test and try every subclass at L25 before you go to the island of refuge. The whole problem was created with the Archtype, Class and Subclass system. You really never know what your going to get when you select an Archtype and Class you only get that knowledge after your Subclass choice made at L20. The choice to include this class building system by SOE has left a lot of unhappy people, many who have left for that other game because of it. SOE should have been honest upfront and told all it's potential clients that EQ2 was going to test all new ideas and that many of these ideas may be changed and or modified as the game progressed. This is not a 3rd generation game. SOE made a new 1st generation game predicated on all new ideas. It's as if they woke up one day and forgot everything and have to relearn it all over again. This is not altogether bad, but with the competition in MMORGs as intense as it's getting to be. It may have been highly unwise to completely do a brain dump and start over again with new ideas at this time. They should have made a truelly 3rd generation of the original EQ and dumped what was broken and kept what was successful. Can you imagine if EQ had started out with all items attunable. There wouldn't be this huge problem in the games economy today. EQ didn't need a lot of changes to flush out the bad. It just needed a re-release with some new mechanics and an overhaul of some of the classes. </DIV>

As soon as i first looked at the zerker class i knew i would love it. C'mon a sword-swing pyschopath with the armor to back it up...who wouldn't love it <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />.I have always loves tanking, give me a feeling that im doing something important in the group, but always hated the fact that my only real purpose was taunting. Though the Berzerker a person can both tank and deal critical blows to assist the group in killing the mobs faster. Believe me, when i dont do my abilities, it takes at least 1.5 times longer to kill something.

Then I ask them if they are drinking for power regen because I am usually 2-3 bubbles of power ahead of them. and Yes I mash my specials throughout the fight, feels like I am always waiting on recharge timers. </P> <P>Pallys seem to burn thru power alot faster than 'zerkers do.<BR></P>
