When examining Raging Strike, the upper description states...lowers damage while granting a slight chance to beserk. The lower description states...increase hate while granting a slight chance to beserk. Does anyone know what it truely does or which description is correct? I've been trying to test it and it doesn't seem to do much of anything noticable. Is this a worthwhile skill?

Laer

If anything, I'd trust the description on the bottom. Not sure which it really is, but the top description is more then likely from launch...while the bottom one, would be from the most recent patch.

as i posted in your other thread where you asked this:

Laereneth wrote:

Raging Strike.
Basically useless? Only effective if your a off tank? Hmmm, im starting to wonder Erick, have u happened to see the new description on Raging Strike, acually there not new description's there just letting us see RAW data of the combat art's and spell's to save everyone the heart ache of parser program's and parsing thousand's of mob's? Just in case you missed it :

Raging Strike Adept 1 :

Casts Berserk on caster. Promise of Violence is the same, it's a Taunt also, check the new description's, id much rather go off the new description then the old buggy description's from 4 mnth's ago. So using this combat art in a off tank postion would be bad, specially with a bad Guardian :smileywink:

Taemek Frozenberg 40th Berserker
16th Outfitter
Blood and Ice
Everfrost Server

Enlightened Aonein Amillion ( retired )
70th Stone Fist of The Celestial Fist
Five Rings on Luclin Server

Message Edited by -Aonein- on 02-25-2005 02:33 AM

Thank you for your response. You usually see red around the target when you taunt, shout, anger, enrage, taunting blow, etc. But I didn't see this effect with raging strike so I doubted the taunting factor of this skill. Was seeking clarification.

Laer

All I can say about Raging Strike for sure is that I have used it for a long time soloing ( mostly solo because I have to leave the comp spur of the moment alot), any chance I get between HOs because it seems to keep me berserk alot more and does damage. Hearing that it taunts is an extra bonus. Use it all the time at level 29.

Yes there is a taunt on that skill, but the power consumption for it, doesn't justify using this skill, if you are main tanking, you really dont want to be raging at all unless you use aggro..

but honestly, when i'm main tank, its pretty rare when i lose aggro... under that situation, then yes, by all means raging strike away...

as an off tank, if you let the main tank generate some aggro before using that, you should be fine, its one of the few skills that DOES allow us to rage without getting hit.

like all skills, you need to use your head before you just mash buttons, do you mash rage strike over and over as off tank.. no... but when main tanking, especially in a small group where theres less chance to lose aggro, the power consumption of this skill doesn't make sense, on top of that because of the increase damage you take when you rage, you really dont want this as well.

-Erick

Unbuffed im running close to 1800 power, how is this not worth casting for the power cost? That must mean you dont cast Mad Cry ethier cause of the power cost?

Im taking these skill's as they appear for the simple fact there data from the code of the spell's effect, what it say's on the very bottom of the spell's i trust more then what the Description of the spell state's that's for sure.

Taemek Frozenberg 40th Berserker
16th Outfitter
Blood and Ice
Everfrost Server

Enlightened Aonein Amillion ( retired )
70th Stone Fist of The Celestial Fist
Five Rings on Luclin Server

...on top of that because of the increase damage you take when you rage, you really dont want this as well.

That just isn't true. Rage does not make you take more damage! Without a doubt though not raging WILL make the fight last longer and WILL cause you to take more damage since the fight is lasting longer.

Erick, I took your challenge in another post now take mine. This is simple, just do this:

Fight 1 - Soldiers Stance/Reckless Stance only with non-berserk abilities and kill the monster. Then tell us how long the fight lasted and how much damage you took.

Fight 2 - Soldiers Stance/Reckless Stance with Focus Rage with berserk abilities and kill the monster. Then tell us how long the fight lasted and how much damage you took.

For any of you who are new to the class I swear to god it is this simple: You kill faster when you rage and therefore take less damage because the fight is shorter. It's just that simple.

Anyone who tells you otherwise is mistaken.
