View Full Version : Berserker Skills Take Too Many Concentration Slots
<DIV>I have noticed for some time, that many berserker skills are occupying lots of concentration slots.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>From my understanding, 1 concentration slot is to be meant to be occupied by 1 skill. </DIV> <DIV>Because there are only 5 slots available, this does make some sense.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am currently 31 berserker, and when I was main tank, I found that I couldn't buff myself during fight. This has led to several group wipeouts and I don't really feel comfortable about it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Usually when I tank, I cast:</DIV> <DIV>30.6 - Reckless Stance : Increases defense but reduces offense </DIV> <DIV>which is an upgrade to</DIV> <DIV>26 - Stifled Rage : Increases AC but reduces attack </DIV> <DIV>before fight.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>During fight, I casted<BR>30 - Weapon Shield : Parry skill buff </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The result is only to wonder why the system says I don't have enough concentrations slots and was beaten down eventually.</DIV> <DIV>It seems that each of these spells will take 3 concentration slots, and I have only 5 slots total.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The question is, if we can't use just only two skills together, why did the developer bother to design them?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Berserkers already have very limited self buff skills, and even these skills can be only used one at a time.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I see this as a very important issue for berserker subclass. I played several classes, and this is the first time that I saw some spells with 3 concentration slots. And this will still remain as a serious issue when berserkers reach higher levels, as higher level skills are just upgrades of basic skills.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If any developer see this and it is indeed a serious issue with berserkers, please fix it as soon as possible.</DIV> <DIV><BR> </DIV> <P>Message Edited by JBoot on <SPAN class=date_text>01-28-2005</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>07:56 AM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by JBoot on <span class=date_text>01-28-2005</span> <span class=time_text>08:04 AM</span>

The tank has to make a choice whether to use buff A or buff B. I kind of like having to react to the situation that i find myself in to determine what skills to use, rather than just using all buffs and skills with no strategy involved.</P> <P>I don't see why this is a problem as long as the class is balanced with the understanding that we won't have many self buffs active. The only issue is ensuring that no single skill outshines the others and that skills should have definite advantages and disadvantages.</P> <P><BR> </P>
<DIV>From my opinions, the fact that different skills have different number of concentration slots generates more problems than the benifits it brings to the game, if there exist any benifits at all.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>To let players make a decision on what skill to use, a limited number of 5 concentration slots is already enough.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>From another point, how do you justify that certain skills should occupy more slots than other skills? Besides, this kind of details bring more potential bugs to the whole system.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>From a system designer's view, a simple design is an optimized design. Another layer of code just doesn't help to simplify a large system as EQ II.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>From a player's view, there will be balance issues. How come my skills use multiple slots and his/her skills only use one slot? It's just creating problems, not solving them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
Weaponshield is only a 3 min buff with a long refresh... it needs to have its concentration slots removed... ( its not like recklace stance where it lasts 11 hours ) Strykr Destructicus37 Berserker
<DIV>Dont bother with weaponshield, reckless stance or stifled rage none of these skills stack. Just use soliders stance and havoc</DIV>
<DIV>I totally agree that the 3 concentration slots which Weaponshield is taking is just ridiculous.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Being only a 3 min buff with a long refresh time, it just becomes totally worthless in fight. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> <DIV>If any developer happens to read this, please remove Weaponshield's concentration slots.</DIV></DIV>

We have 5 conc slots, and using both of these would add up to 6 - as intended.</P> <P>My opinion is this;</P> <P>Use 'Soldier's Stance' when using a 1h and shield, and 'Weaponshield', when using a 2h <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> </P>
<DIV>You kidding me, right?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>How come an intended 8 or 11 hours long buff skill has only 3 minutes?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This bug can't be so huge.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV><p>Message Edited by JBoot on <span class=date_text>02-01-2005</span> <span class=time_text>08:01 AM</span>
