It does not factor into your avoidance.  It is linked to parry - if you successfully parry, you have a chance to also repost - ie do damange back to the mob when you avoid being hit, but it is not a seperate avoidance on its own.

A dev once said that 10% (or something like that) of parries are turned into ripostes...Short after EoF though while we were discussing Warrior Tree AA setups, a fellow guardian had more ripostes and the same parries with buckler (who has increased riposte chance) - so there is a chance the dev has been misinformed / the mechanics changed / the fellow guardian had a strange streak...<div></div>
