Sometimes I wonder if they even read spell lists when they make changes.Currently missed:Goading Gesture - The splitpaw taunt still apears to be mental based for all tanks.Inflaming Defense - Doesnt appear to use aggression, but is still resisted on some hits. I haven't been able to confirm any debuff / buff helps with the resistability of this taunt. The melee attacks use to-hit to land and not aggression. I'll assume this is by design, and happy to have them still based on melee skill, as they're generally more likely to land when upgraded. So, put your thinking caps back on and fix the missed taunts.

Vindictive Strike and Goading Assault don't raise the Aggresion skill (used over 100 times, no skill up in aggresion)

This leads me to assume they don't USE the aggresion skill.

So, what skill does the taunt portion use? Mental?

Also, Inflaming Defense does NOT raise the Aggresion skill either, further supporting the OP's point.

************************************************** ***********************

NM, just saw this from Lockeye in another post:

Any effects (taunts included) that follow a combat art attack are unresisted.
It seems that if the hate / Agression component is a SECONDARY effect, it doesn't level up ? I'm guessing... so a Strike that does damage 1st and generate hate Second - it will not level aggression ? And anything equates a "hate line" buff be tooo easy to level up aggression?

I went from 0-250 aggresion (lvl50 guard) in about 20 mins taunting the lvl10 stuff in caves... so leveling it is not a problem. I got a skill increase on every single taunt, so 350 taunts on any lvl mob will get ya there. Just pick a mob, turn your back on them and taunt. They last alot longer without an accidental riposte. If you have imbued gear you might wanna strip it, the proc'd damage can 1-shot the weak stuff and waste time.

The sucess of landing "damage+taunt" CA's rely 100% on your melee chance to hit. Aggression dosent affect the chance, so those CA's wont level it. The auto-aggro buff will always be based on % hit so that wont level it either.

I only had time to play for a few minutes before our Labs run last night and entered Labs with 60/350...Before we entered U.X. room, I was at 350/350I didn't notice an increase in landing taunts though, not parsed of course

Correct, the melee strikes are based upon the melee chance to hit, which makes sense. However, that doesn't cover my orriginal post.Goading Gesture - Spitpaw Taunt (levels with you), is single target taunt only and not aggression based. IE, they missed this one.Inflaming Defense - Seeing some resists on this and haven't found a debuff that seems to affect it. I'm questioning what the resist factor of this is. I suspect its also not on agression, can't nail down what if anything affects this resist.

Hmm, never seen the defense line taunt resisted myself. Since it's sucess was based on a proc % I didnt think it even was resistable, just like weapon procs. Atleast with weapons, read a dev saying the procs cannot be resisted because the % was the only balance they wanted for chance to land. Figured all procs worked off that same idea.

As for the splitpaw taunt, I dont have it personally but sounds like they definitly missed it from your description.

Alot of /bugs or an email to the right person will get it looked at asap.

You have never seen the following white text in your combat box?

Honestly no, but then again...

1) My guard is still young @ lvl50.
2) I've always managed to snag the M1 reactive aggro buff. (necessary IMO for multi-encounter)
3) I just picked the new M2 reacive aggro here recently.

I'm guessing the mobs I've been grinding wernt anything special either, which caused lack of taunt resists.

Anyways, I guess SoE needs to have +agression modify the sucess chance.

I never much used the splitpaw taunt so no comment there, but the reactive taunts leave me with several questions:1. When I leveled up aggression, I never once got a skillup from inflaming defense (M1). Does this mean it does not depend on the aggression skill?2. If it does not use the aggression skill, and it does follow a 'hit', shouldn't it be unresistable?3. If it is not unresistable (and I have seen resists before), what is the resistability based on since it obviously doesn't affect aggression?

It is on the same timer as your normal single target taunt, so is not a great help. It is a level 20 CA but scales. It has a chance (10% iirc) of generating double hate. You can only buy it if you have earned the trust of the Splitpaw gnolls, but it is cheap. It is sold by the mender in the den. Whether it is worth using depends on your level and how much you have upgraded the normal taunt.

If you don't have the Confront M1 ( or master1 single target taunt), then the splitpaw taunt parses out to more hate, its about the same as the M1 (if you don't count resistability). The Adept3 Single target taunt is about 5% higher in hate than the splitpaw taunt, however the SP taunt has a 10% chance of douple hitting. Parsed out over time, more hate is generated by the SP taunt than the adept3 taunt. Even factoring in resistability differences, the SP taunt came out higher than A3, and this meant you could skip spending a rare on this taunt. However, since they missed this on the agression revamp, its no longer viable. On a side note, does anyone else feel agro was better before aggression? Let me explain. Previously I was getting lots of resists, however when it wasn't resisted, the taunt landed and I held agro. Previously it was a battle of getting taunts to land. With aggression, I seem to land taunts that are not effective. I've seen where I land a taunt, gain agro, and the very next swing from a berzerker takes the agro away, I taunt again, the next swing breaks it again, etc. With the changes I'm having much more trouble gauging my relative agro on a mob. Here's another example:We did labs lastnight and on the first Alzid named, I pulled and tanked the named for about 8 mins while the adds were killed. I was firing taunts the entire time. The EXACT moment dps switched to the mob I lost agro. This is insane, 8 minutes of hate built on the mob doesn't hold agro from dps for 5 seconds? And our dps is weak in comparison to others. I landed atleast 20 taunts on this mob before DPS hit it, I should not have instantly lost agro.I then fired Rescue, got it back for about .2 seconds before it switched again. Then I used reinforcement and watched with each swing I took and lost agro, was a very humorous, yet sad experience. I was set up with assassin hate transference, no dirge or coercer on this run.

Not trying to call anyone a lair, but theres no way anyone should be able to pull a mob from a Guard who's been building 8 mins of aggro practically alone (aoe's aside). So unless that first named memwipes (didnt think he did) and you didnt notice when your alone on the mob, then the aggro loss was a bug/freak occurance.

Definitly not a problem with aggression or the current system.

8 minutes of a Guard DPS+taunts would give you roughly a 200,000 hatepoint advantage on the raid (if 400 hate-per-second * 60 * and thats a low-end asumption. Many guards can generate as much as 1500+ hate-per-second depending on AA's and group setup.

Maybe I'm missing a mechanic as the hate list was never explained in full detail. To me it seems like that mob memwiped on you or something happened you didnt mention or notice... example: someone wasnt assisting on the adds and was on named for those 8 mins along with you.

A good question, was the assasin on the named with you? If he was on the adds then the hate he gave you was from the adds. If you only have an assasin to pad you hate, then have him assist you directly to help build hate on whatever your targeting.

The assassin started out on my target, miracled, over agro'd died, came back and assisted on adds. Maybe it wasn't 8 mins, but it was atleast 5....Anyway, I've not isolated the problem yet, but its something in the ordering of hate transferance spells that negates some transfers. The next time I was in zone, had no problems with almost same config. In several other zones, both group and raid I've had the problem happen again. Most recently we wiped all agro buffs and re-applied in order wiz, scout, fighter, then dirge/coercer, and all was good again. We didn't change the targets of any of these buffs, just the order in which they were recast. There is some stacking / timing bug out there thats hit me 4-5 times now. We might eventually isolate what class is causing it now that we've got an idea what to watch for.
