My guild has been using Pally / Zerker MT's but with the changes we want to look at Guardian as a valid MT.As such, I'm shelving my 70 Swash for my 70 Guard alt.I'm not up on MT configs, especially with the changes. And I have some doubts / questions.First off he's T6 Fabled with some T7 legendary slots. I know gear upgrades are needed, but don't think I can broker anything better than what he has. 1. Should I buy up the stat bonus jewelry items or go with the mitigation jewelry stuff?2. Should I be tanking with a buckler and swapping out towers for Tower of Stone casts? Or stay with Tower Shields for the fights?3. What would you call the 5 most important M1's?4. Warrior AA Going WIS and STA, is this still best route post EoF? Hate isn't generally an issue, but mitigation is...5. Is there a preference in weapon dammage type? I went spear cause I started AGI/STA.Appreciate any advice or recommendations you might have.

Have you started your claymore quests series yet? There are some nice rewards towards the end of the quest line. I've scored several very nice Guardian pieces from Hof named over the last couple months, shoulders, boots and a nice buckler drop from the named there, but they are No Drop. The Poa dragons drop some very nice Legendary plate gear and the named snake drops a good buckler. With the expansion out and old raid locations like Labs no longer easy pickens, try the new eof instances, some have very nice stuff. A couple of the instances are nest like in length and can be done in less then 2 hours, bring a full group with a couple healers tho because the mobs hit like a truck. How many AA's do you have? Until you get over 12 aa's into the wisdom line and score the mit, the line is kinda weak. If you can afford them or craft several adornments are must haves, the 400hp shoulder adornment comes to mind.

Depends how hard your fights are - but if I read 4.) go STR and WIS3. Steadfast Stance, Command, Wall of Force, Vindictive Strike, Confront, Inflaming Defense, Goading Assault (Protection Master II choice).4. WIS is still unbeaten imo. Even with diminishing returns. After WIS, you could go STR, INT or AGI. Personally I like STR very much (still stuck on STA myself), but considering INT as well when I respecc.5. Nope. Use the best weapon you have.

Message Edited by Sir_Halbarad on 11-20-2006 05:55 PM

Sta/wis is certainly nice for downtime fighting, since generally heroics dont require a tower shield and the extra DPS is nice. I know I'm in the minority these days but I still swear by the final ability in the Agility AA line. I have avoided numerous wipes with the ability (sometimes it's not saving myself but giving the healers time to heal others, or repositioning a large mob and having to run out of heal range), and have NEVER lost agro. I have a macro when I use it, and everyone is careful not to peel.

I doubt that its really worth trying to track down the M1 of Steadfast Stance as now all qualities provide the same level of (physical mitigation) 15% (yeah don't laugh even the apprentice 1 ...) yeah you will get a few more points of defense/parry but I would not put it on the list of need to get masters post LU13#2.

I'm a bit curious why all the interest in the STR line. Reading it, it seems mostly dps focused, something that I don't see being an issue. To me the obvious choices are AGI or INT. AGI has the increased defense line, and INT has the incresed Parry. I've not parsed out if one has more effect than other as I think the Defense is around 1.8 per tick and the parry is closer to 2.1 per tick.I'm certainly finding Defense in general easier to raise, but I was hoping someone had already done the parse to determine which defensive AA line has more impact to dammage taken.I notice so much focus on hate here, but I've found that to be more a coercer / dirge / swash concern in a raid party. One of the most common tank mistakes I see, is they use a moderate line on a scout class that has an agro transference buff. This only cripples both you and the scout. I find when I don't have a coercer, I use both a dirge and swash in the group. Providing the swash has his M1 hate transfer, I have him fire taunts while he fights since I'm getting 31% of his taunt. On rare occasion the swash pulls hate, but he can instantly drop it, so generally its not an issue. Its not as good as the coercer buffs, but it works. I save the moderate for the shaman type class who is throwing encounter debuffs early and often.----------------------Also, I hope everyone is doing OOB instance run. Its fast and easy, and the Boots for the guardian armor set dropped there last night. I don't have the link, but it was an awesome upgrade for me. Also the final named dropped a priest /mage / knight ring that was pretty [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] good +30 stats 125power, and a proc.

Also, is there a place that inflamming defense M1 is known to drop?I've not had luck finding this on the brokers ever, and would seem to me to be one of if not the most important taunt to have.ThanksYIm

I have been seriously thinking about the agil, wis lines for the mitigation and defense again. As I have read on other boards, seems like defense is going to be much more valuable.

I havn't actually tried Agi line to see how much of a difference defence makes, but as of now, I'm Strength and Wisdom, although considering dropping Wisdom line when i get some DT plate. Mitigation over 5K is almost negligible, and I find that because taunts are being resisted more, aggro has become more of an issue.

For the longest while, I had Sta/Wis, but then changed to Int/Wis. The haste was great, but I find that permanent aggro gain, and more importantly, higher chance of crits wins out. The crit chance affects all the combat arts you do, and if you're fortunate enough to have a fabled axe, Executioner's Wrath timed with your big hits (Obliterate --> Flay --> Retaliation Strike --> Precise Strike) can really make aggro solid at the beginning of a fight.

If I'm comfortable, I might drop Stamina and go down either Agility or Intelligence. Really not sure at the moment.

Message Edited by Tyrion on 11-21-2006 11:03 AM

I went down agi and int for the +def and +parry.

Only needed 4 points in the parry ability to hit the new parry cap in a MT group. However, needed all 8 points in defense and I'm still slightly below the cap. As I get more EOF gear, eventually I'll be able to respec and drop some of the defense. Right now I have all the extra points in sta and agility.

The 0.4% mitigation improvement I was getting from wisdom line wasn't worth it. Hate can be an issue for sure though -- even with a dirge + coercer in the MT group I can still lose aggro on a lot of fights. However, I expect this problem to be mitigated by some additional EOF gear that I've yet to obtain -- as most of my raids dps has gone up from adornments that I can't use (well I use the block adornments as opposed to the +dps mods) at the same time as my hate going down (losing about 40% of my dps).

All in all, I'm pretty happy with my tanking ability specc'd this way. I hit just shy of 70% avoid with 3 block adornments, nearly 700 agility, max parry, and 4 pts shy of max defense. And running at ~70% mitigation as well.

Where are you getting the numbers for the new stat caps?

I also just respected for Agil+Int line, but put 8 into my parry, I have 18% parry with DR Vambraces. I also placed 8 into Sta and the last into Agil. My guild has bought some +14 Agil , +400 health x2 150 Health, adornments and Ripostle for my gear. We also agree that Wis line Mit spec with diminishing returns really isnt worth the points.

We are going to test this respec out tonight in Freethinkers.

I would really appreciate a link to current stat caps if you know of one. Thanks.

Message Edited by Kreagan De'Unerro on 11-22-2006 01:27 PM

Really tough to get past that as diminishing returns are pretty significant now.

I'm Currently AGI / WIS. But I'm considering dumping wis for int to pick up parry. What I gained going to AGI is noticable, and if I can make similar advances with INT, I think it will be worth it.I think taunts are broken in general and hoping Dev's fix it. I think taunts are making a mental check that we don't have disruption skill to up the success on. If taunts were changed to use something reasonable like maybe our equiped weapon skill, things start to get reasonable agian.I find strategic use of plant now that it works on epics to be a bug help. Also, to answer my own question. Inflaming Defense M1 dropped off Fire Witch in Court this weekend while we were grinding some guild xp.
