I have played a ton of classes, then i got married and my wife wanted to play everquest 2 with me as well.Because of this i started a guardian, and she a mystic. After playing a guardian to level 52 i can say beyond a shadow of a doubt i was destined to play this class. It is by far the most of everything to me.Because we started fresh on a new server with some RL friends we met, i have been able to afford adept 3s and mastercrafted armor and legendary stuff up to this point, its very expensive now and i am worried i will no longer be able to be the best tank i can because of gear dependancies. I feel i play the class well, and i would not enjoy being held back by the current state of the economy. I am looking for advice from other guardians out there who do not buy plat who have found efficient means by which to supply with. Also because this is my first plate class in t6 i have no idea where to go for decent armor drops, not the uber stuff, but the items that are a staple to the hard working player. Unfortunately i dont have huge amounts of time but i can invest a couple hours 3 nights a week and saturdays mostly to hunt for better gear as i am noticing mastercrafted in t6 is not giving me huge leaps in tanking ability. Right now its hard on us because my skills are the only thing really workin in our favor. Please help me with advice on where to go with normal groups in this tier to upgrade armor so that i can relax just a little. Please guys i just want to keep being an awesome tank for my wife.

<DIV>Honestly, tier 6 crafted isnt too bad. I would go witht that for now.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As for the plat to get upgrades...Make a tradeskiller or kill.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In tier 7 if you kill non-stop you will make a TON of plat just from vendor selleable items. As I am sure you have noticed those who have more time, have more stuff...EQ is a time sink, the more time you put in to it, the more you will get out of it. It would really upset me if someone who has 2-3 days a week to play 1-2 hours had compareable gear to mine or even close. I think the biggest problem with EQ2 since Tier 6 is just that. In tier 5 it was amazing to see a master chest drop, now If I dont see one bling across guild chat every hour people start complaining.....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>All-in-all I would say, KILL KILL KILL and you will get what you are seeking eventually. Also an invaluable tool is this very web site. Do a search for "characters" and inspect their gear, head over to eq2.ogaming.com to see where the item drops or what quest it comes from and hit the ground running. Definetly plan your gear or else you will end up running in cirlces constantly upgrading the same slots. </DIV>

<P>Yup pretty much every tier you will feel your hard earned cash dwindle away. But the money is always well spent.</P> <P>As for making cash. I've made most of mine selling harvested rares and adventuring. I'm nowhere near being rich, and rarely can afford the crazy prices on the broker for rare crafted armor. Of course I'm not focusing on making money right now.</P> <P>Good Luck and Happy Hunting.</P>

<P>T7 prices for master crafted items are the cheapest of nearly all the tiers on Mistmoore... don't know what makes xegonite so plentiful but I bought all my xegonites for under 50g each and had a crafter make the pieces for me, he only charged the fuel cost. It seems most all mastercrafted xegonite pieces are generally around the 50 to 75 gold mark.</P> <P>The real cost is not the armor and weapons... but the masters and adept 3's.... when you reach your 60s you will want every ability to be an adept3 or master.</P> <P> </P>

<DIV>There is good gear for casual players in T7, and if you don´t plan to raid and play mostly in group or duo ... then you don´t need (!!!) fabled gear. If you are lucky and listen to the auction channels on your server you might also see a few "tradeable" fabled items for sell. These items are mostly not realy usefull for "end game raiders" but very nice for casual gamers. T6 is awful ... just get yourself a cobald armor and a good cobald weapon + shield and grind yourself to lvl 62+ .... t7 is much much much better for legendary droped gear then t6.</DIV>

<P>Ive probably easily spent 800pp on gearing my guardian. Most other classes you can gear up for pennies. How do I know? Well I've geared up a monk, a templar, and an illusionist. No class is more gear dependant than a guadian.</P> <P>Btw I'm now gearing up a defiler, who is currently level 62, gearing him up is so cheap it ain't even funny.</P>

<DIV>guardian is a horrible class to gear.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>when you hit t7, there are several good quests to get your gear up. thinking of claymore-questline, where non-raider sure will get some good updates.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>you will have to make a decision whats more important for you. gear or spells. guardian still is a gear-class, so you probably will spend your money in armor first, and second in spells.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>allways check both brokers, Qeynos and FP. huge differences in some items. try to do as much instances as possible. nest woudl be tankable at 64 or 65 if you are medium geared.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>gear will come to you as you progress in kos. spells will be much harder to get. but even if you are a "casual gamer" with less time, it only would take you longer to get your gear. as far as i can tell on my server, t7 gear becomes cheaper every day, cause more of it gets into brokers.</DIV> <DIV>problem on my server nowadays is t6... </DIV>
<P>Completely agree. </P> <P>I would only add to the crazy to gear list our other meatbags the Zerks. I am convinced its a warrior issue not so much a guardian issue. </P> <P> </P> <P>Raghe</P>

<P>"Please guys i just want to keep being an awesome tank for my wife. "</P> <P>Betray to a zerker :smileytongue:</P> <P>Seriously though. I am in the same situation where I am my wife's tank. Actually not at the present since we need to get a new system. But to gear out my zerker I get her to play on her conjie and brig and make plat and I steal her money and buy stuff off the broker! So my suggestion is to get a sugar momma, and not just one, the more the merrier!</P> <P>Meatshield Wonderwall (Guild leader of Fidelis), The Bazaar Server</P> <P>P.S. You want to be the best tank? Until you reach T7 it's more about developing your skill as a tank then getting your gear up. Making sure the mobs backs are to the rest of the group, controlling adds and not pulling too much and sweet jesus keep aggro. The gear will come as you play, just develop your skill and keep the mobs off of the rest of the group and the rewards will come.</P> <P>Be safe all! Faith be with you!</P>
