<DIV>I'm a level 70 Guardian. My gear is pretty poor but I have most of the Claymore Stuff and some odds and ends. I have powerleveld my wife a Conjour since she's enjoying it and I have nothing else I want to do in EQ2 other than enjoy time with my wife and friends. She hit 55 the other day and I wanted to do Poets Palace with her and try and get a Master chest or 4 for her and work on my last couple of AA"s for me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Things went very easy and we cleared everything up to the cyclopse room. We moved all the statues and got the named Cyclopses to spawn. I was Defensive buffed with my shield and 1HS on and had a mitigation of 4800ish (without any 30 second buffs) with crush resist being my highest at 61%. And I was aroun 7K HP or so. I pulled the named cyclopse with a mitigation reduction doll to help my wifes pet hit it better and did my taunt, shield bash, debuff attacks cycle I always use on named. After that I looked up and was half dead so I did my 30 mitigation buff. I died shortly and my wife died in one hit after me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I figured my resists were crap and they guy blasted me down or something so I went to my combat spam window to check it out. Turns out the guy hit me almost every single time he attacked for crush damage and hit for right at 700-800 per hit with a special for 1440 mixed in. He destroied me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So, a green named can wipe me out like that? Am I missing something here? I saw other people post about Poets Palace doing it solo except for the last named. I assumed without raid gear my wife and I could duo the first two floors atleast.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anybody have any comments?</DIV>

That mob hits very hard, without a healer you wanna just root it and nuke it., tho with your wife at 55 i am guessing she would struggle to make her roots stick often enough. You can definatly burn it down if u have a tank and 1 x dps at 70 but at 55 your wife would put out far too low dps (because of the con of the mob) for you to last long enough. The rest of the named in there apart from the keeper are far easier if u are 70.<p>Message Edited by Illustrious on <span class=date_text>10-18-2006</span> <span class=time_text>11:22 AM</span>

Yes this mob is very bad, I dont think you can do it without heals. When I duo it with my fury, i go full DPS, and max out my vs magic/mental (not sure on this, but its the only one which I suck at, so i figured it must be that which killed me). <div></div>

<DIV>That name is tough. It has been a long time since I have been in PP, but I remember that name being the second hardest in the whole zone. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For the situation you described I would say that avoidance is better than mit. I would use the strategy of maxing your avoidance to try and get to the point that the mob can no longer hit you with any melee attacks. In my experience, there seems to be some magic point where your avoidence gets just high enough that green mobs can suddenly no longer hit you. In other words, your high avoidance "greys out" the mob. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So, try again using gear and potions that increase your avoidance, even at the expense of mit and dps. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You could also try pulling with the hex doll that debuffs attack speed rather than mit. This would lower your incoming damage a little. And as always, be sure to use Tower of Stone and Stone Sphere (if no AoE's) for the stoneskin procs. </DIV>

(5400 mitigation for this fight)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I wear 3 seperate healing items , carry grandmasters healing potions , guild lvl 50 status items (eg a 1000 hp 1 shot heal)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>on top of that the cyclops is the 2nd hardest mob in the zone !</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I suspect if you keep trying you will beat him , certainly with 2 of you. (oh and you will not be able to beat the keeper unless you can cure/block the stun) </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>edited forget that a 55 is no real use against a 63.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I do not generally solo this zone as it takes forever to do the 3rd floor <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> i usually have a warlock to duo with and im down to about 40 mins only pausing to have an occasional solo crack at the keeper.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV><p>Message Edited by Domiuk on <span class=date_text>10-19-2006</span> <span class=time_text>03:45 AM</span>

You lost to a heroic green named only 7 levels lower than you when effectively solo. Why are you surprised? Solo I have only ever beaten 1 heroic green named only 7 levels lower than me and he was only a ^^. The only ^^^ ones have been 10 levels lower. I have master crafted or better armour, a fabled weapon from a tier lower and a legendary shield from 2 tiers down (next on my list to upgrade). <div></div>

<DIV>I haven't tanked that guy since T6 so I'm gonna have to go back and see if he gives me trouble. I've been able to solo a couple of the nameds in PoA, Emnity being one of them. Just have to think about what kind of damage the mob is going to be doing to you and set up your gear to prepare for it.</DIV>

Your other partner was low for this fight so you were effectively solo. Had she been playing a healer at the saem level I'd call you a duo, but like someone above said, in this situation you are essentially solo. Pre-level 70 I found my guardian had a hard time soloing any triple up nameds unless they were 10 levels lower than me which is just 1 level above grey.If you want to try again at the same level, I suggest bringing along a friend or two to help. I do think that is what it's going to take. Guardians aren't the best soloers of the fighter classes. They can do okay but they do even better with a healer and a dps class with them.<div></div>

<DIV>i duo him with my 70 assassin usually pull with a mit hex doll then hit tower of stone after start laying into on my assassin, and throw out taunts and big hits debuffs but my guards around 69% solo mit about 55% avoid, he does hit very hard and prob 1 out of 5 times kills me. Without a healer its a full fast burn fight, honestly though i sometimes find the snakes harder due to divine and it being hard as a guard to get resist for that.</DIV>

<DIV>I am a full fabled Guardian and he would kill me in less then a minute without a healer... don´t try this guy solo. He hits hard and also has a trauma dot. The dot ticks very hard if its not cured fast. This IS the hardest mob now in PP at lvl 70 ! The keeper is easier. </DIV>
Its like blademaster thul in clefts.. he hits as an epic.<div></div>

<P>If it's possible to kite inside PP (haven't been there myself I'm afraid) Have your wife use frigid winds on him (slows 75%) and start casting spells and dumbfires while you run around as close as you can to get taunts in. Run in whenever he gets stunned and get some CA's off (probably only 1-2 with the stun nerfs).</P> <P>That may work, but it all depends on whether or not you're able to run around a bit.</P>

<DIV>i started doing PP a week ago and found that out myself, using tank med gear and an illu - first try was whipe. but like many said before, try to debuff him use tower of stone and sentry sphere(that one with stoneskin proc) after TOS, and he should lay down.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>i usually end fight with 10% hp's left, try maybe getting HP reg potion, the T6 rare are better than t7 common and mostly cheaper on broker due to ppl leveling on rares.</DIV>
Named mobs get bonuses to attacks, spells, etc. Helps prevent farming.
