I am a level 70 berserker. I have no particular attachment to my skills(they are all however adept 3) so I am thinking about betraying to Guardian to start raiding. Here is my current gear set up: Charm: 14 STA hex doll x2 Chest: Awakened Scalelord breastplate and Cuirass of Protection (Cuirass when tanking) Ears: Pristine Fashioned Acryllia Hoop Feet: Awakened Scalelord Sabatons Forarms: Awakened Scalelord Wristguards Hands: Awakened Scalelord Guantlets and Chitin Plated Guantlets (toss up usually wear scalelord) Head: Awakened Scalelord Helm and Mask of Irolesk Legs: Awakened Scalelord Legplates and Pristine Imbued Xegonite Vanguard Greaves ( usually wear Scalelord when tanking) Neck: Pristine fashioned Acryllia torque Main Hand: Brakzar's Cleaver Shield: Kite Shield of the Seeing Ranged Weapon: Bow of Firvanious Fury Ring: Light Chitin Ring X2 and Dark Chiting Rinx X2 ( light when tanking dark when soloing) Shoulders: Awakened Scalelord Pauldrons Waist: Pristine Fashioned Acryllia Girdle Wrist: Pristine Fashioned Acryllia Bangle Ok , I have spent endless hours collecting my gear without raiding. I have always considered myself to be a casual player and thus tried to stay away from raiding. However, I have recently decided that I want to be a tank. I dont have to be the best tank , but I want to ( Im sure some of you know what im saying). However I dont want to [Removed for Content] myself for soloing and farming as I do. As a zerker I like to farm poets pallace solo , Can guardians do that? I know that as a zerker I can tank POA , Hall of Fate , AoA X2 , and Nizzara - I know as a guardian my tanking ability can only get better. So my question is , Would you recomend betraying to tank raids or will my ability to tank x4 mobs be relativly close as a guardian and a zerker? ( Note , I will buy my CAs and such adept 3 if I betray) This is posted in both guard and zerk forums.
Message Edited by UzumakiNarut0 on 10-07-2006 12:47 PM

Message Edited by UzumakiNarut0 on 10-07-2006 03:06 PM

You will do fine with that gear, it's a great starter set to upgrade from. The jewels could use some work though as previously mentioned. As far an the betrayal. I did the same thing, about 2 months ago or so I betrayed a 70 Zerk to Guard. There is fights in a raid setting where Zerker AE aggro can be preferred, but Tower of Stone will keep you from taking a lot of incoming AE's and spike damage. In general, I would not bother with the switch unless your guild lacks a dedicated Guardian, and has another Zerker.

Hmmm your resistence gear is not the best, your healers will have much to do, until you get better resis gear. But for the beginning it should be ok. And like somebody mentioned ... yes make the claymore quests. You need to gear up a little bit before you should try harder target. I would suggest Labor of Lord Vyemm, maybe the first named in Lyceum and try to get a fabled weapon.

Upgrade your spells to a least adept 3, but better get master spells. Get Grisslefazzles Towershield (or something like that ..hrhr ), and at least 7 xegonite Towershields. Until you get better gear, you should pull with "tower of stone" on you... and after 3 hits on your xegonite shield switch back to the grizzlefzzel Tower shield. Later on you won´t need so much shields any more.

Stonie Immerdurst

Tears of Luclin (Innovation)

Depends on the raid. (if your tanking deffently need better gear). If your not it really depends on the mob. You need to have high resists for certain mobs. (But you can get thouse up pretty nicely with the 3 set of jewlery (1 neck, 1 ear, 2 ring) each do like 750 or someting like that to 2 reists. I keep a set of all 3. (The rare one give higher amount to resists, but not worth it as you should reach the resists cap fairly easly).Though with the reists cap being increased in the next expation it may be worth it

Betraying to a guard is probably not really worth it (Tower of Stone and 650ish HPs vs aggro god).As for would you survive? form a group with your guild templar + defiler + knight (for AC buff) as a raid tank what really matters (as far as survivability goes mostly) is your raid buffed stats. Aim for around 6.4-6.5k physical mitigation vs the specific damage type(s) and as many hitpoints as possible a custom persona window such as the Ariobeth Enhanced Persona window can help a lot with this.

Message Edited by Khurghan on 10-08-2006 09:22 AM

You'll be fine with that as starter gear. I cant' stress how important claymore jewelry items are at the moment, as you gain a ton of mitigation just from the belt and earring. Relic/Doomrage comes in abundance in Labs, so I suggest that be your primary raid for gearing up. You'll get the most drops, and the mobs within are not so much about damage and healing as they are about dealing wtih AoEs and mem-wipes.

Lyceum on the other hand requires a reasonably well-equipped tank, good healing, and some form of power regen. The mobs hit hard, and have a ton of HPs.

HoS I'd say is somewhere in between both, also representing a good challenge to a raid force gearing up.

In the end, just raid consistantly and more than once a week if you want to see some real progress in raid progression and equipment. Most importantly, ensure you're having fun while you're at it!

As mentioned many times allready, the Claymore questline will help out a LOT with mitigation, which is what you lack with this gear. Most tanks in t7 started tanking raids in that kind of gear untill they got more [Removed for Content] out (I know I did). I'd say you should try with easier raids such as Vyemms lab, Lyceum, get some relic gear and some more decent untill you can get the true fabled for tier 7.

Your current gear is good enough to start, but not for long after the start

So you have to deal with the philosphers, but the shoulders you get are basically as good as relic. Better in a lot of situations. The leggings you get after that are nice too until you get relic or better.

Incidentally, relic isn't the best gear in the game. Wabit has tanked a lot more epic mobs than I have, and he has stated that you can pretty much tank anything in the game wearing it, so I'll take his word on it

I haven't personally felt that my gear was the limiting factor in my raid's success since I was full legendary or better, with all the claymore gear. I've seen guys in less tank just fine when I was busy being dead. Your milage may vary.

Snorm -- 70 Guard

I certainly got Vilucidae and Vyemm in legendary armour, though i had pretty much the best legendary armour you could get.

However its the resists you fall over with i could get 5200 mitigation in my old gear but my resists sucked and raising them to significant levels

really dumped that mitigation.

So basically i could take the melee damage but oh did i learn quickly to hate mobs that fear, stun etc
