Hello, I am rather new to EQ2 (still my initial week, maybe 5th day or so), but I consider myself rather experienced with MMORPGs generally (DAoC, WoW, RF Online, DnL, etc of some latest games I've played). I've worked my way as guardian to my 18h season, and like most of us newbies, I find guardian quite useless in solo (or less important in group) PvP. Due to my odd working hours I end up soloing a lot, and losing practically each PvP encounter I come across. Basicly the situation is that 4 levels lower Scout easily keels me. I've crafted/found myself combat arts to App IV and to Adept something. My gear isn't twinked, but nor have I got any grey pieces. I am quite determined and haven't re-rolled a single char before my first toon has reached the level gap in the other games, and propably not going to do now either. Just wondering if the PvP is same at higher levels? Are we gimped? All I basicly see in Antonica are Scouts - just wondering. PS. Sorry for my bad engrish, odd works hours. <div></div>

Guardians are pretty awful solo pvp. If you know how to play, you can win 1v1 a good deal of the time (we're strong against scouts, some mages), but you'll <strike>often </strike>always find yourself losing to healers, paladins, wizards are a close call, brigands/swashes are usually rough fights. In groups our buffs are very useful, are taunts are unmatched and we generally make it very hard to get through to the healer. But if you want to do 1v1 pvp as a fighter, make a monk or bruiser. <div></div>

<P>Im probably the best equiped Guardian on Venekor, so my view is somewhat different. With maxed level, master/ad3s and legnedary/fabled gear, Im pretty formidable in both solo and group PvP. Different encounters and groups require different setups, but just last night I was able to solo some mages, a monk, and came darn close to soloing a fury. </P> <P>Alot depends on your gear and your personal ability, but soloing as a guardian does get easier, especially against Wizards. Our defensive stance adds quite a bit of heat resist, and at 70, Wizards are just an easy kill as long as you've upgraded your stance.</P>

<DIV><3 guardians. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Intercept skills and taunts = win.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You will have groups banging your door down once they experience sustain + moderate + unyielding vigilance + stonesphere + intercede + sentywatch + reinforcement. Your group will just not die before you... ever. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I highly recommend stamina line 4 8 8 8 plus whatever you fancy. This will help you detonate melee classes easily solo and add many extra hits in group combat situations to bring down those reactives and wards and allow your dps to finish the job on their targets.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Docimodo on <span class=date_text>07-15-2006</span> <span class=time_text>05:54 PM</span>

Yes we can solo, and yes we can actually fight 1 on 1 in PvP and win, but Guardians are so much better in groups that you are not utilizing the main benefits of the class. The good thing about Guardians solo in PvP is that when properly equipped we can really take a hit..a lot of hits actully and still be standing. The down side is that we just don't do enough damage, don't have enough stuns or knockdowns to keep our opponents off balance, and we rarely if ever get to see the enemy coming because we have no track. You're much better off with a Brigand or Assassin for solo (or Swash/Ranger Qeynos side), or a pet-class mage or Fury. <p>Message Edited by Oneira on <span class=date_text>07-16-2006</span> <span class=time_text>10:56 PM</span>

I'm the 4th ranked guardian on the Naggy server in pvp which is basicly saying I pvp alot <span>:smileyvery-happy:</span> First you need to decide what your wanting to do and if you have the ability to do it. Solo PVP I would not suggest a guardian, your in the bottom tiers even with the buckler line of classes out there. You'll find yourself loosing to most healers, most mages, most scouts, most other tanks. In group settings we beat out every other tank for pvping. We hold aggro bar none, we can protect our party members the best and with the buckler line we generally put out about in the middle of the DPSers (all parses I've ever seen ran usually has me in about the middle of the group set up) So in the end I would not suggest a guardian for solo pvp, I also would not suggest a guardian for group pvp unless you have a strong pool to pull from and therefore find yourself with a good group often. <div></div>
