<DIV>I returned to EQ2 a couple of weeks ago after been playing WoW for about 1 year. And one thing i really find strange is that special attacks/spell's doesnt seem to care about the weapon you wield.</DIV> <DIV>I mean if you use "slam" on a foe, wielding 1h + shield or a 2 hander, that "slam" spell still do the same amount of damage right?</DIV> <DIV>In that case, i dont really see a big benefit in using 2hander instead of 1h + shield. This is mostly regarding solo play, as i know, i should always use a 1h + shield when in a group.</DIV> <DIV>So, tell me, is there a benefit in using a 2hander instead of a 1h + shield when soloing ?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Becuase your auto-attack will hurt a whole lot more, auto-attack is important, but this is a thing you have to decide on since you will lose the protection of a shield</DIV>

Also one key element I learned while soloing is that Offense, Offense, Offense. I learned that from another post and after I made the switch, soloing became much easier. You don't need to have a shield or be defensive when soloing. The more DPS you can do the better.

I used to use offensive stance and either a 2 hander or more often 2 dual wield weapons for soloing rather than a one hander and shield. Since I've progressed down my AA lines I usually use my one hander crush for belly smash along with a buckler for buckler reversal. It works great for solo, and it's not bad in group either but does require alot of AA points.A younger guardian will likely get their most damage from 2 dual wield weapons or one really good 2 hander. Cranking out the most damage you can is very helpful for soloing. Grouping and being a MT usually means pull out a one hander and shield, depending one what you're fighting. It tends to save the healer some mana, and gives you access to a decent shield attack. In a duo or trio you may be better off forgoing the shield if you're small group is short on dps.As always, to each their own, but often in group if you don't have a shield you'll be getting some negative responses from your group. At the very least, have one in your inventory. Sometimes it is necessary. I carry around alot of equipment which allows me to be more flexibleto meet my and my groups needs.<div></div>

<DIV>Thanks fpr the response.</DIV> <DIV>Guess i'll go with dual wield and swap to 1h + buckler when i've got some more AA's to use in the AA stamina line.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
