<div></div>Shrug thats 2c to repair ironwood. I have fabled shields.. why would i LOWER my avoid, so I can use and break a crappy shield, then switch back? Sure it may absorb 3 hits, but I may get hit 3 more times from having a crappier shield.. then where was the net gain? From looking at you 99% sure I have tanked more end game raid mobs then you ;p But feel free to tell me how to play my class and look like an idiot. <div></div><p>Message Edited by TunaBoo on <span class=date_text>11-29-2005</span> <span class=time_text>05:30 AM</span>

<DIV>I think Tower of Stone is one of our most useful spells now. In conjunction with a few older, seldom used arts, its incredibly useful in raids. People complain about repair costs but isnt it much cheaper to repair damage to a shield (or even a bag of them) than to a whole set of fabled armor, or rather the damage from an entire raid wipe? Ive had this ability be the difference between success and failure. Ill pay the 40 silver for a busted Ironwood (I carry a bag of them). </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The difference between an ironwood tower and a t6 fabled tower shield (at least those I have seen thus far) just in terms of avoidance is not equivalent to 3 1,000+ (assuming a 10k tank hp pool) hp hits over the spell duration. Its very easy to hotbar shields. Once it absords the hits, click on your fabled shield again. Whats your change in avoidance between Ironwood and t6 fabled? maybe 3-5%, if that? Considering Epics have plus to hit modifiers and that the scaling is more pronounced for orange mobs, its not that much difference. Id be very surprised if that difference meant that you were avoiding 3 more hits in that 10-12 second period of time. In fact id bet the farm that its not (I dont own a farm though <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />).  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<div></div>I strongely agree with germanicus, in fact i feel that the skill tower of stone is overpowered, and that you arent a tank without that skill.  As a Shadowknight i envy guardians for having that skill.  And it is my believe that certain raid mobs are impossible without that skill for initial pull.  Hell tower of stone can even absord the Djinn's agro drop/power drain..<div></div>

Tower of stone isnt that great. Its only use is to buy 3 hits to proc guardian sphere on the pull. Thats about the only use it has, otherwise like tuna said, its not very helpful. Its pretty dumb to have to carry a bag of ironwood shields and switch them on and off constantly. So this leaves 2 choices. Either ignore all your fabled shields and just use ironwood shields or switch them out. (which in this case if you rely on tower of stone, you end up getting tired of switching every fight and just keep using ironwood the whole raid, which pretty much makes it pointless to have fabled shields considering you dont use them 75% of the time) or just ignore the fact you have a tower of stone skill and get used to tanking without it. SOE really should do away with the shield dmg, its pretty lame. <div></div>

Tower of stone isn't required to tank any mob in the game.. 3 hit's isn't a big deal. It should do 0 shield damage, then it would kind of make up for the fact the plant is a piece of crap, and sentry is a piece of crap. But as it stands, plant, tower of stone, and sentry watch are 3 big piles of crap. <div></div>

And if there is absolutely no functional difference between a kite shield and a tower shield in game, why require the use of a tower shield?  This only requires more shield switching in and out.<div></div>

Well pulling a orange lvl 65 epic x4 raid mob (ie. sunchild) you probly want to have tower of stone up as he will hit you pretty [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] hard being that he is not debuffed, if you dont, you'll probly either die, or lose agro to the shaman that had the massive wards on you that kept you alive.Tower of stone is very helpful on pull, the pull of a mob is one of the most important parts of fighting a raid mob.  Yes thats the ONLY thing its helpful for but that alone is extremely helpful.<div></div>

<DIV>Also keep in mind that the mitigation "cap" scales based on the level of the mob.  For example the poison resist value shows up as "capped" at around 4400 - absorbing 70% of the damage from a level 60 mob.  If the mob is 64, you will need a much higher poison resist to resist that same 70%.</DIV>
