This isn't using 25% of what i could do let alone 75%. I use a parser and basicly i have figured out that if i want to keep from getting agro i need to be no higher then the tanks dps if i plan on not becoming the tank on a regular basis. Hell last week we were raiding darathar and i managed to pull agro while sitting 12th on dps several mins after the pull while there were several fighters running higher dps. I don't know if it's simply dps classes in general generating too much hate or if its tanks not being able to taunt well enough but being reigned in to being behind fighters for as far as useable dps isn't what i signed up to be and not having the tools to effectivly hold agro so that mages and scouts can be effective in thier role as dps is not what i signed up for when i made my guardian.

Rofl too funny~

I now play my Guardian exclusively in the utility role that SOE designed it for. Sure, that means some groupies are going to die when I'm the MT, but hey, I'm enjoying my new SOE defined role. When the Wizzard gets beat into the ground and complains, I tell him, "Look at your defense fool! That's my buff onya!" It's not my problem if the Wizzard dosen't use his buffed defense. When the Ranger gets scrambled and complains, I tell him, "Look mate, I've been giving you a 49 percent chance to have a 13 percent chance to avoid some of those hits! Recognize!" Stupid Rangers. When the Templar gets pasted and complains, I tell him, "Don't look at me like that. I intercepted at least 3 hits that were headed your way. If I had been wasting my power on taunts I wouldn't have intercepted any damage that was meant for you!" Ungrateful healers. When the group wipes and becomes mutinous, I tell them, "Daggoneit, that was my bad friends. I should have been in DPS mode. Rez up and I'll switch"

Spudge, 60 Utilitarian

Ahhhh thank you, sir!

Ziffnabb wrote:

PS for those guardians that feel that using your taunting skills is too much work or that you simply don't like it and are still not holding agro i sugest re-rolling a scout or some thing that doesn't need to keep agro.

I chose to play a guardian based on the description in the manual. Nothing in there mentions taunting and from a role-playing point of view spamming taunts is stupid. I considered leaving the game after finding out that some people considered that that was my job. My guardian is now level 35. I do not upgrade taunts first . I only use adept 3 for the one needed for HOs. Most of the time I solo, working on quests. Sometimes grouping with guildmates or joining a guild raid, but preferrably not as the main tank. SOE have said that every fighter can be a tank. That's OK with me, let them. But let us all also not be a tank if we don't want to be. I have created a scout alt, now level 21. When I make a mistake she dies quickly. but when soloing I normally go after individuals 1 or two levels higher than her and usually kill them quickly. When grouping I keep getting aggro and dying - need more experience there. In someways combat is less interesting with her, fights are over so quickly there is no time for tension to build up.
