View Full Version : Taunts and what makes them work?

Just a really odd question, but what skill is taunt based off?As it gets resisted, its working like a spell and not a combat art atm.So does that mean its technically using disruption as the skill check and seeing as you dont have it having a massive penalty on your resist checks.I'd just like a dev to really clarify what skill check it works off, to make sure you are not getting done over atm.From parsing your resists do seem very high compared to any other spell landing on yellow and orange from actually casters.

the general theroy atm is that taunts mental resist due to the fact that there is HUGE overlap in mobs who are mental immune and mobs who are taunt immune. Skill wise i beleive taunts just check "Guardian" or "Tranquility" for monks, the general skill that genericly says your level. Nothing really seems to help on taunt resists... The only noticble help are LARGE mental debuff but i dont think its 100% proven for sure yet <div></div>

<div></div>With mental being an issue, its not going to get fixed until something is changed on a base resist level then. As most bard raid mobs are immune to mental, then taunts will never land. Going back over my parses, the named Harpy in Courts resisted every "taunt" that was thrown at it. Stance taunt is mental also. YOu need to debuff mental, but still taunts won't land reliably.. just better. <div></div>

Cool, right got that down. You need an inquisitor/troub/illusionist in the raid, one of each or all three to debuff mental.Now the issue is, that dirges buff all combat art abilities with Boon. But if taunts are a base check off "class skill", then boon does not affect taunts. And so you have no way of raising you "vs check", like every other class has from the skill bonus items, which has a negative impact on your class.Again this is where a dev needs to pipe up and give us a clue on the check involved and if buffs are failing to affect.

Illus and troub mental debuffs are a mental spell.. so they don't land for crap. Your best mental debuffer is going to be an inquis, as their divine? dot debuffs mental by 800 some... <div></div>

brigands work well also, as do t6 int dolls. Brigands its a 2k mental debuff for 12 sec so u can get 3 taunts off in that time for sure, get a few brigs and space out the debuff and u can keep it on the whole fight <div></div>
